Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel Outraises Sherrod Brown

Holy cow this is awesome. Ohio Treasurer and RedState endorsed Josh Mandel has out raised incumbent United States Senate Leftist Sherrod Brown.

Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund also came out recently and endorsed Josh Mandel. Sherrod Brown, whose campaign strategy consists of moving as far left as possible to become the Alan Grayson of the Senate, has got to be soiling his underwear at this news.

Josh Mandel has passed that first test, and moves on with honors. The Ohio treasurer, barely in office seven months, raised $2.34 million in his initial foray into a U.S. Senate race, according to preliminary figures that he’ll finalize in a filing with the Federal Election Commission this week. . . .

He raised it in just three months, April through June. Mandel’s take eclipses the $1.5 million that incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, raised during the same period. Brown nevertheless has more in the bank — $3.5 million — because he raised money before this last quarter.

He is tied with Bernie Sanders and Sheldon Whitehouse as the most far to the left politician in the Senate. I can not believe that the people of Ohio actually want this guy representing them. He speaks for maybe 25% of the voting public.

I have been wondering if people in certain areas were not voting for him purely out of name recognition.

He is not related to the Brown family who had 2 Conservative Republican Congressional representatives among their ranks for decades: Clarence Brown and his son Clarence Jr. But when one realizes how some people vote…

The “25%” he speaks for have the media behind them via union money: plus the stupid and corrupt Taft Administration, which acted like Democrats in spending too much, raising taxes, making Ohio unfriendly to businesses for 8 years, and in assorted scandals, helped to elect him and (now former) Gov. Strickland.

He’s a victim of having to vote against two seperate Global Warming Bills. It killed him. He couldn’t take the heat.

As the story goes, sherrod brown was the beneficiary of rino tomfoolery. In 1992 the R establishment in Ohio wanted mike dewine to run for Howard metzenbaums senate seat in 1994, but conservative 6 term congressman bob McEwen had a leg up in that prospective race. So the 1992 redistricting pitted McEwen against another R incumbent, in the primary in a new district that ended up favoring democrat Ted strictland, who won the general by a small margin. Thus getting McEwen out of the way for mike dewine, who ended up being very squishy on several issues, and losing in 06 to sherrod brown. It was dewines squishyness that caused the loss as much as anything else. So we gave away two safe house seats to a dem who rode it to the governors mansion so we could avoid a conservative senator who would have likely defeated sherrod brown. Then a few years later pat dewine (son of mike) spent a million bucks mostly sliming McEwen in a failed attempt to get portmans seat, which ended up barely going to Jean Schmidt over mcewen thanks to dewines million bucks, which earned him 4th place.
