From the Mail Bag: Anti-Mormon Bigot Edition

Yes, it is because we are anti-Mormon bigots. That’s it. It has nothing to do with this or with this.

Thanks a lot for playing the Huckabee this year! Huckabee, the bigoted Baptist, took Romney out in 2008 when he colluded with McCain just so a Mormon wouldn’t be elected and what happened? We got Obama!

Romney is true to his principles. You just haven’t taken the time to really understand him.
Maybe, just maybe, it’s because he’s a Mormon.

…to note, in purely political cold hard facts, that Mormonism is a negative for Romney’s chances of success without it being a statement on Mormonism?

Most Mormons I know are principled, disciplined, and comitted family values people who not only talk the talk but walk the walk…My problem with Romney isn’t that he’s Mormon….it’s that he’s not Mormon enough!

  • AceInTX

maybe if he and his psycophantic friends keep this foolishness up, they will turn enough voters off to the point where Romney will lose NH and we can finally dispense with him once and for all!!!

  • streiff

I find Romney’s supporters so loathsome that it makes it difficult to support him..

Funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. When he was campaigning in S. Carolina earlier this month some little ole lady confused his religion. From NRO:

“But Romney, a Mormon from Massachusetts who has flip-flopped on abortion and gay marriage, is a tough sell here. ?I?m a Christian and he?s a Muslim,?? said Kathryn Wilson, 92, a former science teacher in Spartanburg. Told he is a Mormon, she said, ?They don?t have it straight either.??

    Too cute.

Only then it was “Maybe, just maybe, it’s because he’s black.”

    Great point

    …it’s because he’s Mitt. Romney.

  • Darin_H

I assume he’s a lobbyist and he’s hoping for Mitt to get a “business as usual” administration. He certainly doesn’t want anyone who will rock his gravy trainboat.

I could see him with an (I) beside his name, like Lieberman. But I don’t see him as a constitutional party, republican party or a libertarian party kind of person. Indie seems to fit his profile well.

    as playing the race card.

Conservatives have literally dozens of good reasons not to vote for Romney. More than any candidate in the field by far.

I’m sick to death of this CRAP that if you oppose Romney, you oppose Mormons or Mormonism.

I’m LDS and to say that I’m “orthodox” is a gross understatement. I have been through the Temple and carry a current recommend. If you know anything about Latter-day Saints, you know how important those things are to us in order to be considered active and faithful.

Having said that, let me be clear (to quote our “beloved” president):

I opposed Romney in 2008 and I oppose him now. His uncle Marion was a member of our First Presidency and I honor his service. Mitt was a bishop and a stake president and I honor HIS service. Mitt might be a great bishop or stake president and I would have no problem with him being called as a general authority, should that ever happen. I don’t judge a man or his heart.

But I don’t in any way want Romney to be president of the United States. I don’t trust his incessant flip-flopping.

Personally, I like Newt right now. (*gasp* a catholic adulterer!) Does that make me an apostate to my faith? Hardly. I just think that Newt (and several others) would be a better president than Romney. If my church leaders want to appoint Romney to a position, that’s fine and I support them. But it’s important to remember that my church doesn’t endorse specific candidates.

I oppose Harry Reid in nearly every way. Does that make me anti-Mormon too?

  • christopherestep

I actually agree. I’m LDS and it’s unfortunate that it’s a negative, but I know how we are perceived. Having said that, Romney’s problem with the base have absolutely nothing to do with his faith, it has to do with his positions (or lack thereof).

    Greg is a anti-Texan bigot…..

Since neither Dear Abby or Ann Landers are available any longer…I thought I would write to you instead.

You see, I too am a Mormon–Anti-Mormon Bigot — Please help me figure out why it is that I don’t want Mitt Romney to be my president.

    Signed,

    Confused in Oklahoma.

He’s just jealous of Texas sized “job growth”.

Which should surprise us, is Romney is indeed the inevitable one. What’s there to be bitter about if the nomination is going to be handed to him on a silver platter? Oh wait…

Gingrich has as many problems as Romney without the business experience – unless you consider shaking down Freddie Mac for almost 2 million dollars business experience. The DNC isn’t targeting Newt but they are Romney. All I need to know. Romney 2012.

  • williamjameson

Religion isn’t important because Romney has religion and this clown watched too much lame stream media and has fallen for the NLP neuro linguistic programming used to hoodwink watchers. Gotta watch with the head turned slightly or squint your eyes while discriminating the talking points nonsense. Only the gullible believe such crapola. Funny to read though!!!

…and watch Romney face unemployment yet again in 2012.
