EDITOR OF REDSTATE

It’s “Sh#!”

A House Republican who is in leadership called me tonight. He said what we are hearing about — the two tier plan — is “sh*t” and he’s blaming Boehner. He agrees that Boehner is getting nervous and wants a deal.

But this two tier plan seems to be the Republicans’ initial offer. Harry Reid is headed that way. Many Democrats want more.

So keep in mind for purposes of negotiations, House Republican leadership members are already referring to the starting point as “sh*t” and it will only get worse from here.

One of the ways they’ll claim they are cutting $1 trillion is by pretending the Iraq and Afghan wars no longer exist. They’ll also do another deficit commission.

There have been 17 such deficit commissions in the past 30 years. The net result? Taxes have gone up with just about each one and spending has never actually been reduced. We’ve gone from $1 trillion in national debt to $14 trillion.

Also, the GOP leadership seems to want another debt ceiling vote before the election. This would be political suicide for the GOP. They’d vote to increase the debt ceiling and Barack Obama would get a definite PR win by looking bipartisan right before an election.

I think the congressman is right. This is sh*t.

starting with Freshman House Rep Sandy Adams (FL-24).

    I’ll be calling, Sandy!

Mr Speaker, you sir, are a huge disappointment. So much for standing 15 feet from you at an Orlando Tea Party rally hearing you scream “Hell No!!!”.

    Just words…just words…

Is Girly-Man Boehner gonna cry after he concedes?

  • Paul Seale

Debt commission is a non starter and ducks Constitutional obligations.

However I thought Democrats were trying like the plague to avoid another vote on increasing the limit on the national debt as it might bring up the subject again.

At least thats what Ive read over the past couple of days.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers office and told her to stand strong and not take this deal. It’s time to melt switchboards.

  • jdp

then what? No deal gets made, our debt gets downgraded, the Dow drops a few thousand points, the Republicans get blamed and Obama gets to go on TV and explain how he tried and tried and tried to bargain with the House, but the Republicans refused to budge.

Sounds like a plan for a big victory in 2012.

We need someone else to step up and make the call. If he intends to compromise and sell out the conservatives then his moment has passed. Even if he retains the Speakership, he will no longer lead. He will forever be known as a weak man without the guts to do what is right.

  • popdaddy

The local state controlled rag published as a newspaper for Austin, TX relies on propaganda from the NY Times and AP to fill its content. The Saturday pub had an AP article about how elected Republican legislators were concerned with being primaried if they vote for increased taxes.

    Duh.

I?ve told my Rep, Lamar Smith, Boehner is weak and worries me.
There is no more important time to convey the primary threat to US Congressmen who support tax increases and a debt ceiling increase than today.

    Call your Congressman.

Wasn’t the Base Closing commission fairly successful? Let’s have a govt program closing commission. Cantor already has that GAO report about all of the redundant duplicative programs being run by different agencies. Anyone with a half a brain could start cutting some of the waste.
    - sigh -

There’s no way that we’re going to get spending cuts without a tax increase, unless we simply don’t raise the debt ceiling at all. Every plan I’m seeing except CCB makes it clear that We The People get to see our tax rates increased now, spending reduced (nebulously) later, and massive borrowing continued in perpetuity.

I had the good fortune to be solicited by the RNC this morning on the phone. I explained that if Congress passed, and the President signed, a plan to raise the debt ceiling without increasing tax rates in any way (I’m fine with increasing revenues as long as they come from an improving economy), I would be happy to talk. Until then, not one thin dime. I don’t think they were happy.

as the McConnell one. Which isn’t very far.

Where’s the Democrat plan, Mr Boehner?

  • rickdeckard

Hey, Republican House Majority. Now see this:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2011/07/21/cnn-poll-finds-media-wrong-side-cut-cap-and-balance

This from CNN no less. (And we usually expect less when it comes to CNN polling.)

  • runner12

his way out of this one. Didn’t he say that the debt-ceiling was the “real” fight when he caved before? Did he not assure everyone that the GOP will hold the line and force cuts?

If he goes back on his word, he will be a proven liar and will need to be removed. Look, I know it is scary with all of this doom and gloom going around. The uncertainty is maddening at times. But great feats have never been accomplished without great risk.

    Hold the line, GOP.

  • bk

when he can just get the GOP to cave when push comes to shove.

The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.

  • http://travismonitor.blogspot.com Freedoms Truth

A version that 230 Republicans can vote for and proudly say its the right thing.

IS IT SO HARD FOR BOEHNER TO SIMPLY HAVE A VOTE ON THE POSITION THAT HE IS PUBLICLY STATING???

