EDITOR OF REDSTATE

We Have More on Jamie Radtke

Jamie Radtke tells Scott Conroy of Real Clear Politics that she feels it is libelous for observers of her speech to say she was drunk as she says she was not drinking.

Okay.

Jamie Radtke says she was not drinking and I will believe her.

That, friends, makes reports of her performance at the RedState Gathering even more appalling.

UPDATED: There is now a letter from the campaign lawyer demanding an apology.

Okay. I’m sorry I put up reviews of Jamie Radtke’s speech from people who saw it and thought she had been drinking. She says she had not been drinking. I’ll take her at her word for it. That does then suggest she needs some serious work on giving speeches if people who saw her speaking not under the influence presumed that she was under the influence.

COMMENTS

From the comments of those that observed her, or spoke with her in the halls or wherever said they didn’t think she was drunk. If you are drunk, you can be excused for rambling. If you are rambling and sober, that’s a big problem. Agreed Erick.

to write that she appeared drunk. However, your post probably did damage her campaign beyond repair. A candidate can recover from a bad speech. A candidate cannot recover from reporting that suggests that her speech was bad because she was intoxicated at the time she gave it. You should be more careful about what you post, and a stronger apology is probably appropriate.

You have to pull out the campaign lawyer to demand an apology from a conservative blogger who hosted an event that you requested to speak at to get exposure.

I have also found that you get lawyers to cover up the truth, and bloggers to uncover the truth. It is obvious which way Radtke has decided to go.

    Sad.

P.S. Erick I love your non-apology apology that exposes the situation. Keep it up.

  • earlgrey

than just forgetting it and moving on?

  • gawken

is if you’ll agree to host a MONEY BOMB for her on RedState..

that the candidate herself damaged long ago. She is due no apologies. This is Radtke’s way, which is exactly why she has remained at 6% in the polls for several months, and has never gotten above that number.

From everything I’ve read, EE didn’t even talk about the Radtke issue until she, or her campaign staff, decided to go after EE at the Politico. From what I understand Politico is still attacking EE, even after the initial piece. Riehl, at his site, is posting as though he is also a victim, and oh so innocent. He picks up only parts of EE original article, and then links 3 times back to the Politico pieces. Hey, he did promise to burn EE.

It is my suspicion that Radtke knew she screwed up the speech pretty badly at the gathering, and in case any word of her bad performance got out to the media, she would play the victim, and blame game on everyone else before any of the truth got out.

that the whole kerfluffle was because people thought that she was ALREADY bombed.

  • Adjoran

    Good one.

I’d have been inclined to send her shyster a copy of the 1st Amendment with instructions to fold it five ways and put it where the sun don’t shine.

Then I’d retract all the “drunk” stuff and replace it with “mentally unbalanced.”

But that’s me. Letters from lawyers make me go all Maxine Waters on a freak.

  • Tbone

than to be thought a fool.

Were she, or for that matter anyone connected to her smart, she would have plead out to one glass of wine too many and apologized.

  • zrhlaw

I just don’t think it’s wise to throw about words such as “drunk” when describing someone unless you know for a fact that was the case.

?To all employees: If you must drink during lunch, please drink whiskey. It is much better for our clients to know that you are drunk rather than think you are stupid.?

  • turbocohen

400 bloggers and no video? C’mon

  • turbocohen

Red State was thought to be THE place to find independent conservative writers and bloggers. Lo and behold, this is an establishment tool. http://www.bearingdrift.com/2011/08/24/the-rise-and-fall-and-rise-of-jamie-radtke/

  • gekster

If there was one, it would have come out.

  • runner12

Obviously you were not around during the debt-ceiling debate around here where Erick was screaming “hold the line” to the establishment. He was getting it from all sides, including from some long time members on this site. He was even called an “intransigent purist” or something to that effect.

That is hardly the position of an establishment hack and/or blog. You really need to Google ” debt-ceiling” and RS and you will clearly see that RS is not a “tool” of the establishment.

Good grief, we even had a photoshop contest to mock McCain calling the Tea Party Hobbits. You should Google that one too, it was hilarious.

  • JSobieski

At this point the word “establishment” has been stretched to mean anything that someone doesn’t agree with. It is a lazy lazy word.

  • runner12

little debate and still do not, I am beginning to see where you are coming from.

Like I said before, an establishment politician/person is defined by record/votes and/or actions not just because you do not like them.

  • gt80

?My bosses are huge Allen friends, not just fans. They are socially connected,? Erickson wrote in the message, which was sent to Politico by Radtke?s campaign manager. ?So I?m having to tread carefully in this. Happy to help, but it?s got me in a difficult position. So please come and let me introduce you to people, but just understand that I have to be delicate for now.?

And the response for her releasing this email that Erick himself confirmed? Claim she was drunk. Still no video though. Nice. Amateurs.
