EDITOR OF REDSTATE

The Bad Messaging of the Newt Gingrich Super PAC

I was surprised to land in Miami today for CNN’s coverage of the Florida Presidential Preference Primary and hear one Newt Super PAC ad over and over. I heard it on rock stations. I heard it on Rush Limbaugh. I heard it on a sports talk station.

It attacked Mitt Romney for abortion. Abortion. In a state with a massive housing crisis and a state that led the way in the fight on Obamacare, the Newt Super PAC decided to run ads in Miami, FL on abortion.

There is just one ad that the Newt Super PAC needs to run and that the Newt campaign itself needs to run. They need to take Rick Santorum’s attack on Romneycare from the CNN Jacksonville, FL debate and turn it into a commercial.

Costs are up in Massachusetts.

People wait 44 days to see a doctor.

And Mitt Romney considers his brainchild such a success he once wanted it as a model for the nation.

Run that over and over and over. Spending that much money on an abortion attack on Romney in Florida should warrant Sheldon Adelson getting a refund.

COMMENTS

  • WillWong

I suspect they do not want to use the Jacksonville exchange between Santorum and Romney regarding Romneycare for fear of adding more fuel to Santorum’s campaign.

I really like Romney’s line….”there is nothing to be angry about!” when cornered by Santorum about Romneycare.

And Erick, why is it that Romney’s PAC persist in airing the Tom Brokaw ad about Newt’s so called ethics violation when he has been exonerated? Why is there no outrage? That should be worth as least a few points for Romney that should have gone to Newt!

  • acat

Have some voice-over guy read Santorum’s part, just show Romney’s dreadful reply, then put Newt up showing the Massachusetts stats Erick mentioned.

That wouldn’t push Santorum, but it would be a gut punch in a State where the average citizen is quite concerned about keeping their access to Medicare……

So now that we know the Super PAC money can beat anybody, anytime, whats a voter to do? Our politicians and even our political process is now owned by the highest bidder – corporate America. Thanks Supreme Court.

Newt is apparently so frustrated with the wall he has hit fighting big-money “democracy” he has resorted to the old culture wars. He has essentially retreated to a position he knows Romney won’t attack him on, even if its one no one cares much about right now.

So my question – now that the teat-party has received their pat on the head by corporate owned politicians who actually wear the pants around here, what will they do? Fade quietly away, or re-group and re-load?

Is the tea-party done? Or just lying bloody on the battle field?

  • Common_Cents

Romney outspent Gingrich 5 to 1 in campaign spending, 8 to1 on PAC spending.

The DC establishment is crushing the last vestiges of the tea party.

No wonder a venture capitalist is winning, he sure knows how to raise money.

  • usedtobelib

money didn’t/doesn’t/won’t flow to Newt Gingrich…or a guy LIKE Newt.

Money and the candidate himself are NOT, as some would like to believe, unrelated to one another.

  • WillWong

In the most negative campaign in Florida’s history, Mitt Romney and his super PACs came in first with the sheer number and percentage of negative ads

Data compiled by CMAG reveals that a total of 11,586 television spots were aired between Jan. 23-29 in Florida.

A whopping 99 percent of the 3,276 ads paid for by the Romney campaign were deemed negative, while 100 percent of the 4,969 spots sponsored by the pro-Romney Restore Our Future PAC were considered negative.

In contrast, Gingrich and the pro-Gingrich PAC ? Winning Our Future ? ran fewer overall ads and more positive spots overall as a percentage of total ads.

Only 53 percent of the 1,893 spots aired by Winning our Future were considered negative, while some 95 percent of the 1,012 spots from the Gingrich campaign were deemed negative.

Some 68 percent of the negative ads were directed at Gingrich as compared to only 23 percent aimed at Romney, according to the CMAG data reported by CNN.

