Congressional Republicans Begin Planting Hit Jobs on Conservatives

First the House GOP required Democrats to get their three week continuing resolution passed — a continuing resolution that cuts less money than the interest on our national debt that will accumulate over the next three weeks.

Then the House GOP started bad mouthing the conservatives who voted against their plan.

Now the House GOP is launching a direct assault on . . . wait for it . . . conservatives.

One reporter called me today. He is a long time acquaintance for a national newspaper. In shooting the breeze he dropped the names of leadership staffers pushing several of the hit jobs.

Unfortunately, though he named some names I’d already guessed, I can’t share them. But he said so many phones are burning up with hit jobs being planted I can write what I wrote because it will be impossible to trace back to him.

Then there is this from the Daily Caller.

One GOP aide unloaded on the conservatives, offering a more colorful view privately held by many other Republicans.

“These people aren’t thinking clearly. Their logic doesn’t pan out. They have NO plan. What concessions were they going to get if it failed? They were going to shut down the federal government over Planned Parenthood?” the source said, “It was totally reactionary. These people got elected to lead. Instead they got jerked around by the political equivalent of music critics. If these people knew anything about governing, they’d be in Congress, not lobbing bombs from the cheap seats and sending out fundraising emails.”

The aide offered contempt for Pence in particular. “Pence is running for governor, and has to get through a primary, so his position is about as genuine as a $10 Gucci hand bag on Sunset Boulevard.”

I’ll first point out that Eric Cantor is well known to wear Gucci loafers. Second, I will pass comment on the sexual orientation of whoever came up with the Gucci hand bag line. Third, I would like to ask exactly whose side these Republicans are on.

See, I’m on the side of smaller government and more freedom. These House Republicans seem to be in favor of smaller government in the abstract, just not in the real world.

They’re attacking Heritage Action for America, Club for Growth, Family Research Council, Mike Pence, and any other conservatives who dare to actually make them live up to their own Pledge to Nowhere. We conservatives have a plan. We just want the House Republicans we elected to find their testicles and run the ball down the field.

By the way, the House aide said, “If these people knew anything about governing, they’d be in Congress.” Actually, (1) Mike Pence is in Congress, (2) Chris Choccola was in Congress, (3) Tony Perkins was in the Louisiana State Legislature, and (4) unlike the House Aide, I have actually run and won elected office as a conservative. So, the House aide throwing shots is the only one in the picture who has never been elected to anything!

In fact, I think that makes this House aide akin to a prostitute — getting money from a congressman to perform cheap tricks. The rest of us are standing up for our convictions instead of selling out.

These republicans who are going to target conservatives, are they the same republicans lead to the results of 2006 and 2008?

Pelosi “led” with her CR and the rider for $100B+ for ObamaCare.

Wake up Boehner. This all comes down to choices and the Dems have chosen shutdown unless we surrender. Those are the choices.

Some of us argued for us to CHOOSE shutdown long ago, but now Harry has chosen it, so live it man.

We are going to have a shutdown unless you agree to single-payer. Get it?

So let’s have the damn shutdown on OUR terms, and BEFORE the debt ceiling battle, since it involves foreign bondholders.

    AND NO MORE SECRET PLANS.

WE DRANK TEA AND VOTED IN PUBLIC!!!!!

  • chihank

First, the establishment went after Palin and the Tea Parties. Now the establishment is going after grass roots, conservative organizations. These establishment types make me sick. I could see why people are willing to support a kook like Ron Paul for President.

I might add that these DC Establishment types strike me as control freaks. They look at theTea Parties as something they need to control.

  • ohiohistorian

And he thinks the CONSERVATIVES are the dumb ones with no plan? He has gotten his clock cleaned by Harry on the funding for the rest of the year with the $61B removed. My Rep, Tiberi assured me that it was $100B in an email; no retraction, obviously. He can’t even get the Speaker’s water carried factually. Now he voted FOR this 3 week abomination.

