Barack Obama Is Now Admitting Some of the Libyan Rebels May Not Be Friendly

This is so insane it makes my head hurt.

In an interview with NBC News and another with CBS News, Barack Obama is finally admitting some of the rebels we are helping in Libya may not be friendly to the United States.

“I’m not ruling it out. But I’m also not ruling it in,” he added on NBC, but cautioned that though Washington’s knowledge of the make-up of the rebels was improving, it was not yet comprehensive.

Those members of the Libyan opposition who had met top US officials, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, had been fully “vetted,” he said. But some opposition individuals may be unfriendly to the United States, he added.

“That’s why I think it’s important for us not to jump in with both feet. But to carefully consider what are the goals of the opposition,” Obama told CBS.

So, in other words, we’re more fully engaged and committing Marines to the situation, but we are not yet sure what the goals are of the opposition. Likewise, “some opposition individuals may be unfriendly to the United States.”

Um . . . which ones? And how can we be sure that, should things go the way Obama wants that these rebels don’t wind up in charge?

He went in without a plan. This is what that looks like.

Dear Leader has

started this fight for one reason – to look less like the sissy he is, in order to get re-elected. He is an all too typical liberal who “sends the troops in,” but with their hands tied. He cares so much for our troops and airmen, he goes partying in Rio and golfing while they face bullets.

Commitment without understanding

UN Security Resolution 1973 authorizes “humanitarian” intervention but not support for either side. This is of course an illusion since bombs are going to fall and people are going to be hurt and killed, so the question of where the bombs fall is paramount. But that aside, immediately in our intervention we took up support of the rebels — without knowing who they were (more or less) and without knowing their plan. Now Obama is starting to acknowledge that may not have been the greatest idea in the world, but the damage is already done in that we chose sides, destroying any leverage we might have had with Gaddafi and demonstrating our lack of perspective and policy.

“Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.” (Thomas Paine)

“A friend of mine was asked to a costume ball a short time ago. He slapped some egg on his face and went as a liberal economist.” (Ronald Reagan)

Foreign policy should be the first priority of the President

YnotNOW (Diary) Wednesday, March 30th at 7:25PM EDT (link)

The President is the Commander in Chief, and in charge of the foreign policy presented to the rest of the world. That’s his job. Congress controls the budget and has more sway in domestic affairs.
And that is the reason that an inexperienced candidate should never be elected President. Must understand foreign affairs, diplomacy, and the military force that backs them up.

Naivete is showing…

lack of knowledge of what’s going on and who we are involved with. This administration will go down as the most ignorant and embarrasing one in our history. The saddest part is that he is doing all this to make himself look presidential for the coming election. He has been in full campaign mode since the first of the year. hence the vacations when the budget is a hot item and this Libyan “crisis” while we are still in two other conflicts. To be a supposedly smart indivdual, he sure doesn’t act like one. I guess the next time we see him in public will be in Houston at the final 4. That seems to be something he actually knows something about! I hear he’s actually made a decision about who will win. First time for everything!

It's very simple, mr. President

The armed fighters are Islamic extremists. They won’t talk to you. The defecting Qaddafi officials will, and they know exactly what to tell you. But these former officials have not started the revolt and are not in control.

and I think I know which side he is secretly rooting for to win. (hint: it’s not America).

So far, anyone that Obama considers a friend

Tbone (Diary) Wednesday, March 30th at 9:44AM EDT (link)

doesn’t seem to fit the profile of anyone that would traditionally be considered a friend. Why is that?

I think ...

there is a plan, and that is to oust a leader that is not under the thumb of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Ya think

cam1 has hit the nail on the head. The Muslim Brotherhood is the beneficiary of all this turmoil. Good thing BHO is i a place to help. I mean after all we are a Muslim nation or so Mr. pres. says . Can you say caliphate!

Will say that the tea party is part of Quaddafi’s regime…

Those who had once simpered: “I don’t want to destroy the rich, I only want to seize a little of their surplus to help the poor, just a little, they’ll never miss it!” – then, later, had snapped: “The tycoons can stand being squeezed; they’ve amassed enough to last them for three generations” – then, later, had yelled: “Why should the people suffer while businessmen have reserves to last a year?” – now were screaming: “Why should we starve while some people have reserves to last a week?” – Atlas Shrugged

This is Treason

letsmakesureiunderstand Wednesday, March 30th at 10:49PM EDT (link)

Obama is arming al-qaeda in Libya, and supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
These are sworn enemies of the US (killed thousands of us, still trying, declared jihad, and has a stated goal of destroying the US and implementing a global caliphate.)

Explain to me how arming the enemy of the US is not treason.

If I was arming the Soviet Union in 1962, or 72, or 82… I’d be thrown in jail, or even put to death for treason.

But when our president arms our enemy, it’s just fine. Got it.

Individual responsibility. Give it a try.

So...

Under Bush we fought against terrorists.

Under Obama we’re helping them.
