EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Really Grover? Losers?

Someone so close to Jack Abramoff might not want to call others "losers"

As you will note from my posting over the past several weeks, I have declined to write about CPAC and the related controversy. RedState is assisting FreedomWorks in sponsoring Bloggers Row, but I have personally done my best to keep my head down and mouth shut. I’ll be speaking Friday at noon to the Young America’s Foundation luncheon. I’m happy to do so.

Nonetheless, I’m rapidly loosening up my jaw on this despite having done my best to be silent and nod politely at both sides. I just . . . um . . . only see one side slinging mud.

Chris Barron of GOProud went on MSNBC to lump Jim DeMint with the birthers for DeMint not going to CPAC. GOProud does, however, appear in the same category here as the Birchers.

Now Chris Barron is attacking Tim Pawlenty for Pawlenty speaking in favor of Don’t Ask – Don’t Tell.

And for icing on the cake, now Grover Norquist is out referring to the Heritage Foundation, the Media Research Center, the Family Research Council, Sen. Jim DeMint, Rep. Jim Jordan, etc. as “loser organizations” and “losers” generally.

I don’t recall Heritage, DeMint, etc. deciding to attack CPAC. They’ve just opted out. Perhaps those wishing Tim Pawlenty, Jim DeMint, etc. would shut up should take their own advice.

Do I really need to pull out the Susan Ralston email?

I’ll stop here and suggest we, by which I mean largely they, might want to consider a cease fire.

Save for some differences we are all on the same team.
There is nothing with a little public disagreement but no call to get nasty over it.
It looks petty and sets a bad example if I may say so.
    My two cents.

in that we should all want Obama and as many of his minions gone as possible and as soon as possible, we should all want a much smaller government and much less spending, but on social issues we are not on the same team and it seems they want it that way.

Erik is right, they want all socons to stay silent while they push their own social agenda, attack proven conservatives who do not do what they want such as DeMint, and are trying to inject their own views into the party in order to make them the standard platform. The fiscal cons swear we need to push social issues onto a back burner, yet a so called fiscal con group such as GOProud wants to put their social issue in our face. Either fiscal matters are all that is important, or our social issues are just as important if not more important than their agenda. Gay marriage and DADT are social issues and if we do not have the time or luxury to dwell on social issues, we do not have time to dwell on their agenda or allow it to be an issue at all.And I dare say ending abortion would always be more important than letting gays marry, yet we are told to keep quiet on that for now.

I for one hope Erik uses his sway to expose this nonsense for what it is and I hope it happens soon. They are a part of our party and we welcome them, but we will not allow them to trash proven warriors or to tell us to shut up. That is the plain and simple truth of the matter.

It seems that in the name of a big group hug, some, no many, are using the excuse that it is more important to put any and all long held social conservative principle aside. It gets tiring for me to see so many willing to, as you say, be willing to put the life issue aside, and embrace the gay agenda, just so we can beat Obama. Obama is already on the side of the gays, as has been evidenced by his push for the repeal of DADT. It seems that there are some that would just as easily accept the radical islamist portion at CPAC, just so we can beat Obama. Many fail to understand that Obama, and the Liberals already own those positions. So, tell me, where is GOProud on our side? Not anywhere, to ant great degree, that I can tell.

… and Grover the fuzzy purple one, too: Coalitions are mostly built by keeping your own counsel. The SoCons are our offensive line. Throw them under the bus and risk being overrun by the Progressive hordes. Hey, here’s an idea – let the SoCons stay happy playing defense and step up and go play some offense – against the real opponent (Progressive gang).

GOProud is obviously not too interested in playing offense against Progressives. GOProud changes teams to get what they want.

A “truce” implies an end to hostilities. There were no hostilities until Mitch and the Trucers started in. Now the hostilities have gone into overdrive, as the Trucer crowd is doing everything they can to push their agenda.

Nasty is what comes when someone sucker-punches you. And nasty we will continue until they back down.

I’m not big on group hugs.
The point I am trying to make is that always being in exact lock step on every issue might be a difficult hurdle to leap and if you support or don’t support for example gay marriage which I don’t think will be a campaign issue there is no need to go to the OK Corral over it.
DADT is settled law unless someone wants to open that can of worms again.
Gay marriage will be more of a state to state issue as it already is.
There are also spending issues and Tea Party coalitions and all that.
There are some states that will bring up birther issues as in Arizona and also there will be some disagreement on birthright citizenship and how to handle it.
You compromise when you can and hold fast when you cannot but it shouldn’t devolve into a public fight that will only weaken us all as a group.
I like Rush, Sean Michelle M. and Erick and all them But there is no one single person that I agree with all the time but that won’t make me turn my back on them.

It amazes me how some (several right here on this site) people call for Socons “divisive” for disagreeing with GoProud and boycotting CPAC, yet they do not call out GoProud for their nasty and divisive rhetoric. Now we can add Mr. Norquist to the list of hateful rhetoric geared towards Socons.