Boehner, there is ONE plan. You go toe to toe with Harry Reid, slug it out, and WIN! They are the ones that passed the $105B appropriation in the Affordable Health Care Act, THEY didn’t even acknowledge that they were breaking their own rules!!! They are the ones that passed all this spending despite their nice resolution to do spending offsets. YOU need to tell the American people what you are going to do, THEN DO IT! Otherwise, I think you had better watch your polling in Ohio. You will make Obama look like the fair-haired boy.

Disgust with GOP fecklessness has been around for years, but we’ve always been warned of how counterproductive it would be to go the Third Party route.

I don’t think those warnings carry any weight anymore. In fact, if anything is going to become a third party it’s the GOP. I’ve had it with them. All they do is corral the conservative vote and then do *nothing* those voters wanted.

…as the Party of Growing Government a Little Less Quickly Than the Other Guys.

Not much of a mandate for that, unfortunately. They could be turning what should have been another big win in 2012 into a nail-biter – or even a loss.

  • admdavid

I guess we are going to have to primary every last one of these establishment jokes! I could spit bullets right now I’m so upset by this complete stab in the back to We the People! They took a very clear mandate to cut spending and get our financial house in order and are flushing it down the toilet. But like these new ever-so-efficient low-flow models, they can’t quite do it in one flush.

It’s the utter contempt they must feel for us that is so galling. Do they think us such rubes to not recall this come primary season? I frankly am at a loss to explain this behavior.

I can see the ads now, run in Boehner’s district; a picture of him crying, with the word ‘WIMP’ in big letters underneath. Then go on about how he doesn’t want to defund Obamacare or Planned Parenthood.

We can find a similar one for Cantor. He’s weird anyway. Should be easy to lampoon.

I am starting to think a viable, not-too-terribly expensive way of dealing with these jackwagons would be to target their own districts with devastating ads run all the time. Get our TP brethren and sistren in their districts to picket; maybe organize a bus trip up there.

We’ve got to get serious about this. I know times are tight (I’m trading food money for gas) but where there’s a will, there’s a way. We have the will: we’d better find a way.

No less than the survival of our beloved country is at stake. And to think that it’s being threatened by a crybaby and a fop.

This has been mentioned elsewhere. Pass bills for items that most can agree on: Defense, Social Security, even Medicare. Challenge Reid to vote these down. If he does, then he is the one holding the country ransom. Then the public knows those essential areas are funded. Throw down the gauntlet then, and the folks in America would not care so much about a partial government shutdown.

    Matthew 12:25.
This is a sure way to lose the 2012 elections. If the establishment Republicans cannot keep their eyes on the prize and their focus on the goal of cutting the debt and deficit, they need to step aside and let the freshman take charge.
This is disgusting and childish behavior, and is insulting to the people who elected them to lead and do what is right.

If it wasn’t for Japan dominating the news there might have been more pressure on House Republicans.

In two weeks they will try another one, keep up the pressure.

part of the establishment, but unfortunately not surprising. By attacking the courageous Congressmen and women who said enough is enough they are all but admitting that they are coming from a weaker position.

These attempts to go after the brave 54 are a clear sign that they heard an earful from their constituents on this one. But do they listen? No, they just try and use the media to sway the public to their side. All I can say is good luck on that one because I can tell you right now it won’t work. With every attack you strengthen the Tea Party and other like-minded conservatives.

when they could tell us what they wanted us to hear and expected us to just buy into it. Truthfully, they are almost as bad about wanting to “control the narrative” as Democrats.

The days of our just believing what we are told to believe are done. The number of people who no longer have any trust in government is extremely high, which they bring on themselves time after time because they never follow through with what they campaign on.

The days of our just believing what we are told to believe are over. Done. Gone. Past. Finished. They need to wake up and see the truth of that, grow a spine, and take on the task at hand. If they don’t, then we can and will respond in the 2012 elections even more vociferously than we did in the elections in 2010. Count on it.

These are Bush-era apparatchiks simply not learning from history and trying to rely on seniority to bull their way through.

I’ve had enough of Boehner already. The signs were there when they wouldn’t back Paul Ryan and let his plan dangle in the wind except when they needed a television talking point.

