The Ad Campaign

I have in my head an ad campaign I think the GOP should get ready to roll out for the general election, regardless of the nominee.

In Idaho, a man saw a female grizzly bear enter his backyard while his kids were playing in the back yard. He did the only reasonable thing he could. He got a gun and killed the bear. Then he immediately called the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. The federal government is now prosecuting him for killing the grizzly instead of letting it kill and eat his kids.

In Virginia, an 11 year old rescued a protected woodpecker species from the jaws of a cat and kept it in a cage to make sure it would survive. A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services official showed up on the family’s front door step with a state trooper and ordered the girl’s mother to appear in federal court on charges that could send her to jail for a year. Only an ensuing media backlash got the government to stand down.

Then there is the Gibson guitar case where the government, assuming the facts are as presented, wanted Gibson Guitar to create jobs, not in the United States, but in Madagascar and India.

There are the independent oil and gas companies in Louisiana shut down by Barack Obama taking advantage of the BP oil spill crisis to rid himself of Gulf of Mexico oil drillers.

The list goes on and on. So the ad would be very simple.

Victim of government abuse looks into the camera and tells his/her story.

Candidate then says, “Barack Obama’s government has gone wild. Is it any wonder businesses are worried about investing and citizens cannot find jobs? It’s time to tame Washington.”

Barack Obama might want to run against Congress, but it is not John Boehner’s branch of government fining eleven year olds and hauling men off to jail for saving their children’s lives.

Telling the truth about the Left hurts them more than their lies about us hurt us.

  • popster

It simply tells it like it is, political correctness and progressive/socialism run amok. Big Brother is getting bigger.

  • http://www.doctor-bob.biz rsklaroff

Dramatizing every effort by BHO to ENHANCE unemployment.

  • diehardcon

BTW Erick, where is the Horserace this week???
I’m expecting it now like an addict…….thx!

  • cwfoster

The tagline for the ads (do a whole series one story with details every ad) could be: “is this the change you hoped for?”

  • libertyjustice

I have been thinking for MONTHS, that nearly ANYONE could defeat this incumbent by running adds that say nothing more than what the Old Left Media refuse to report.

  • radicalrabbi

Does anyone remember the left’s ad against Goldwater where the show a little girl playing and then the shot of a nuclear explosion? This is the ad that changed a lot of people’s minds about voting for Goldwater; it was pathetic.
How about this idea, show a clip of any Soviet leader speaking; at the bottom, place a translation that would run something like this. “We love your Obama! He does exactly as he is told. Next scene, Obama telling “plumber” Joe you have to spread the wealth.” Another clip of another Communist leader, say Fidel Castro at one of his many speeches. Again at the bottom the translation, “A vote for Obama is a vote for a “worker’s paradise such as we have here in Cuba.
The possibilities are endless and it drives home the point. The man is a Marxist; pure and simple, short and sweet. There is no other way to describe his ideology.

Show a bunch of scrolling tickers like you see on the financial new sites. Show the price of oil going up, the stock market falling. show unemployment rising.

Show this on a back drop of people in unemployment lines and picket lines.

Then just have a voice over of Obama during some of his moments off of the teleprompter, stumbling for words and insulting average Americans.

Then end it with his quote saying “Well if the job doesn’t get done then you are looking at a one term proposition.” (paraphrased from memory)

  • cfoy65

I am so glad you posted this article Erick….Some of the stories that you read you think can’t possibly be happening. I was just thinking the other day what a great ad this would be. I think a visual montage of these people would put a face on goverment insanity. You could also include all those stories about the people who were being busted by the Dept. of Agriculture(if I remember correctly) over having too many rabbits!

  • throwback59

    morphing into “Hoax and Chains”.

  • kchenault

Erick, that just makes too much sense. The GOP would never go for that. Keep pushing for it though ’cause I like it. Truth!

  • quill67

Most Americans do not know what has been going on under Obama. All they see is unemployment going up. This is my top 10 offense list (but it is only from memory)

    10. Obama’s National Labor board prohibits new Boeing from opening new plant in South Carolina.
    9. EPA regulate CO2 without congressional authority. Projected to shut 20 electricity power plans in next 18 months.
    8. FCC imposes regulations of internet against court order and without congressional authority.
    7. ObamaCare prohibits doctor owned hositals from taking Medicare patients.
    6. ObamaCare drives many current insurance companies out of market.
    5. ObamaCare projected to cause 30 million to lose private coverage.
    4. Fiancial reform bill designed by Goldman Sacs hurting financial markets.
    3. Politically connected get wavers from ObamaCare. So our laws are only for some people to follow.
    2. Trillion dollar deficits–Just in one year!
    1. Encouraging Fed to drive down value of dollar to save banks (that should fail)

  • earlgrey

These things need to be said.