Cut spending by $500 billion, REAL cuts, not fake, raise debt ceiling by $500 billion. THAT’S IT.

  • drfredc

Actually, the picture of Peanuts getting tripped up by Obama pulling the football from him isn’t quite right. Instead of a football, Obama is teeing up a football made of tax increase shittola that Obama is just waiting for the GOP to try to kick out of the park — instead of pulling the ball away and tripping up the GOP in classic Peanuts style, Obama will tee it up and happily watch the GOP LOSERship cover themselves in shitola when they get their foot into the ball…

If the GOP leadership was chosen from the bottom quarter of spenders, we wouldn’t have this LOSERship problem lurking in the near future.

    1. The Dept. of Ed. does not need a SWAT team.

    2. The Dept of Ed. does not need to exist.

Opuppet told us he was going to take a scalpel to the federal budget. And for 815 days his Dem Senate has done nothing.

And what have conservative Americans done? Not much. Attended a lot of “rallies.” Complained a lot on blogs. Limbaugh said on the radio yesterday that only 41 per cent of the eligible voters bothered to cast a vote in the 2010 elections.

I expect Boehner and McConnell to cave-in. Why? Because not enough conservative Americans care to get involved in their local Republican Party committees to create credible threats to the incumbents’ chances of winning their primary elections. Until more conservative Republicans get involved, don’t expect a lot of courage from the incumbent Republicans.

I wonder how many of the regular contributors here at Redstate have ever attended their local Republican Party committee meeting? Still, despite all of the damage Opuppet and the Dems have done to this nation, over half of the Republican Party precinct committeeman slots are vacant.

We get the government our collective apathy and inaction deserve. And I’m guilty as charged. I didn’t get involved in party politics, by becoming a precinct committeeman, until 2007.

I hope you will get involved if you are not already.

    Thank you.

    ColdWarrior

way to make them real is to get conservative Republicans filling up all of the precinct committeeman slots.

    Here’s a blueprint re Boehner:

    http://www.redstate.com/coldwarrior/2011/03/22/want-to-change-john-boehner-it%E2%80%99s-up-to-the-conservatives-in-his-district/

It takes a little bit more effort than typing missives to the conservative choir on the net day after day. You have to actually go where the rubber meets the road.

    Thank you.

then your efforts are not in vain.
If you talk to 1,000 souls, and one is saved, then you have done good.
I for one applaud you, and you did get me moving and become involved to where my voice is heard, and it wasn’t that hard.
All I had to do was get off my butt.
    Again, I applaud you. :)

Thats the easy way to do it.

The people who vote, and pay taxes and see that this administration is killing this economy through applied collectivist theory, and who want a real choice in candidates next year based on the principles of limited government as arrived at by our founders through reason and deliberation.

We want you to hold the freaking line!

  • Paul Seale

Hope you are wrong, albeit McConnell already caved sota speak.

I would agree that the Dept of Education as exsist now was a gift from Jimmy Carter and should under no circumstanes have a swat team (heard that on Rush friday).

I hope we do get an 80% compromise in our favor.

I am afraid this has been a bruising battle, one in which I hope the wounds heal sooner than later. If it doesnt, Obama will be re-elected in 2012 all because people wanted to “teach” the Republican party a lesson again.

This has been being forwarded around the Internet since before I was on– modified slightly to abide by the no obscenities rule:

In the beginning there was a Plan.
    And then came Assumptions.
And the Assumptions were without form.
And the plan was without substance.
And darkness was on the face of the Workers.
And they spoke among themselves, saying
“It is a crock of $#!+, and it stinks”.
And the Workers went unto their Supervisors and said
“It is a pail of dung, and none may obide the odor thereof”.
And the Supervisors went unto their Managers, saying
“It is a container of excrement, and it is very strong, such that none can abide by it”.
And the Managers went unto their Directors saying
“It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength”.
And the Directors spoke among themselves, saying one to another
“It contains that which aids plant growth, and it is very strong”.
And the Directors went unto the Vice Presidents, saying unto them
“It promotes growth, and it is very powerful”.
And the Vice Presidents went unto President saying unto him
“This new Plan will actively promote growth and vigor of this company, with powerful effects”.
And the President looked upon the Plan and saw it was good.

Boehner needs to represent the will of the people he represents or he can be replaced in 2012. He should be made aware of that fact.

There is no reason to do anything until after Jan 20, 2013…..
    Let the tax rates expire…..

If Obama is still President we are screwed anyway.
Most small business’s will fold and millions more will
be out of work…..with 4 more of Obama the tax rates
    could be 100% and it won’t matter……

Now when Romney takes over we don’t deal with the democrats….

    We CRUSH them…..