Less than 0.1 percent of the total ads were considered pro Romney, while 9 percent of the total ads were deemed pro Gingrich ? reflecting a higher overall percentage of positive ads by the Gingrich campaign and the pro-Gingrich PAC.

    small donations AND large donations.

Why is it Newt hasn’t much PAC money? Come on, be honest with yourself. Why hasn’t Newt, from the beginning of this thing all the way to his success in SC to now collected many $$$$$$?

There are only three reasons or combo of reasons possible, in no particular order:

he didn’t/doesn’t want any (yeah, right…)
the donors didn’t/don’t think he had a chance(and, if so, ask yourself why)
the donors don’t want him to win, don’t like him

It always come back to the candidate.

  • WillWong

Wall Street and the GOP Establishment wanted a guy who will maintain the status quo while Newt promised major shakeup….

  • mikelindell2

South Carolina on Fox News felt like a funeral. Fox News covering Florida feels like a joyous celebration. Newt’s SC win wasn’t a big deal according to Fox, while Romney’s FL win is the be all end all.

  • The_Rebel

longer to see a doctor here in MA. I can tell you from personal experience that the popularity of concierge medicine across the country is adding to this problem. My doctor of many years decided to join MDVIP last September with another staff doctor at my health care office. The fee per year was $1,800 and I decided, while I really liked my doctor, I didn’t like him that much.

Each of those two doctors had patient loads of about 2,500 each, and since enrollment in the MDVIP was limited to 600 patients per doctor, that left almost 4,000 patients who had to be reassigned to other doctors within the office. Many of them were already carrying large patient loads. Needless to say, none of the doctors are now taking on new patients.

This is just one office. The MDVIP program is a subsidiary of Procter & Gamble and does about $500 million/year. They get about 1/3 of the annual patient fee, so we are talking many hundreds of thousands of patients. These doctors get nice fat fees, in addition to their regular office visit fees, and reduced patient loads so that they have more free time, while their former patients have to scramble for a new doctor.

Fears that senior citizens on Medicare who could not afford concierge care would get kicked out of practices are becoming a reality. And there is nothing in ObamaCare or RomneyCare which will stop these doctors from joining these groups.

So let’s be careful when we throw around general comments of people waiting 44 days to see a doctor. Let’s get the facts of who is waiting and why.

  • WillWong

and Newt’s supporters after conducting the most negative campaign in Florida’s history!

Newt on the other hand should have an easier job!

4 down, 46 more to go! This Newt Supporter vowed to fight on with time, money, and sweat!

  • WillWong

    at Foxnews than parties!!!!

  • fightnright

Newt should not only run against the GOP establishment in the remainder of the primary, but also against ‘Wall Street’ and ‘venture capitalists’.

Aside from lib pundits suggesting maybe Newt should set up a tent with OWS, that line of attack should propel the Republican Party to a sure win in November (not). It reminds me of the bad jokes about mixed race or religion couples whose old-school parents prophesy that this may all work out in lovey-dovey times, but just wait until a battle royal – then the truth will come out between them.

There were plenty of questionable policy lapses from both the leading candidates for us to focus on – please don’t let this happen to our party.

  • corporateprey

One day I imagine I’ll pull mt grandkids onto my knee and tell them about the old days when we had a thing called Democracy. The only word for government they’ll have in their vocabulary is plutocracy.

We’ve screwed ourselves kids. Maybe we deserve it.

  • littlehouse18

You never know what Newt will do next.

  • corporateprey

Sorry to say WIll, but your not even playing the game anymore. It is over. Newt can’t get a fair shake because he is facing an insurmountable wall of Wall Street cash.

Newts money will dry up in the face of this onslaught. Stick a fork in it my friend, the era of big government joining forces with corporate billions means we no longer have a voice.

Might as well go fishin’ and try to forget about it. We are all now owned …

  • creinstein

Newt should play this ad instead

    Barack Obama
    List of issues*
    Oops we meant Mitt Romney

*Issues being things thag they both can be completely compared to, e.g. socialized healthcare, abortion, taxes, appointing liberal judges, etc.

