EDITOR OF REDSTATE

Barack Obama is No Underdog. He’s a Political Loser.

Barack Obama told ABC News yesterday that he is the “underdog” in 2012. He actually raced to embrace the title George Stephanopolous threw out there for him. There was no deliberation, no pause — just an immediate “absolutely” to lay claim to the title.

First understand that the Obama wants to be the underdog because of America’s fixation with rooting for the guy behind. He sees it as a positive.

Second, understand that underdogs do not get to take campaign bus tours through swing states at taxpayer expense on buses paid for by taxpayers and also fly around in a blue and white 747 and get pretty much as much free press as he wants, including great photo ops in front of Congress talking about jobs.

Underdogs do not get that.

Incumbent Presidents get that. And incumbent Presidents do not, more than year from an election get to call themselves “underdogs,” if ever they do. When a President is a year from election, sees his popularity going down, and can’t even muster enough Democrats to vote for his jobs plan because they neither fear nor respect him, the President is not an underdog. He is a loser.

This President is a political loser. Every time he speaks the stock market goes down. Every time he acts boldly, independents attribute it to increasing political desperation without seriousness. Every time he tries to lead, his own party privately mocks him.

Jimmy Carter was no underdog and neither is Barack Obama. With the trappings of power, the brightest men in the room to advise them, and massive war chests — Obama’s is the biggest there is — he is not an underdog.

And it’s not just because he is a political loser. Americans cheer underdogs. No one is cheering Barack Obama.

the better part of valor.BHO has neither and is a lying so and so to boot.It truly amazes me that he was elected in the first place but even more amazing is the roughly 37% who say they will vote for his sorry arse again. It’s scary just how far from reality these people really are. Please let those of us who are not brain dead survive long enough to rid America of the cancer living at our expense at 1600 Pa. Ave.

Well stated redpenny. The spoilers are beyond the understanding of producing citizens. It is sad there are so many grasshoppers.

As someone who isn’t widely known for making coherent and truth filled statements I thought it strange that he would say The Big 0 owned the economy and was going to have to deal with that reality. Now it is all becoming clear. It wasn’t a thoughtful statement about where the administration is. It was part of a carefully scripted media strategy to position The Big 0 for his “surprise” comeback over the next year. Biden and the rest of the administration, including those who are stationed in the press rather than White House, are all in on one of the few well orchestrated plans ever produced by this loser.

In a “normal” (say, 1980) election year, Obama would be toast, losing even most Blue states. However, my worry is that the Leftist financiers are already planning a fake Tea Party candidacy, to siphon off conservative voters, or perhaps to force the GOP nominee to make issue concessions that could turn off some undecided or independent voters. I’m just curious whether they’ll try running a politician or a business type, and just how they might organize it all. If the GOP doesn’t pick someone who can unite the right and the middle, I can really see this becoming a problem, maybe even attracting some “not fake” types running as third parties as well. The specter of 1992 looms large. I hope I’m wrong.

  • anjinconsulting

Anyone with common sense can see that ABC and Lil’ George are nothing but administration mouthpieces anyway.

In my opinion, the best thing conservatives could do is ignore them both and keep the focus on the damage this clown has wrought on the economy since he was imaculated by the media. They sold him to the country so they own him lock, stock and barrel. We should remind them of it every time the issue of Captain Zero’s incompetence or ineffectiveness comes up.

Since 1980 there has been a 14 point drop in the percentage of voters who are white. In 1980, 88% of the voters were white. In 2008, 74% of the voters were white.

And typically the GOP does poorly with minority voters.

I’ve run the percentages of white/black/Hispanic voters that Reagan won in 1980 against the changed demographics of 2008. Reagan won in 1980 by winning 56% of the white vote. But if only 74% of the voters were white, Reagan would have gotten only about 49% of the total popular vote. That’s right! Reagan might have LOST the election. That’s what a 14 point drop in the white vote will do–unless the GOP figures out how to do much better with black and Hispanic voters.

Which is what he really means, especially with the most Americans living in poverty in decades while the only time he cares about that is when it’s time for reelection. Even then, he only cares enough to dodge the blame for the persistent economic morass by making himself look like an underdog. Poor downtrodden and blameless Obama. Sorry, but shifting blame does nothing to put food on the table.

While the content of Erick’s post may be obvious to anyone paying attention, it is to our detriment to ignore it in the national narrative. That BO was elected in the first place should be proof enough that voters don’t often understand the obvious, and that they are all too willing to be spoonfed by a sympathetically Leftist Media.

If they are going to push the “Underdog” Narrative, then we Conservatives should be aware of it, and be well-versed in the counter-argument.

While the idea behind ignoring the Underdog Narrative may be sound, it is more appropriate, I think, to drag it out and mock it publicly — to show it, and Obama with it — as the farce that it is.

  • daniel22

He did win the presidency after all. He did get Obamacare passed and he is using federal offices and executive orders to circumvent Congress to get his way. He ain’t no loser.
He won the presidency by divide and conquer. You could observe this by the Democratic primaries. The media aided and abetted his efforts with the Republicans as well. His campaign was very well orchestrated. With a couple of modifications he is doing the same again. Look at this dust up between Perry and Cain. Look at the blame game with Congress going on now. None of the key Democratic players are up for re-election so they are safe to carry some of the guilt for not supporting the presidents proposals. After all when was the last time you heard from Pelosi?
So don’t put Obama in the category of loser lest you want to be bitten.

will continue to do more “losing” in a second term unless enough of “we the people” get involved in Get Out The Vote where we live. A good places to start are with the campaigns of your favorite Constitutional conservative Republican candidates and your local Republican Party committee. The sooner you get involved, the more you’ll learn about how best to be effective and efficient. See the links below for more information about how to get involved.

