hitting the sidewalks from the upper floors. Walk past the Times building and you can hear the gnashing of teeth, the screams of the distraught, the shouts of the hospital attendents as they wrestle with and restrain the more more violent, and try and coax Krugman in from the ledge. Yes, the very sound of music.

    Don’t make me laugh. :)

Well, it is a difficult district for Democrats NOW.

It wasn’t for the last 90 years though.

I wonder what could have changed this district so much.
    Could it have been…global warming?

“Obama’s just playing rope-a-dope with the GOP…losing this seat was part of his re-election plan to dump the cruddy economy on Republican shoes.”

Not a joke…that was a verbatim email from a TB liberal.

    don’t coax him back in.

Dems are sore losers, like Clinton’s leaving white house.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they ramp up deliberate sabotage if/when it is apparent Obama will get beat badly in election.

PPP did a poll recently (it was on National Review yesterday) showing none of the republican candidates beating Obama in a head to head match-up. I am having trouble reconciling that with this recent special election. I know special elections are a bit tricky to use as an indicator, but this is New York.

I am afraid I too, have caught the Obama is toast fever, and need to keep realistic expectations, but this is all very confusing to me.

    Has Utah gone blue?

He believes in Obama and his policies like it is his faith. He is willingly deluding himself so that he doesn’t have to look at Obama, democrats and their policies in a rational way.

He is why people make fun of Obama as the messiah. His faith in Obama is no less than many have faith in Chrisitainity.

It was too soon to say it meant doom for the GOP when they lost one and it is too soon to say it means doom for the Dem’s as well. What it might be good for is seeing how each party AD’s did? What the pulling showed and as much Demographic info as you can have. In the end I am guessing this will be a local race turned by local issues. Remember DC once came close to having a Republican Mayor lost by only a few points and that is a city that votes 80 to 90% Democrat. I am still not sure what way the wind will be blowing come election day. Right now I suspect the GOP will have the wind to there backs pushing them forward. But the GOP has proven they are really good at not listening to the voters and voting like Dem’s.

    Thanks

There’s a big difference between asking whether you approve of Obama in an absolute sense, or whether you prefer him to some specified alternative.

Let’s face it, the GOP candidates have negatives to overcome too, and they haven’t had time to do that yet. Romney has a reputation as a flip-flopper, and Perry is not well known yet by most Americans other than us political junkies. They may well be thinking that Perry is another Bush, who is still relatively unpopular.

This is why the GOP wants to make the 2012 election a referendum on Obama: If you disapprove of Obama, then vote GOP just to be rid of Obama.

Whereas the Dems want to make the 2012 election a choice between Obama and the GOP nominee (especially if that nominee is Perry): Whom do you feel more comfortable with (especially after we’ve spent $1 billion smearing the GOP candidate)?

Obama does worse with the first frame, and better with the second.

Something about the fact that thousands of American troops have died based upon that war seems off color. I expect more and usually get it from this site. Too far and too low.