That ad would crush Romney like a bug. No Republican wants to vote for Obama and every Republican that is shown how they compare (Obama and Mitt) will never vote for Mitt.

  • fightnright

despite my leaning Mitt (for electability), I *do* like Newt’s promise to work against an establishment taking the votes of the conservative base for granted and treating us like patsies who can be seduced when convenient and abandoned when the going gets tough.

The attacks on capitalism, not so much.

  • greyeagle

He stood at the debates and said he would repeal Obamacare. His campaign says parts will be eliminated, but it won’t be repealed. That should be a slogan.

  • Kyle-MI

you pathetic excuse for a troll.

  • http://www.planettron.com NickDeringer

Andrew Clavin said it best: Gingrich is man who is so intelligent that only he knows what he stands for.

Unfortunately Newt can’t hide the fact that he’s Newt Gingrich.

  • corporateprey

All that Wall Street cash is going to Mitt because Mitt is the better candidate? Better for who? Yea, thats right, the big banks, the multinationals, the financial elite.

While we’re crowning Mitt and all he stands for, lets make sure we eliminate taxes on capital gains so those friends of Mitt can create jobs for us little people.

  • corporateprey

What do you have to say Kyle? Maybe a little cheer for Mitt and the corporate elite that have ensured his victory?

Talk about pathetic. I say its time those of us who remember democracy, liberty, individuality grow a pair and tell Wall Street its time to take the gloves off.

You can go back to our nap.

  • corporateprey

At least not as it has been practiced in this country during my life time. Capitalism is good when those at the top have a respect for the people. Its when big gov’t joins forces with the most ruthless forms of capitalism that we have the utter disregard for “we, the people”.

During the 50s and 60s people still got rich, but the rest of us didn’t have to get poor for them to accomplish that.

We are nothing more than prey now.

  • Kyle-MI

No one buys votes. I believe people are free-thinking individuals fully capable of making informed choices. This is especially true of GOP voters. The people in your delusion are mindless robots easily swayed by TV ads. Well, Sparky, if that is the case then no election laws limiting free speech are ever going to save our democracy. And fortunately, it is definitely not the case, again, especially among Republicans. And if you believe otherwise, you are not a conservative. Conservatives believe in free speech and the marketplace of ideas. Conservatives believe in individual responsibility, not group think like “corporate elite”. Conservatives believe that individuals are capable of making rational choices, not being led around by rich puppet masters. Go peddle your garbage someplace else.

  • horse

I moved the family from Atlanta to Boston area 6 months ago. Lower taxes (income, property and sales), lower unemployment, higher wages, family hasn’t had to wait for any medical appointments (including specialists) and healthcare cost with employer went down 2% starting in January vs. last year. The only real problem with MA is the highly corrupt democratic political machine and unions.

  • corporateprey

I guess thats why those morons on Wall Street just spent millions defeating Newt with a backhand swipe. If your actually trying to assert all those negative ads don’t sway voters you should do just a tiny bit of research. Its not a matter of what I believe, its a matter of overwhelming evidence. If your so critically uninformed maybe its you that should peddle your crap elsewhere.

Or maybe you kinda like the feel of that Plutocracy slowly closing around your throat.

  • dajeeps

For FL and it shows some results that are a little incoherent:

2 out of 3 said they either strongly or somewhat support the Tea Party movement.

2 out of 3 said their choice was influenced by debates and 39% said their choice was influenced by advertising.

One of the Tea Party’s biggest gripes is about ObamaCare, and since Romney is either directly or indirectly connected with it, someone isn’t getting the message. That’s not to say they are mindless, but perhaps they haven’t been listening.

Romney, I think, covered himself by coming straight out of the shoot in the debates and rolling Gingrich with non substantive attacks. At that point it really didn’t matter what else was said. It’s sad, but true.

  • tyman

I know you have to have registered as a Republican several weeks ago, but I’m still concerned about Democrats voting in the Republican primary.