I am far less interested in which of the current Republican contenders for the Republican nomination for the presidency utlimately wins the nomination than whether we Republicans will significantly increase the percentage of registered Republicans, and otherwise Republican-leaning voters, who will actually vote for our nominee in the 2012 election.

In my precinct, we have 895 registered Republicans and 8 Republican Precinct committeeman slots, with all 8 filled. By doing some very basic filtering of the voter records of the voters in my precinct, using the Republican Party’s Voter Vault system,I was able to determine the following regarding the Republican voters.

Of the 895 Republican voters, 329, or 36.7%, are ?perfect voters;? they voted in the last 2 primaries and last 2 general elections.

66 of the total, 7.3%, were ?zeroes;? they did not vote at all in the last four elections.

113 of the total, 12.6%, were ?1 in fours;? they only voted once in the last four elections.

121 of the total, 13.5%, were ?2 in fours;? they only voted twice in the last four elections.

That?s a total of 300, or 33.5%, of the whole who are, shall we say, less than stellar Republicans in terms of casting a vote despite the fact that some Americans fought for, and fought and died for, the right of these Republicans to elect those who are to represent them in the halls of government.

And, we have 20 brand new registered voters who are newly registered in our precinct.

So, the 8 of us have 320 Republican voters we need to go out and ?touch? somehow to urge them and help them to cast their ballots. That?s just 40 a piece. We figure we don?t need to ?touch? (by touch, I mean call, visit, leave literature at their door, etc.) the Perfect Voters and those who voted 3 out of 4 times ? these are the Republicans who will most probably vote again with no prodding. But we PCs will need to reach out to the others and make sure they vote this time.

Just 40 a piece. A cake walk. A few hours of time.

However, we will contact the Perfect Voters and those who voted 3 out of 4 times and ask them to attend our monthly committee meetings. We figure these voters might be interested in becoming more active in the Party — perhaps becoming precinct committeemen or PC assistants.

We here in the Phoenix area have a couple of “dry runs” to help us focus on Get Out The Vote over the next few months. First, we have state Sen. Russell Pearce facing a recall election on Nov. 8 and we also have Phoenix mayor and city council elections on Nov. 8. But most people vote by early ballot, so we Republicans are scrambling to help GOTV for the conservative Republicans in these races. (Sen. Pearce is the author of the anti-illegal immigration bill, SB 1070, and he is being challenged in the recall election by another Republican who is backed by a leftist union organizer.) In the spring of 2012 we will have Republican candidates to help get elected in the Tempe mayoral and city council races.

Lots to do! If we all do a little, we can accomplish much.

    Thank you.

During that interview, Obama admitted/said that the American people are not better off now than they were four years ago.

That statement might as well be Obama’s political epitaph.

If Mr. Preibus and the RNC had any sense, they’d craft the question and Obama’s response into a political ad and play it daily next fall.

  • blooch

to the hilt get the word out about that Radiohead concert in the Mojave Desert next November 6th.

  • Ned Reck

And would you believe that… when Obama was a kid growin’ up in rural Hawaii… he walked six miles to school barefooted… in the snow… uphill both ways.

Ya know what’s funny ’bout that interview: Obama spit that out with a straight face… and George Stenographer licked it right up as if it was the pure gospel truth. Oh GS… what a dufas.

One wonders how long it will be before Obama comes out of the Imperial Palace in gaudy generalissimo garb claiming to be a humble man of the people.

    Yeah, right.

Do you realize how poorly a Dem president has to be to give away the power of incumbency, MSM adoration, and a billion dollars in campaign funds to become an underdog?

  • perfectlyaged

During one of Obama’s televised rallies, there were two women walking arm in arm from the ralley and a reporter stopped them and ask where they were going. Their answer was they were going to get their money. The reporter ask where they were getting their money and they answered from Obama. Of course, the reporter ask the two of them where was Obama going to get the money and their answer was “from his stash”…these are the same voters who will stand staunchly with Obama even though they have not got their money from Obama’s stash!
It is frightening that some Americans are so gullible and blinded!

  • ihateliberals

is that Obama will be pulled and someone else runs on the Democratic ticket. If that happens the Democrats will win Hands down because the independents will flock back to the Democrats. the only reason they are for the Republicans now is that they are against Obama. But if they have a choice other than Obama and the choice is a Liberal Liberal or a Republican Liberal it is a no brainer for them.

  • liberal_lurker_2012

Incompetence is obvious! I wholeheartedly believe this. If Obama is such a loser and incompetent POS, then why is any legit candidate scared to run (i.e. Jeb Bush, Chris Christie).

If I had the opportunity to do anything against a loser, I would relish the opportunity. The GOP cannot get any support for one candidate and beg for others on a seasonal basis.

Subconsciously, I think the GOP is scared dookie-less of 44. This is the reason Erick keeps refocusing the blog on the local races ans he is keenly aware that the GOP will have their arse handed to them in the general. Mitt Romney, LOL.

The only ticket with a chance of success is a combination of Cain and Christie. But Pork Chop Christie won’t risk his gov’ment check to fulfill his civic duty. The weakness of the GOP is impressive.

I remember back in the Clinton” cigar” years Rush was doing his commentary and George was going to make a rather abrupt appearance at some function to berate somebody and Rush call him Clinton’s “Attack Puppy” ! Even today when I see George I see him with a red bow tied in his hair looking for an ankle to bite.