What kills me is I have been on blogs with liberals who hate republicans, but they agree with me on lots of things. It really is time to connect the dots.

Who will reduce the scope of government in our lives?

The size of government is the number one issue to me when I enter the voting booth. It cures the deficit, need for higher taxes, jobs and hopefully is reduced enough to pay off debt. The size of government rules over everything.

If you only wound the Leviathan with someone only half committed reducing the size of DC, then it will heal and return even more determined to grow.

That is why I will vote for Ron Paul.

Of course, the “racist” accusations would be heard on Pluto.

None-the-less, it’s true. Obama was and is woefully inadequate to handle the presidency, regardless of his skin color. His mind is too small and narrow. He can’t comprehend the parameters of his job. He can’t see beyond his and his coffee-shop discussion group’s pedestrian, college-campus ideology, and he hasn’t the character or the maturity to grow beyond it: to accept that, while it was fun to rant and rave about a “proletariat dictatorship” back in the Chicago ‘hoods, that’s really nothing more than a spoiled little boy’s pipe dream, and it falls far short of comprehending the reality of the United States. He’s a sand-lot quarterback trying to play in the pros, and he can’t handle it, and it shows . . . and right now the country really can’t afford to lower the standard of its needs to accomodate his incompetence.

It’s not even so much that’s he stubbornly clings to his leftism. I mean, he’s not even a competent leftist. Ordinarily, along about now, he’d send in the tanks to enforce his edicts (like Lenin, Stalin, Castro, Mao, et al), but he can’t do that in this country: at least, not yet. So, he’s powerless: helpless: way beyond his level of competency.

Ironically, this is typical of the federal public sector. It’s like a big jobs program that hires incompetent people who are more adept at milking entitlement programs than accomplishing their tasks.

  • rulken

The Candidate that makes this “The Add Campaign”, part of his/her campaign platform, will walk away with the nomination. We only have to remind the public of the Debacle of this administrations past performances. No drilling now, here. Selling guns to Mexican drug dealers. No JOBS,JOBS,JOBS. Go bust, stimulus. The Candidates can go on, and on.
Anyone would be better than Obama, and I mean anyone! Only the mentally disturbed, will vote for the current Administration!

  • gunslingr45

GOP has no balls to run any kind of truth telling ad. Sorry that’s just the way it is.

  • rulken

Ron Paul is a good man, with integrity, but his “isolationist” take, on correcting the problems, fall short of the goals we need to focus on.
Perry want to grant 20million illegals amnesty, no good.
Romney wants to to get us on a federal Romney-care, no good.
Bachmann and Cain, both have Integrity and sound ideas on how to get the economy moving again. Bachmann, knows IRS.(she is a tax lawyer) and a constitutionalists. Cain knows business, and the regulations that are holding it back. Cain is full of common sense ideas! What a novelty!
I love them both, I don’t care how they would appear on the ticket. They have my vote!

  • rulken

We still have hope, now it’s you, we want to change,,, Obama!

  • rattlerjake

because anyone connected to the left will not believe anything that comes from the right. A rock could drop on their heads and they would say it’s a lie if a conservative told them it happened. Our only hope is for civil war and a chance to ERRADICATE the left and their useless views. When you have a problem with rats or roaches, you don’t just relocate them because they will continue to breed and to be a menace where ever you release them.

  • Spartan4Life

If Obama wants to run against Congress, I say let him. It will only point out that the choice in the next election is pretty simple.

He wants to go around saying that the reason he can’t fix our problems is because Congress won’t let him do all the screwy stuff he wants to do. “Can’t we all get along” is just code for not implementing any of Obama’s stupid ideas. I think the American people get that.

All the GOP has to say is, “Our job until we get a new president is to keep this president from doing any further damage so, yes, we have gridlock.”