Then they dissed Michele Bachmann who isn’t perfect, but provided a ton of conservative resource and message the last few years.

Now you see where the Bush admin went wrong. They are still here, Boehner and Cantor, and we are paying a huge price for it, again.

  • Common_Cents

War is on the establishment Republicans to take over the party. If we can do that and have a freakin spine I’d say defeating the Dems would be more like a battle.

Levin said if the Daily Caller wants to print accusations as pointed as the ‘aide’ made, they should only do so with attribution. The article said only 25% of the freshmen voted ‘no’ which means 75% of them fooled me and have no convictions after all. Very soon they’ll be running for re-election. As for the rest of them, they were happy being in the minority. They do not care about the country.

“For those who would have the audacity to stand up and fight for a smaller government, to fight for the constitution, to fight for our freedoms and to fight for a smaller, less costly, more accountable government that’s been the backbone of our country – you know what that word is? Patriots! Patriots! So I want to say to all of you patriots: if you’ve got differences with what’s going on in Washington, remember what President Obama told you to do. That’s what elections are for!…

“…If we’re lucky enough to be in the majority and I’m lucky enough to be the Speaker of the House, it’s going to be real different. And I”m not talking about just different than what Democrats are doing, I”m talking about differently than the Republicans did it the last time we had it. Its time to get serious about spending. …” Rep. John Boehner, November 1, 2010 at a campaign rally for (then) candidate (now) Rep. Jim Renacci, Canton, OH.

    Yeah, uh….not so much.

See the CPAN video here. It’s interesting that as the CPAN crew is interviewing the Ohio attendees before Boehner arrives, their feelings about him can mostly be summed up as, “Meh.”

I am so tired of all of you who blame Boehner, Cantor etc. for not cutting enough. Explain to me how they can do that when the Democrats are in the Majority in the Senate and then we have Obama ready to veto anything that would help the United States get out of the mess.It is BECAUSE OF HIM AND THE DEMOCRATS.that we are in this mess. Obama has done so much damage in his first two years and still has two more to go. Don’t give him 4 more. Time for all Republicans to stand up and support Governors that are trying to clean up the mess the Democrat Governors made, and stop bashing other Republicans who are trying to save the US.

We must begin by identifying true conservatives who are willing to run and willing to actually DO what they promise once they get to D.C.. We must help them raise funds, we must talk them up to our friends and neighbors and family members. We must put up yard signs in our own yards and convince others to do the same. We must block walk and discuss the candidates and issues at work and elsewhere.
But, we must start NOW and continue until the 2012 election and beyond.
The spineless weasels will never do what they were elected to do until they see real opposition in place and active. Start NOW!!!

  • davesinsanantonio

are NOT trying to save the U. S.. They are trying to save their jobs, or trying to insure a good lobbying gig when they lose their current job.
Per your request: Boehner, etal., can cut “enough” by actually putting it in a bill!!! Just assuming that you cannot win and thus not even trying is guaranteeing you don’t win. Then saying that you “cannot” win is disingenuous at best. And weaselly lying at worst.
Yes, it is possible (not guaranteed by any means) that Reid may not put it in his version of the bill, or that Obama may veto it. But, Obama has proven that he has no real backbone either, and Reid may be pressured by his own people to back off when the bill gets to conference. But, even if the worst happens, the blame will rest with those two, not with the House. So, “put it in the bill”. Let the chips fall where they may, and get on the talk shows and give interviews so that the American voters get the truth about what we are trying to do to save their money and their country!
Stop wimping out without even trying!!! Stop crying that “there is nothing we can do”, and DO it!!!!

  • etexfisherman48

I warned and warned Boehner the “bonehead” was the wrong guy but nobody listened. When he caved on TARP I knew then he was a weakling that had been in congress too long. This is what happens when people are allowed to be in congress long enough to secure a hefty retirement benefit and exclude themselves by the very laws they impose on us. Does this ring a bell? I hope so because if it doesn’t we are doomed to repeat. Plus, we have to shed this mentality of fire everyone’s congressman but mine. We don’t need to think third party but instead throw these RINOS out and replace them with men like the 87 new ones period. And if it appears that some of these new ones and it does are giving in to the establishment make them one term congressmen.

