Can We Get A Do Over In Alabama 2?

pathetic |p?’THetik|

adjective

1 arousing pity, esp. through vulnerability or sadness: she looked so pathetic that I bent down to comfort her.

informal miserably inadequate: his test scores in Chemistry were pathetic.

2 archaic relating to the emotions.

3 political representing Lower Alabama and only scoring 58% on Heritage Action for America’s scorecard: Martha Roby is pathetic.

Back in 2010, we backed Rick Barber in Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District. At the time, I wrote

Martha Roby is unimpressive. She is typical of what we like to call the country club Republicans, but more accurately the status quo Republicans. She’ll bring home the bacon. She’ll vote the right way on most issues. But she’s not going to get her hands dirty fighting for freedom.

I have been proven right. In a solidly conservative district, Martha Roby scores a pathetic 58% on the Heritage Action scorecard. And yes, when you represent Lower Alabama and only score 58% on a conservative scorecard, you are definitionally pathetic.

She has led on nothing conservatives care about and voted against conservatives on much that they do care about. She has carried water for the leadership, betrayed her conservative constituents, and failed to fight against the tide of creeping socialism in the country. But she’s got a pretty smile.

If the tea party wants a do-over, AL-02 would be a good place to start.

because if we can’t elect a conservative in Montgomery, Alabama, then we might as well quit.

Considering the first bill she sponsored was one to de-fund Planned Parenthood I don’t think the statement “she has led on nothing conservatives care about” is accurate. I don’t live in her district but I work in AL politics and haven’t heard anything like the level of dissatisfaction you’re describing among the majority of her constituents I interact with. And we all know there is quite often more to the story beyond a simple yea or nay vote on a particular bill. However, no argument against you challenging some of her votes, but calling her pathetic is a bit harsh in my opinion.

and the AL GOP backed Roby.

I agree that Roby’s rating is pathetic, but Montgomery is the biggest cesspool of corruption in the state with the possible exception of Jefferson County (Birmingham). Personally, I give the edge to Montgomery.

Same problem in Alabama 1 ,,,….Jo Bonner. He ducked his constituents over the summer.Didn’t want to face the reaction to some of his recent votes especially on the budget deal) with no town hall meetings. Republican leadership tells him to jump and he says how high. As I recall Heritage has given him a 57% Conservative ranking.Oh how I wish there was a real Conservative to run against this Republican establishment lackey.

With the exception of Jeff Sessions and Mo Brooks, pathetic describes pretty much the entire Alabama delegation in my opinion. Sessions and Brooks are the only ones that scored above 70% on the Heritage Action scorecard. For a conservative state like Alabama, that is pathetic. The whole bunch down here is far more concerned with bringing home the bacon and stuffing their warchests than they are with doing what’s right. I think we need to call a Mulligan on the whole pathetic crew.

The AL center of gravity politically needs to shift to Birmingham, a notably strong economic center of innovation, entrepreneurship, employment and yes even redeeming federal dollars in public private partnerships supporting our military.

I respect Heritage and their rating – take it to the bank, she’s what we thought she was! Roby is a sellout and needs to get kicked out. Let’s start now – whatever it takes, within the party and electoral process and without. She won’t step down gracefully, so let her run…

You guys have lost it. I am from AL 02 and Roby enjoys great support – including from the tea party. Don’t think so? Call the tea party leaders in AL 02 and ask them. It’s amazing how folks like Erickson like to throw rocks from on high yet know zilch about where the rubber truly meets the road. Get out of your office and come to South Alabama, dude. Come on down to a town hall in AL 02 – maybe you can have your eyes opened to reality. Conservatives, including those in the tea party, support Roby. And as you mentioned Rick Barber, call up Rick and ask him what he thinks, Erick. Your post is all bark and no bight from a supposed insider. All I can say is – either come down to AL 02 and get in the game or stay in your office and be quiet.

I guess we can close this thread.

So what kind of conservatism do you adhear to.

I am surprised my sister did not inform me of your all knowing words considering she is a part of the tea party in AL 02, can not stand Roby, and knows quite a few other people inside the tea party and out who also have no use for the pathetic Roby.

But guess she is not where the “rubber meets the road” and was also not aware you knew what everyone was thinking and was the official spokesman for all the AL 02.

Call on down to conservatives in AL 02 and see how Roby is doing. The leaders of the tea party are easily found….and they seem pretty darn happy with Roby.