The campaign message is simple. If we want to fix our problems we need a new president.

where is the GOP, have useless meeting wit the Dems, and drinking out of their gold rim tea sets and their golden spoons, get a mug you Bastards and start doing something for people, obama is passing anti job regulations and we don’t hear anything out there to let all know how he feels about jobs

  • rattlerjake

Every one of these articles dealing with politics and what’s wrong and what has to be done is nothing more than complaining. This country is standing on the edge of the cliff, and replacing a few dems with repubs in the senate, the house and the POTUS will solve nothing. Tyranny is upon us and we are like deer in the headlights! The spending needs to stop. Welfare and all BS entitlements need to stop immediately. If these leeches are hungry then set up soup kitchens and tent compounds, and wear cloths that are donated. All prisons need to immediately go to feeding “grog” instead of these diets that the average taxpayer can’t even afford, no schooling, no medical (other than true emergency care). No more free college until we are solvent again or businesses pay for it for pre employment, or scholarships. All this talk is wasting time that we don’t have. Cut all subsidies, if a business can’t run on it’s own now then it needs to fold, besides another one will spring up and take it’s place. Our borders need to be closed, and all illegals rounded up and sent home. We don’t need migrant workers, we need to take these freeloading liberal welfare pricks and make them harvest crops for their cot and meal. Enough off this BS sympathy for people that are USELESS!!!!!!!!

As a side note: The laws protecting our wildlife are supposed to be what the people want. We elected and hired these people to MANAGE our forests and wildlife, but not at the expense of an individual protecting his family. The people in the area this happened need to converge in mass on the courthouse and force them to drop the charges. IT CAN BE DONE!!!

I can see it and hear it.

to make “Obonehead” and his band of thugs look and sound as bad as possible. As for the upcoming speech,The Chump In Chief won’t have anything new to offer;just the same old yada, yada, yada and BS that we’ve all heard before. It’s time for the Repubs to man up and hammer the Dims as hard as possible——how’s the change and hope thingy working for you???

  • rightwingmom52

Democrats use kids for their purposes with little regard for the truth. In the instances you note, kids were indeed victims (and I hate to use the word victim but it fits). The man who shot the bear should be surrounded by his wife and kids, let the 11 year old girl speak for herself, and then line up the kids of the families who are out of work because of the strangling regulations and targeting of the DOJ. Maybe show the adults lined up at the unemployment line to hit home that Obama is responsible for the increase in entitlements and is forcing those had jobs into that line because not only is he failing to create new jobs, he’s killing the ones we have.

  • lineholder

Just a thought…maybe a short clip at the beginning defining the intendede purpose of government, then the examples you’ve mentioned exhibiting misuse/abuse of government. Establishes a basis for contrast and comparison for viewers.

  • Locked and Loaded

unless you and yours make it happen.

To that end, even though it is a small amount, and I can hardly afford even this sum, I pledge $10 to kick off the fundraising for trhis particular project, payable as soon as it is announced.

Eagle, Regnery, Redstate – one or all, I don’t know – has the infrastructure to make it happen, and it is your idea, so I believe nobody else will now run with this particular line.

It is yours. Respectfully I say: Don’t suggest it, make it happen. We’re behind you.

  • earlgrey

I dont know if you could join efforst with other conservative bloggers. For some reason I thought John Hawkins of Right Wng News had put together a PAC for defeating Obama. I could be wrong.

I hve thought about calling Gibson and asking them to put together a cool t-shirt that addresses what the Feds have done. I am sure they wouldn’t go along with it– not reason to make the feds any madder.

It always annoyed me all the libs spoting amnesty international shirts on college campuses to express concern over opressive governments. Conservatives have a wealth of examples from which to choose from under this administraiton.

RadicalRabbi, are you really a jew? If so, you are certainly in the minority for your view points. I live part time in Manhattan and find most jews are brainwashed Democrats to their detriment. I would like to hear people like Mukasy from the E 85th synogogue express these same views. Good comment from you.

  • The Pennsylvania Republican

outcry about the daily abuses being published in the news. Of course the media is not going to connect the dots, that the various and sundry federal departments (your “federal family”) are under the direct control of the executive branch. I’ve been posting some the stories on my twitter feed.

We need a specific “abuses.com” website!

  • renny

And no candidate should look into the camera but an over voice should say: This is the government of the left and the Demoncrats. Vote them out of office.

  • renny

They have been so notorious that Aug. 20th was Lemonade Stand Day.

  • runner12

The truth is the most effective weapon we have. That ad alone may send people running from Obama ( more than are currently doing so now).

  • hotnike

    LOVE IT.

    define tyranny yet?

  • http://uslibertyjournal.blogspot.com/ Daezy

Every day I pray to God there are people out there with the gonads to make such statements. The gloves MUST come off if we are going to save this country. It’s time to fight fire with fire!

    cage, neuter, deport.

Not my comment, it came from a conservative poster who was responding to a leftist commentor on a Yahoo news article.
It fits with what you are saying, rattler.

  • lastgopinillinois

Throw these ideas at Dick Armey and see what happens

and I agree with the Rabbi. Orthodox Jews have their heads on straight, and are very conservative. I’m truly distressed at the number of other Jews who still support Hussein. It truly baffles and embarrasses me.