I wonder if all of those on RS who were criticizing the Socon groups for boycotting and being “divisive” will apply the same criticism to Mr. Norquist and GoProud.

It will be interesting to see.

  • proudmarinemom

on the bridge too far thread.

The most outspoken critics of the boycott have yet to weigh in. Again, it will be interesting to see. I just hope that they will be consistent in their principles.

Norquist represents what is left of the true RINO core of the Republican Party. Grover was always right there to squelch any Conservatism wherever he goes.

For Grover, the candidates, issues, and discussion should always be moderate, liberal, anti-Christian, and anti-Israel.

Guys like Grover helped mold the Republican Party’s RINO liberal squish core.

Some of the true Conservative lectures that should have been bigger at CPAC got suppressed because of Grover’s influence and some that should not have even been got accepted because of Grover’s influence.

I’d say it may be time to do some house cleaning in CPAC if Norquist and some others are going to be allowed the influence that they have had in the past. Grover adds to reasons to not attend CPAC.

Hopefully CPAC will reverse the directions it has been taking in line with Norquist.

Grover Norquist, is the pride of the RINO LOSER brand and is given two thumbs up by Charlie Crist and the Muslim Brotherhood.

  • runner12

CPAC is the bastion of RINO conservatism, or at least it has been co-opted by those who are.

Some of the calls to gain Independent voters come from the same people who are supporting Mr. Norquist and his friends. Yet probably 75% of Indpendents have never heard of CPAC and if they have, they view them negatively.

Contrast that to the Tea party who is actually bringing IN people who were once Independents. Enough said.

Thought I would dedicate the next fundraising check to The Heritage Foundation to Grover. Thanks Grover for reminding us that principled social conservatism still matters, especially since it will defeat you. Happy submission to the Muslim Brotherhood Day.

has already moved over to Values Voters Summit, along with Liberty University and many of the other groups that have backed away from CPAC this year. In fact, I read somewhere that the Values Voters Summit was started as an alternative to CPAC, when CPAC started going wayward, and it was not just in these last few months. I understand this past October they had a crowd of a few thousand. It appears that they are going to be the Reagan Conservative event with fiscal, social and national security issues all covered at their event. CPAC will be the Ron Paul Libertarian, GOProud, and Grover radical islamic alternative.

Put the Values Voters Summit on your calendar for next Oct. I think it’s a safe bet to say that Ron Paul won’t be on the invited speakers list. They cover those nasty social and national security positions.

  • JadedByPolitics

they are liberals/libertarians/anarchists….and they all play the same game which of course is to say they attack and have no dignity. I am glad Grover has shown himself…..perhaps next year he will be stuck with the Muslim Brotherhood having a conference in one room, GOProud in another and Ron Paul in another and their three day conference will be one day and done! Their conference, their choice, OUR money to NOT SPEND at CPAC.

  • The_Gadfly

He stood firm with conservatives when Reagan came into office. His single issue focus on reducing spending makes him a solid Ficon.

It is more correct to say his over-emphasis of this point has led him to go Benedict Arnold on us. As a tri-legged stool conservative I say this with sadness because he could have continued to be a useful ally had he not lost his way.

We need to be careful with the labels. I’m the first to slap down a ficon when they tell a socon to go to the back of the bus. But we can’t tell them they are RINOs and expect their support when we need it..

According to the article, a Tea Party Leader from the Dallas Tea Party is promoting the magazine. I checked out the Dallas Tea Party Website-

    http://dallasteaparty.org/pages/CorePrinciples/

Again, a Tea Party that is promoting nothing more than fiscal issues. No attention given to the SoCons and NatSecCons. The site lists many Tea Party Patriot organizations, which are sitting at the same table as the Ron Paul Campaign for Liberty.

Right after the 2008 elections, I read where the Paulies blamed a lack of organization as to why their man RONPAUL didn’t do better in the elections. They went onto an all out drive to set up “community organizations” (sound familiar) to promote Ron Paul’s libertarian ideas. They published an article where they said they were going to take over the Republican party, and turn it into their agenda, does top down, bottom up, inside out sound familiar? Yup, that was a Van Jones idea for Liberals.

At the time, and still to a degree today, so many said- don’t worry about them, there aren’t enough of them to make a difference.

    Can you hear me know?

    Is he a conservative leader?

Or is he someone with an axe to grind? The way I see it, we need our party leaders and office holders to be principled conservatives, but we don’t need only principled voters. We should have some selfish and group-promoting voters too, as long as they aren’t trying to turn us into another unprincipled alliance of self-dealing affinity groups. US politics already has enough of that and doesn’t need more. As long as Barron focuses on attracting voters he can tell them anything he wants. If he is actually telling party leaders and office-holders to get in line with his program (if this isn’t just media misrepresentation) then he should be told to stand down.

But if he’s just talking to his audience then the more the merrier. No problem. But remember, he can’t make promises that bind me or you.
