The List of Senators to Call

Jim DeMint just sent out this email. Please note the list of Senators to call ASAP:

The Senate will vote TODAY at 10:00 AM Eastern on the “Cut-Cap-Balance” legislation that we have been working so hard to advance.

Republicans in the House passed it earlier this week with bipartisan support. Now it’s the Senate’s turn.

Please call the Democrat senators listed below right now to urge them to vote for this important legislation. This is extremely important and I hope you will make at least one phone call right now.

You don’t need to be from the senator’s state. Their vote affects you just the same. We need to generate as many calls as we can from people all over the country. These senators need to know that you’re going to work to defeat them in their next election if they vote against this bill.

The Cut-Cap-Balance legislation will CUT spending immediately, CAP spending in future years, and require passage of a constitutional amendment forcing Congress to BALANCE the budget each year without raising taxes.

It will prevent us from defaulting on our debt obligations, protect our AAA credit rating, and ensure that we don’t ever have to raise the debt limit again.

A vote against this plan is a vote to bankrupt America.

Here are the Democrats who need to hear from you as soon as possible. Each of these senators voted in favor of a non-binding resolution earlier this year supporting the Balanced Budget Amendment. We will find out today if they were serious.

Mark Begich (D-AK) — (202) 224-3004
Michael Bennet (D-CO) — (202) 224-5852
Sherrod Brown (D-OH) — (202) 224-2315
Tom Carper (D-DE) — (202) 224-2441
Joe Manchin (D-WV) — (202) 224-3954
Claire McCaskill (D-MO) — (202) 224-6154
Bill Nelson (D-FL) — (202) 224-5274
Ben Nelson (D-NE) — (202) 224-6551
Mark Udall (D-CO) — (202) 224-5941

Claire was working on a similar proposal with Corker. She should vote for this. I was surprised to Pryor’s name not on the list. I guess he is not interested in serving the state of Arkansas.

For my Ohio Senators, I just called both Senators. I tried 3 times at Senator Sherrod Brown’s office; went to a full voice mail each time. I got through to Portman’s aides, who of course told me he was a co-sponsor. I asked them to have him convey to Brown that his VM was full and his staff weren’t answering.

Brown made a statement the other day something along the line that “we” couldn’t have saved the economy if there had been a balanced budget amendment. How much you want to bet that he will pull a John Kerry and say he “voted for it (the non-binding resolution) before he voted against it”, or even better not even tell anybody that he votes against it today.

but the effort is worth it anyhow…

You donated directly to their campaign or a PAC or the NRSC or any other fund from which they took donations, or you in any other way helped get them elected – phone calls, letters, etc.

Plus, how many times have you heard a politician claim to represent “the country?” If they can get in front of the cameras and speak for the country, they can sure take a minute to listen to the people of this country whether I’m in their state or not.

Of course, the only thing that applies in this case is my last point that if they’re going to claim to represent the country, they should be willing to give us a minute of their time.

Cut, Cap and Balance is not what we want. It raises the debt ceiling, doesn’t cut much (most cuts are backloaded to the outyears) and allows the insanely bloated government to continue on unabated.

Let the debt ceiling force President Obsimal to prioritize spending, and let the people decide whether he did a good job of it next fall.

Any congressman who votes for an increased debt ceiling should face a primary challenge next year.

Staffers for each tried to justify why they both voted to table CC&B, and that they both support the “Gang of 6″ proposal. When I claimed that the Gang plan has few specifics and passes the buck to committees and commissions to come up with actual ways to reach their “goals”, they argued that the Gang proposal was “specific” and “balanced”.

FRUSTRATION! I can’t even vote against either one in 2012!