Can some of the inconsistencies be explained by this?

I really believe that a lot of voters are stupid (just like the guy that said he only figured out who he was voting for on the way to the polling place this AM), and that many (yes, Republicans even) just haven’t been paying attention.

Just don’t like the thought of Operation: Chaos in reverse!

  • Kyle-MI

And like them, a brownshirt fascist. Stop drinking their kool-aide and use that single brain cell you have left in your head.

  • Kyle-MI

    1. States rights.
    2. He has promised repeal.

And Gingrich has a less than spectacular record on Obamacare, himself, or maybe those big bad evil corporations have used their mind control devices on the good people of FL.

  • stumpy

doctors and patients opting for concierge medicine? Why so much more in Massachusetts? Romneycare of course. Government intervention ruins medicine like everything else. Wealthy people will get private care and the rest of us will be stuck with crappy care.

And we want to put the originator, who still stands by socialized medicine, as our nominee? What are people thinking?

  • snowshooze

I am so happy, I could just puke.

  • snowshooze

Romneycare is artificially supported… on the backs of all the other States.
We need to throw Masachussetts out of the Union. As Deadbeats.

  • fightnright

talking points regarding the evil rich, the victimized poor, and how they’ve been scammed by the crooks in government for generations before the 50s and 60s.

Create a victim class (check), make them dissatisfied with their situation, cultural or financial (check), and divide them against their victimizers for the purpose of building socialism. Check.

Your rant is nothing new. Only the names change over the decades in this blame game. The only thing that’s been revised is the definition of the ‘poor’, which in the U.S. now includes people who are well-fed, own air-conditioned homes, multiple cars, the latest technology, and if by your claim that ‘the rest of us’ got poor includes you, even computers with full internet access on which you type out your whiny screeds.

  • antisesquipedalion

has nothing to do with Pelosi.. it was telling an Italian man to get out of the race.. now THAT was dumb !!!

  • corporateprey

Wow Kyle, maybe if you actually had valid arguments rather than vile accusations you wouldn’t be so lonely and angry – and crazy.

In case you haven’t noticed, the Republican party is ripping itself in two. Thanks to Wall Street, Citizens United an the establishment media like Fox News, Limbaugh, Colter, etc.

We been had. The only question is how do we respond? I take it your plan is to stand on the side line and scream angry names at people you disagree with.

    Good for you.

  • corporateprey

Unless your one of those in the 15% tax rate category, your getting your arse handed to you – and apparently you’re willing to just smile and take it.

If ever you needed ample evidence that we have all become serfs or even slaves to the monied elite, this election is providing it.

Even Fox, Limbaugh, have become corporate shills. They have been part of the game a ll along.

For those of us who don’t have our head in the sand, it is becoming increasingly obvious we are on our own.

The plutocracy isn’t here to help us, just use us up and throw us away. We’re worse than slaves.

  • Bill S

“corporateprey” is an OWS support group on Facebook. So…unless you can tell me a very convincing story about your intents here, I’d say your time here is short.

  • Rudy

These next few states will be hard. My hope is Santorum withers on the vine and drops out in time for some States Newt can win. We fight on.

  • dajeeps

going on, but I don’t think enough to make that big of a difference in the election results without it being readily apparent to nearly everyone. I’m not a professional analyst so I cant really say what it all means. What I posted above just stuck out as something that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I don’t think voters are stupid. Many of them just don’t pay that much attention. They are busy with other things, just living their lives. I was that way until 9/11, which is when I started to wake up and realize that government is a failing enterprise that has a huge impact on our quality of life. Even then I had to study history in my spare time, and didn’t really connect the dots until Obama came along and radicalized me. It just seemed like things to argue about on an intellectual level, the way government should be, but not such an emergency to fix until then.

  • fightnright

I show how each generation tends toward a higher living standard, you say we’re ‘slaves’ pacified with bread and circuses (check)….

    classic!