I have the answer but doubt anyone will pay attention. I’ll say it anyway; fire every incumbent, replace them with only born again spirit filled men of God that fears God more than man. Elect only those that are senior citizens that have been there and done that and are not worried about getting re-elected. This means it doesn’t take a lawyer as we have been led to believe.

This last election we were naive. We are much better now and must find our way and leave everything on the table. Where is The Tea Party???
Time to fight with everything we have to get our country back. No hold bared.

for everyone to see. But to say they are just beginning to plant stories is to ignore what has been going on for years. The Republican establishment has been undermining conservatives and the Tea Party at every chance. The House of Reps was supposed to be a bone to shut us up, but its not working as planned. The Repubs are just an extension of the progressive movement and in principle, if not tactical details, support the same agenda. They hold the grass root conservatives in as much contempt as the left does.

from the ground up without announcing it. At least that is the case in my home county. Many TP activists here have taken over leadership positions in the county’s Republican Executive Committee and also became Precinct Committee men and women.

We’re vetting candidates and promoting only those that are conservative. Education programs are happening all over the county, teaching the principles on which the Founding Fathers based the creation of our country. We’ve even begun using the Republican HQ as a lending library to help educate as many as possible about those principles.

If you haven’t done these things in your areas, you should start immediately. Taking Precinct Committee positions allows you to vote on the respresentatives for your county, who, in turn, vote for thier state’s representatives, and so on. The bottom line is to GET STARTED NOW.

I think we deserve some action out of congress that is equivalent to the election in Nov. We did something that had not been done in 60 yrs and I think we deserve some leadership on the same scale. My first thought is to cut gov so much that we see unemployed federal workers equivalent to the private sector. How about wiping out the Federal Reserve.

  • dnha14

Just call them the Demopublicans and get it over with. The Republicans were given a second chance to prove that they could lead. The leaders are failing us in dramatic fashion. It has become completely obvious that we are under one party rule in this country and have been for some time. The charade is over, the masks have been removed and the game is over. We need to have a SECOND party arise from the grass roots. Notice I said second rather than third, because that is closer to the truth. The Demopublicans both want the same thing, total control of the populace. The two factions only argue over the economic system to be used, socialism or capitalism. Other than that differentiation, control is their singular objective.

  • horizon3

    We DO NOT NEED LEADERS!!

What part of of **REPRESENTATIVE** government is too freaking hard to grasp?

Leaders go their own way, not the way their bosses (We The People) want them to go, WE are the Leaders … They are the employees. And as with any business that stays in business you get rid of non performing employees.

If Boehner can’t cut the mustard out with him and put someone in that can.

And stop being scared by the “Third Party” bogey man, it’s not real. Political Parties are all about numbers, not names. If a third party forms and has more numbers than the incumbent party it’s no longer a third party, it is THE party.

The present GOP has been compromised by leftists, has been for many years, hence their current predisposition to constantly seek compromise, and not victory. When you compromise (Reach Across The Isle) with your opposition YOU LOOSE, it’s called “capitulation” in the dictionary. Or at best you tie the game, which means you wasted your time.

    now it’s Bachmann.

In his own inimitable fair and balanced way, Bill O’Reilly has recited her misstep (saying Lexington and Concord were in New Hampshire, not in Massachusetts). He said it Tuesday night, Wednesday night, and this morning in his radio message.

Each time he gets all serious-like and grants that she owned up to it … but then says it has to have hurt her.

So far, not one time has he pointed out the rest of her statement in her tweet right after it happened: ‘THAT’S THE LAST TIME I BORROW THE PRESIDENT’S TELEPROMPTER.”

