Twice I selected bama, and then clicked vote. Both times it told me that I hadn’t made a selection.

Have Alabama and Oklahoma State play each other with the winner getting their shot at LSU.

Of course that is getting dangerously close to a playoff and at this point, it would take an act of Congress to enact a playoff system. Then again, any involvement from our legislative branch will probably just make things worse.

    Ugh…I’ll just vote for Alabama.

    /SEC bias

  • citizenkh

    had their chance, and lost.

    OSU was dominating last night.

  • DerKrieger

…fan/alumnus and SEC fanatic I think AL is the better team but I’d prefer to see LSU beat up on a non-SEC team rather than watch a rematch of an SEC conference game.

I always enjoy the bowl games as well so I can watch SEC domination continue ;)

  • Tbone

should they have to beat them? If they did it again so what? OSU would rightly claim that LSU hadn’t played them.

If it is an LSU Tide replay, why watch? Just replay the first game.

AlaBAMA! 3 heisman’s and 3 BCS’s in a row for the state. 7 in a row for the SEC.

    ROLL TIDE!

can compete with LSU. A Bama rematch tells us nothing.

  • heraklios

that no one seriously believes Okie St. is even in the same league. AL went 11-1 (7-1 SEC) only losing in OT to LSU. Can’t see anyone but the Tide giving LSU a game.

  • gator_hoo

    Texas’s couldn’t, Oklahoma’s couldn’t, Oregon (not Big-12 but Big 12 style) couldn’t. Let’s not pretend we don’t know how this story ends.

I’m not a big fan of a rematch, but Bama simply deserves it more than OSU

“the Crimson Tide have beaten just three — repeat, three — teams with winning records. Meanwhile, if Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma, it will be an 11-1 major-conference champ that beat five current BCS Top 25 teams (compared to Alabama’s two)”

3 teams with winning records? LOL

  • gator_hoo

Against a banged-up OU team that lost to Texas Tech at home. Alabama dominated Auburn in their last game of the season, don’t know what difference a week makes

  • dfaith

Oklahoma State has beat five top 25 teams compared to Alabama’s two, and 7 FBS teams with winning records compared to Alabama’s three. Oklahoma State is a conference champion. Sure, Oklahoma State’s loss is worse than Alabama’s, but all things considered, Oklahoma State deserves to be in the big game.

  • cptbman

Alabama, no question. LSU’s win over the Tide was a dumb fluke. Alabama dominated that game. They would’ve won 15-6 if they could kick field goals.

It was a great feeling to beat the Sooners decisively last night and win the Big 12. We want our shot at LSU!

    Go Pokes!

  • kcdude

I am an SEC fan but I do not see a team that did not win the division or the conference should get a shot. No matter who plays, LSU is really tough.

  • Blue_State_Refugee

They beat ‘Bama at ‘Bama. The BS bowl game is only about having the best team emerge. We already know LSU is better than ‘Bama. Bring on the next victim instead.

  • circlegranch

pulled off another one. Even John Elway HAS to be coming around. The Monsters of the Midway go to Denver next week. Should be a good street fight!

  • znjs

This Vikings fan honestly believed we were winning this week. And no, I’m not a hope springs eternal fan – I called 4-12 at the start of the year – although actually now I suppose that was an optimistic prediction. But generally I’m extremely pessimistic about my sports teams. But I liked this matchup, right up until the vikes linebackers disappeared in the 2nd half and let McGahee run all over them. I want to know what he averaged per carry in the 2nd half.

  • boonerdan

I stopped watching college football 2 years ago until they institute a playoff system. Until then, there is no “national champion”; only a beauty contest winner.

Sorry Bama fans, this HOG says no, make OSU play LSU and see what happens…….as for 2012, you have to come to OUR house and try it again……..=P

  • gator_hoo

A lot of those stats are misleading, particularly with the SEC’s tendency to devour its own. Bama has the best win, Arkansas, and the best nonconference win, Penn State.

Also, look at the top SEC teams’ noncon schedule v. Big 12′s noncon schedule

SEC schools have wins against Oregon, Penn State, A&M, Clemson, Ga Tech, West Virginia, & Georgia Tech.

Big 12-2 schools have nonconference wins over such powerhouses as Arizona, Florida State, UCLA, Miami, and Iowa.

The SEC has proven its place on top of the hill. The Big 12 shouldn’t benefit from its destructive inbreeding.

  • gator_hoo

When Tebow hands off, the LBs have to stay honest for a split second longer to keep contain on the QB, that helps the running back to find holes. Certainly, McGahee deserves his fair share of the credit, but Tebow helps too.

