Huntsman sounds like Barack Obama. I didn’t like Arnold before, but I can’t take him seriously anymore. Kind of like Spitzer. I can’t see Spitzer’s face without feeling disgusted.

This is what a Republican progressive looks like. Global warming is the greatest hoax put on the American people in history and this fool lead off with Cap and trade….sheesh!

  • http://todaysasbestos.wordpress.com scotteiland

    If that.

Republicans won’t tolerate Barack Lite. We tried that in ’08. No thanks.

  • unclefred

I haven’t laughed quite so hard as I did when “Obviously” popped up, in a long time.
If there was ever any question as to why the media is trying to help us pick huntsman, this video provides the answers.

really have to wonder what he is thinking running in a primary that is dominated by the tea party. I’m really wondering if Obama will dump Biden for Huntsman.

It’s an attack on Huntsman and Romney. It’s somebody’s clever way of attacking some of our Republican candidates for their positions on certain issues. Yet here we are in the beginning of a campaign for the primary where one of these candidates will be successful. One meaning not necessarily one of these two but one of the larger field.

And so the message is, choose the right, non-rino position on issues in somebody’s opinion or we’ll open the door to attacks against your candidate. Now isn’t that the door we all decided to slam closed yesterday right here on Redstate?

I can attack the ideas of universal healthcare and climate change, etc. and I don’t need to attack Romney or Huntsman to do it. I can attack some of the extremist views of the tp, as evidenced in NY26 as being non-winners without attacking – - – - – – - – - – . I wouldn’t dare and I don’t want to. I took Erick seriously yesterday.

  • calamityjune

when I saw Romney’s name pop up on the screen and I thought about how we weren’t going to attack other’s candidates as agreed upon yesterday.

Yeah, no thanks. I’d rather keep Obama. Progressive Republicans scare me more than Progressive Democrats!

I thought the idea was to stop attacking legitimate Republican candidates. And as Mitt Romney is a legitimate candidate and he’s most likely the frontrunner at the moment, it just seemed to me that to attack him and group him with (- – - – - – - – -) who is being attacked for being a rino, would not be tolerated anymore. So I guess I got that all wrong?

You see, if this is going to be a Republican site then it’s not exclusively a tea party site and so we don’t attack tea party candidates and we don’t attack Republican candidates. Do I have that wrong? Am I a Republican who’s lost her way and ended up on an exclusively tea party site?

  • http://www.erickerickson.org Erick Erickson

The point of yesterday’s post was focused on the zealots and zealotry of people wedded to particular candidates lashing out at others for daring not to like the same candidate.

I’m not lashing out at anybody.

    I’m running a funny video clip that . . . wait for it . . . . wait for it . . . . uses the candidate’s own words.

  • Aaron Gardner
  • calamityjune

and manages to attack Mitt Romney by grouping him with another legitimate candidate who you don’t approve of. Well that’s fine, I don’t approve of candidate H but I do approve of candidate Romney and I don’t approve of an attack against him, no matter how it’s cleverly disguised. You don’t either right?

But let’s let it go this time in the spirit of not being divisive. Let’s hope it doesn’t open a door to another video that makes an attack on candidate C. Or candidate P.

    Nuff said!

  • streiff

    that’s not what it says.

  • calamityjune

Mitt Romney has adequately explained the difference between Obama care and what he did for his state. One is on a state level and the other is an attempt to dictate to the American people that they will be forced to take part in Obamacare.

Support Mitt Romney for president. A sensible and moderate candidate who appeals to conservatism as well as appealing to the undecided who we desperately need to beat Obama.

Thanks so much for letting me make my point here!

  • calamityjune

    Don’t be a zealot.

  • calamityjune

We are either going to leave out the attacks on some candidates or we are not!

  • rightwingmom52

Liberals and conservatives most certainly do not want the same thing. Plus, “embrace non-traditional values.” No, thanks.

  • sundaycombo

Huntsman could get the last laugh in. It’s just as plausible to draw up a scenario where he wins the GOP nomination as it is to draw up one where Bachmann wins it.

And speaking of cap and trade/global warming, noted flip flopper Tim Pawlenty’s minister, great friend, spiritual adviser, and officiator at his wedding (Rev. Leith Anderson) is a major evangelical leader who strongly believes in global warming and sponsoring actions to halt it. Sooner or later Pawlenty-if he is REALLY serious about being President- is going to have to pull an Obama/Rev Wright move and throw him under the bus.