This is Alinsky 101. Have the MSM spread rumours then watch as the Republicans implode squabbling among themselves. I see this game being played all the time in local politics I’m involved in. And the number of sources means nothing because it is often spread to multiple sources by the one person. Can we just clue up a bit? In the mean time I’ll just believe my lying eyes that sees the House leadership doing a fine job on the conservative agenda.

  • rubicon01

Betrayal. A word many are now realizing applies to some who have lied to us for their own political gain!
One thing is an absolute. Doing things the same way again & again, does NOT work. In fact, doing so is supposedly a clear sign of insanity. So if its ‘clear thinking’ some of these folks who are planting vicious stories want, perhaps it is they who should try concentrating on their thoughts!?
Today, many Tea Party types, along with unaffiliated conservatives, see that “politicians,” as always, are the real problem.
We know we will get people like Weiner distorting the truth to mock losing Big Bird on PBS. (BTW.. Big Bird & the Sesame Street franchise [it is an independently owned franchise] is making hundreds of millions by itself so it is in NO danger of going away). PBS the radio outfit may go away, but Big Bird will survive. So actual liberals will always distort facts to hang onto their jobs & keep the federal bureaucracy going.
As always, the ‘compromises’ many Republicans have made, are making, or will make, are exactly why we have the problems we have. Its never middle of the road. Its always a far left solution, that is far distant from the middle that most might be able to find acceptable, that we end up with.
The real issue now is, we must develop the communications or contacts to expose or reveal those who are making deals we know are insane. Then we can pressure them to live up to our expectations, or to warn them they are soon to go home, permanently when we vote them out!
So far, many political types have been able to hide their actions. So far, the cover they get has been supplied by, the left and the media allies of the left. It is ironic since when the time comes they need leverage, the left will sell out those Republicans who have compromised issues into a total abdication of conservative responsibility! Perhaps many think they can have their career in congress & move on by then? This time around, I do not think that strategy is going to work as the Tea Party is actively looking for those they feel are betraying the American cause!

In order to begin to understand what is going on with this House (of Representatives) one must understand the motivational levers of the majority of Congressmen and Congresswomen. First and foremost is (1,)get reelected and second is the(2.) accumulation of power.

It is obvious that these two must work in tandem. It is also obvious that power comes with tenure and reelection chances is greatly improved by power.

The Tea Party and conservative newly elected pose a serious threat to the old warhorses of both houses. There is no way that they are going to control these mavrics (real, not an assumed trait as in McCain).
Mike Pence has it right, the time to pick a fight is now. This would help in any number of ways to help solidify and define the GOP and Conservative/ Tea Party agenda. At the present this agenda is an amorphous mass in need of a firming up and clearly stated goals, timing and priority.
As I see it the Obamacare defunding should have top priority and include the $105Billion right now. Get it on the table and ready to vote on. Next is Planned Parenthood, then lets get really, really into entitlements.
We have never in my 73 years had this kind of golden opportuity to clean house and if our own party has road blocks then they must be removed. Work with us or we will find somebody who will.

Note: Alan Drury’s Advice and Consent is a timeless lesson on Washington District of Corruption (aka WDC) politics in action.

I am very afraid that the Republicans/Conservatives will allow the media to pick our candidates again like they did in 2008 – McCain, what a joke that was. The media denigrates all the conservative candidates, of which there are many, and directs uninformed Republicans to the most liberal of all candidates. We can no longer afford to have a humongous slate of candidates – too much time is wasted whittling down the list and not enough time to promote the right candidate.

I agree w/you goodforall…Message to Young Guns–Cantor, Ryan and McCarthy. This isn’t about you, it’s about saving America from this disastrous Present Obama administration and really forging ahead to correct all the damage he’s done. When I heard about the book “Young Guns”, (sorry) I wanted to vomit! Present Obama has to be a ONE-TERM PRESIDENT!!!! Stop the in-fighting and Git-R-Done!

    out of my post?

It’s a comment on the current state of the GOP.
And how numbers effect party membership, I mentioned no other party.
The GOP right now is pretty much the same party as the DNC except with a different logo.

Just look at them! they are backpedaling on every issue they promised to fix. remember the “Pledge”.