  • znjs

But that was also true in the first half when the Broncos couldn’t get anything going. In general the vikes linebackers disappearing has been a big problem all year long – last week was the first week I heard any linebacker mentioned more then 1 time in a game other then the initial introduction. The first half of this week gave me hope that that pattern would continue. But EJ just doesn’t look like the same guy anymore – injuries have just destroyed his burst. Erin Henderson is no one special. And Greenway has been the biggest disappointment – making plenty of tackles but way too many after a big gain.

Granted I’m no big film breakdown expert – maybe the real problem is the line not tying up blockers long enough (Their d-line has been overrated the last 2-3 years, yes even during the good Favre year). But these linebackers used to be able to beat blocks once in a while. Now you almost never see them do it.

  • mikeymike143

and after the BCS national championship, the SEC will have 6 national championship wins in a row

  • mikeymike143

tim is a winner. pure and simple.

This coming from a person who is only excited about football when patriotism is involved ;)

  • 1bunny

Last night was a nail biter at first. We had to attend a business function and all we knew was LSU was down 10 – 0 in the 2nd quarter then someone sneaked off to get the game stats on their iphone and started a whisper campaign to keep us LSU fans updated. Proud of those Tigers!

  • 1bunny

just saw this announcement on a Hot Air link. All the bowls have been settled. Oklahoma plays Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl.

  • http://www.examiner.com/x-1597-Charlotte-Law--Politics-Examiner Mike gamecock DeVine

But an all-SEC rematch will piss more people off and so might make a playoff in the future more likely.

So if Bama wins the rematch, whose sister do we kiss and do they play a tie breaker since they will be 1-1?

  • Locked and Loaded

what about the coaching matchup? A lot of Okies thought Gundy should have gotten the OSU job when Miles was brought in. I think OSU will get the bid; as to whether Bama should, I can’t say. I’m sure the committee will look long and hard at the fact that the Cowboys, on the very day they lost to Iowa State, had just found out about another plane crash taking some of their own, including ladies basketball head coach Kurt Budke.

  • Locked and Loaded

In fact, I wonder why I didn’t, because I had just read through all these comments. Oh well. Roll Tide.

  • Tbone

LSU/tide again accept the sore losers from Alabama looking for a do-over? It will prove nothing. If people want to see LSU play Alabama, just replay the one they played.

The BCS proves it was designed by a bunch of liberal college Presidents. I hate liberals.

  • gator_hoo

An all expenses paid trip to Tempe and a chance to watch Bama and LSU duke it out for #1

  • gator_hoo

That running games are better in the second half than the first. Defenses, who have to figure out the play, wear down more over the course of the game than offenses

  • nathanalbright

…but in all fairness the SEC did want to expand a 4-team playoff “plus one” format. I’m in favor of a 16 team playoff with 5 at-larges and all 11 conference champions playing it out bracket style. The SEC would be likely to have at least one or two of the at-larges, and its champion would have a cushy first round matchup against teams like Louisiana Tech or Arkansas State. That way if two SEC teams end up in the championship–they earned it. Not like now.

  • unapologetic_american

….is reason enough to boycott every other game this season. PATHETIC.

It’s only a matter of time before the other conferences start hiring private investigators to sniff out and expose the fraudulent academics, Scam Newtons, and other shady dealings in the SEC. I bet the playing field will level out significantly across college football once certain schools aren’t allowed to play just any moron they can drag out of the hood.

  • znjs

They shouldn’t be so worn down that they can’t do anything on the first drive after half time.

  • http://www.examiner.com/x-1597-Charlotte-Law--Politics-Examiner Mike gamecock DeVine

But it may be bets for a playoff push that two SEC teams play…

At least the Gamecocks beat the Gators…smile

  • http://www.examiner.com/x-1597-Charlotte-Law--Politics-Examiner Mike gamecock DeVine

I just don’t like non-conference champions in a non-playoff system. Its still a mythical national championship.

  • runner12

My OSU Cowboys got the shaft from the voters, with Saban clearly voting us low to help his own team out. What kind of system allows coaches to vote who clearly have an agenda?

Added to that is the insult that Michigan went to a BCS over a higher ranked K-State, as you mentioned. The Big 12 got the shaft twice over.

Oh well, at least we will get the opportunity to take Stanford apart and put them back together again (no disrespect to their quarterback, he is the real deal). It will be a challenge, but if we play like we did against OU we will win.
