Mike Haridopolos Needs To Put Whatever He Uses On His Hair Into His Spine

This is embarrasing.

This morning, Haridopolos got thrown off a Florida radio show for going wobbly on the Paul Ryan Medicare plan, including not wanting to say yes or no on whether he supports it.

Then, his campaign issued a press release, which you can read below the fold. The key nugget of which is this line, “I absolutely support the goals of the Ryan Plan to cut federal government deficit spending and applaud Rep. Ryan’s bold leadership in putting forth an intelligent and serious plan to tackle the largest issue confronting our nation.” That line is subsequently repeated in the 222 words.

In between the repetition is this: “While I support almost every provision of the Ryan Plan, I believe that it must be amended to provided greater protections for Seniors.”

After all that, Haridopolos is now a solid “no” on the Ryan plan, claiming he’d vote against it.

What. The. Heck?! Perhaps he needs to take some of whatever he puts in his hair to keep it stiff and put it on his spine instead.

Full statement below the fold.

US Senate candidate Mike Haridopolos made the following statement regarding his strong support for protecting Florida’s Seniors.

I absolutely support the goals of the Ryan Plan to cut federal government deficit spending and applaud Rep. Ryan’s bold leadership in putting forth an intelligent and serious plan to tackle the largest issue confronting our nation. Rep. Ryan’s leadership in actually putting forth a plan to tackle the deficit is in stark contrast to the irresponsibility demonstrated by President Obama and the Democratic Senate who have failed to pass a budget for over 750 days, adding trillions to the debt during that time. While I support almost every provision of the Ryan Plan, I believe that it must be amended to provided greater protections for Seniors.

Fighting for Seniors is not new to me. One of the main reasons I fought ObamaCare, including passing Florida’s Health Care Freedom Act, is because of the devastating cuts it dealt to Seniors, cutting $500 billion from Medicare to fund ObamaCare-Welfare programs.

Again, I absolutely support the goals of the Ryan Plan and believe in almost all of the provisions to cut federal government deficit spending and address entitlements. As a candidate for the US Senate, I am the only person in this race with a proven record of reforming entitlements [Medicaid, Government Pensions, and Welfare] and a demonstrated commitment to making cuts to balance the budget in the state of Florida without increasing taxes or fees.

    “Death of a RINO.”

Senator Mikey as he is known here in Brevard is such aRino! He is just as bad as Prime Time Charlie Crist. We need another Marco Rubio to run for the US Senate seat against Bill Nelson, Jeb Bush could do it in spades!

…and he reminds me of the one and only… Charlie Crist.

    He is plastic.

to the Senate when Mel Martinez retired, but that was before I knew as much about Crist as I know now. Crist wasn’t looking for a senator, he was looking for a place-holder until he could run for the office, and Jeb Bush would not have been a place-holder.

John Ellis (JEB) Bush for Senator!!!

Too bad I live in Tennessee–I won’t be able to vote for him, but if I were a Democrat, I could vote for him absentee . . . heh, heh.

of politicians of every stripe going out there and saying how much they applaud Paul Ryan’s plan, and how it’s a good ‘starting’ point but they would have ‘some changes’. First of all, these kinds of statements are so condescending. Secondly, to me it demonstrates that they have not read the plan and probably believe (rightfully?) that they would not understand it because, you know, it would require the ability to think and might actually take some time to read. I have yet to hear from most what they *specifically* like, or what they would change in particular. It’s all an evasion and an attempt to look superior. Arrgh.

To begin with, it’s a bit presumptive to read much into Haridopolos being thrown off this radio show. This is what ‘Ray Junior’ does. He refers to himself as ‘America’s Loose Cannon’ for pete’s sake! And that requires stunts like this to live up to his self billing. He’s a shock jock, plain and simple.

He pulled the exact same stunt on Congressman Dan Webster during the 2010 election and ambushed Rick Scott on the campaign trail. It doesn’t take much effort to look into his background and see what you’re getting.

Personally, I’m more disappointed in Haridopolos for not knowing better to put himself in a position to be used as a convenient prop. As for the Ryan Plan, Congress is selling this to conservatives as a “starting point”, quoting my rep. That in itself indicates that it is not a finished product. There will be modifications. If Haridopolos has concerns, he should have offered solutions to those concerns, but to crucify him because he’s not towing the ‘company line’ is little more than the ‘to be expected’ demagoguery from over zelous Hasner supporters.

These kinds of statements usually come from pols trying to look conservative while they wait for their chance to waffle. They have no core principles to stand on, especially when they “reach across the aisle”. So, instead of caring about what’s best for America, they only care about getting elected or re-elected. They would sell out their own children’s future to get the approval of the Dems, or the Dems lapdog fellow travellers in the media or Hollywood.
We need to really look hard at candidates and potential candidates to insure they are truly conservative, and that they have a good record of doing the right thing, not just wimping out whenever the going gets tough. They don’t have to be perfect, but they should be very consistent, and without major moral lapses.

if you like richard lugar and olympia snowe than mike ”the RINO” haridopolos is your cup of tea. he is considered a weasel in florida politics and not at all popular in the tea party movement, and florida is one of the states where the tea party has shown real power. in fact, tea party ft lauderdale ran a political poll last month and haridopolos overwhelmingly won the ”least liked” politican award. nuff said.