    Rick Perry?s Tenth Commandment

    http://www.conservativesforamerica.com/national-review/rick-perry?s-tenth-commandment

The kicker is that Perry recently ran into former Boeing CEO Phil Condit at the airport, and learned that the retired executive is living in . . . the suburbs of Dallas, of course, which offer a whole lot less urban vibrancy than downtown Chicago but do offer such contemporary amenities as jobs, good schools, and a real-estate market that isn?t the stuff of nightmares ? along with a state income-tax rate of 0.0 percent, all of which add up to a standard of living that?s attractive both to rich guys like Condit and regular schmoes, who are moving to Texas by the millions. Think of it this way: Barack Obama beat John McCain by less than 10 million votes across the whole country; nearly half that many people have moved to Texas during Rick Perry?s governorship. In the vote-with-your-feet primary, he?s the runaway favorite, a fact that will be of no small consequence if he should decide that the place to fight Washington isn?t Austin, but Washington.

The video above is about Jon Huntsman.

It is not about Mitt Romney.

Your hyperdefensiveness about Mitt Romney means you clearly did not get the point of yesterday’s post and are prime example of what I was talking about.

It is a well known fact in politics that Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman are major political rivals and Jon Huntsman has been more than a bit candid that he hates Romney and would like to defeat Romney in the Presidential election cycle.

Consequently, the meaning of the “not endorsed by Mitt Romney” bit is not to connect Mitt Romney to Jon Huntsman’s liberalism, but as a humorous bit that Mitt Romney did not pay for a video that should he see it he’d be wishing that he produced.

    Do you get it now?

  • calamityjune

now we’re really back on a roll. Here’s some talking up of Huntsman with a little talking down of Pawlenty on the side!

Did you make a wittle misteak Ewick?

  • streiff

    why don’t you go away?

Because unless you cease and desist your sniveling over the fact that you can’t read I’m going to punt you.

  • calamityjune

It’s clearly a shot at Romney too because of his healthcare plan in his state. Didn’t you get it?

But regardless of whether or not it’s an attack on Romney, that’s not the main point. I’ll even grant you your illusion that it’s not.

It’s an attack on Huntsman and that is crystal clear. This tells me that you are disqualifying Huntsman here on Redstate. And that’s exactly contrary to what you demanded yesterday in your ‘zealot’ post.

I can’t make my point any clearer to you. I’ve made it crystal clear that I don’t support Huntsman and many others by now have done the same. That’s fine, but some Republicans “do” support Huntsman and condoning an attack against him is driving those Republicans away. Clear enough?

And now, the consequence of your funny video is that it has opened the door to attacks against some other Republican candidate. Get it Erick? This time?

My terms for staying on Redstate and posting with other like minded Republicans and conservatives is that nobody directly attacks any candidate. If those terms aren’t agreeable to you then let me know. I suggest that they would be quite agreeable to most of the people on this site.

    Thanks anyway!

You would roll the seeds into your next joint and wonder why you kept hearing popping noises everytime you took another puff.

  • acat

a progressive of any stripe is “with me” …

and I find that the progressive-GOP types are actually “with me” *less* than the Obama types – simply because the Obama types have to compromise across the aisle and the GOP types don’t.

The downside, of course, is that an actual Conservative GOP candidate has to compromise with both groups of progressives – first watering stuff down enough to get his (or her) own party on board, then fighting the Dems.

(hint: that last bit there is why we need more Jim DeMint, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio types in the Senate)

  • buddha1556

can you sarcastically say or imply that you missed the point yesterday before it dawns on you that you actually did?

Your inability to coherently state your case combined with your unique powers of seeing things that aren’t there is a decidedly liberal trait. Please stop trying to pass yourself off as conservative.

I have not committed to a candidate yet, but to me, your seemingly unwarranted worship of Romney is a strike against him.

And that is the point from yesterday: Undecided people are looking for reasoned arguments, not bickering. If you feel comments are but doing your candidate justice, then write a “pro” diary. Otherwise, your silence will do more to help your candidate than anything you’re posted in the last 24 hours.
