BREAKING: Huckabee reconsidering (Not Really) (Well Maybe)

UPDATE 2: Just got off the phone with someone else who tells me that yes, in fact, Team Huckabee is considering this.

UPDATE 1: The Huckabee folks say this is news to them.

————————-

Reuters reports Mike Huckabee is reconsidering an entry into the Presidential field.

I had said before he decided not to run that I wished he would get in the race because his sunny optimism about the country and ability to speak on the stump so well were needed if only to force the rest of the team to their A game.

I still kind of feel that way, though I think Herman Cain is going be the guy to do that.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Huck get in, though I still dislike his economic policy unless he’s evolved on that. I also still think it is really too late for anyone to get in.

Given, however, his existing fundraising base, he might be the one guy who could do it. But I think it is kind of late.

    Surely you jest…

    Erick,

What don’t you like about Huckabee’s econmic policy?

    Please share. Thanks!

but if we can “welcome” every other Tom, Dick and Mary into the race, why not him?

Besides, the Becker is gonna be so fun to watch.

and increased taxes to fund said expansion. He also governed in one of the most dishonest and irresponsible ways possible: misappropriated public property for his own use, appointed inexperienced cronies, and used his faith as a bludgeon to get people to support his big government initiatives. Rhetorically, he sounds like your standard Democrat: calling the Club for Growth the “Club for Greed”, for example. He doesn’t seem to understand why economic freedom is important or worthwhile.

Then there are his problems with foreign policy — simply put, the man is clueless and incoherent on this issue, going from being a full-throated defender of Bush’s foreign policy to trotting out the most abjectly idiotic criticisms of same.

Is his primary qualification that nobody else is running away with it yet?

Or does he think he’s not just another suit?

That is, a suit with a guitar?

come out attacking romney & his sidekick Cain and you can instantly be a frontrunner, Change Jar Conservative.

My first thought was conspiracy theory but with Cain endorsing romney and Huckabee pushing romney, it appears that romney is attempting to buy the nomination.

    Anyone? Bueller?

The whole hatred of Romney makes me laugh. I have problems with his record and the ease which he parses his history so much that it seems like has taken every position possible on every issue. But I think we have really short memories given that Romney was seen as the “true conservative” in the 2008 race. Yeah it’s true that he was up against McCain and Huckabee but still…

every Republican governor, senator and representative is considering running for the nomination. Now it’s up to all of them them to refute the reports and battle the media who accuse them of teasing us.

    Sarc tag off.

The MSM is playing us with all this speculation, hoping to keep us from focusing on the real candidates.

romney is about as conservative as hillary. She was a Goldwater Girl in High School, you know?

romney is about as conservative as my yellow dog.

by this time would have started to solidify, instead they all seem to be so underwhelming that anyone and everyone is considering jumping in whether its Palin or Huckabee or whoever. Hopefully these are all just bored media floating rumors but its a little disconcerting.

  • keven

He raised just 16 million in the last election in a good economy in an entire year. While getting 25% of the vote. He would be lucky to raise 5 million dollars this time. Probably more like 3 million.

    I’d rather have Palin run.

I’d almost rather have Ron Paul.

We don’t need a HUGE government conservative.