  • Rudy

All these GOP campaigns I have helped with are still running campaigns like they were still in the 80′s. It’s so backwards. They put all their money in the wrong places. They don’t listen to anyone. They don’t take advantage of Social Networking. It’s just horrible. If someone wants to make a whole lot of money go ahead and start a company to compete with these GOP Campaign PR companies. They are horrible.

  • dajeeps

What was nuanced in my post was that Romney rolled Gingrich in the debated, and 2 out of 3 said their choice of candidate was influenced by debates, while only 39% said their choice was influenced by advertising.

So, the ads matter a little, but not near as much as the debates.

  • dajeeps

How far is he willing to take that? In his agenda proposal, he suggests rolling back all of the Obama era rule-making in the regulatory agencies. Does that mean that he thinks government was just fine before then? But if we want to get technical about the concept, the 10th amendment implies much more than that.

  • Bill S

The corporate shills here at Redstate have found you to be redundant. Your tiresome flacking for the socialists is no longer needed here. Buh bye.

  • sandollar

Disappointing but expected night. 46 To Go!

I keep seeing the “venture capital” confusion posted here & there, again & again.

Here is a video from Butler On Business, interviewing a man who was with the Texas Workforce Commission, head of the Texas Republican Party, a Viet Nam vet and worked in venture capital for 6 years after he left the Reagan Administration (he may have said in the video. He shouldn’t be all that hard to find) He is the author of the book Bringing America Home.

He gives a very clear and easy to understand explanation concerning the difference between venture capital and leveraged buyout companies like Bain, Michael Milliken, and Steven Schwartzman.

    i’m sticking with Newt!

  • WillWong

is just verbal and something he acknowledged is not workable.

Romney’s gaffe is that he enacted the prototype of Obamacare for which he is still very proud of!

  • 6t9boss

So Romney Butchers up Newt!…Will he do the same to Obama? ….Doubtful…would Newt? most certainly Yes!…So who will be our next President…Obama…Why?…..Because Romney will not fight for this country like Newt would but Romney and the Liberal GOP would gladly stick a knife in the back of Conservatism!

One other little observation..the media went out of its way to say Romney got more votes than Newt and Santorum “Combined!”. Well…if you add Paul’s votes into the total you come away with 52% that voted AGAINST Romney’s 46%…he may have won the battle but he is STILL losing the war.

And if any of you guys think that Conservatives are going to “roll- over” on the”anybody but Obama!” or “We have got to save this Country” junk you all are going to be in for a big surprise.

The Establishment – Liberal GOP and Carl Rove RINO’s don’t want Conservatives… they well may get their wish in November. I am telling you this is the last straw for many Conservatives like myself……that will not vote for the Letter “R” and leave our values on the floor ( like we have in the past) for a shadow of Obama!

Nothing will Truely change IF Romney gets elected. If you are willing to vote for Mediocrity over Change then “Establishment Selection” is the way to go.

  • mirac777

Where the bulk of Romenys cash flowed from. Back in Dec. Romney had garnered more support from millionaires and billionaires than all the other’s combines, including BHO.So, according to some folk’s logic, the candidate with the richest donors and most crony-capitalists lined up to suck from the taxdollarr trough is the one who “we the people” should support? When will folks wake up to reality? The ONLY issue that will matter four years from now is our debt, as in 20 trillion or so. The sheep are going to be fleeced until the austerity mesures hit, inflation goes through the roof, and it takes a wheelbarrow full of U.S. dollars to buy a loaf of bread, IF the gov’t allows you to.

  • mirac777

was the stupidest thing I have ever seen at a critical time when many were still undecided. It was almost as if Newt PAC had been infiltrated by a Romney operative. Go figure.

  • renl57

…sounds a lot more like Gingrich, who was hired by Freddie Mac for his famous name to peddle influence,

than it does like Mitt Romney, who made his fortune in the free market.

  • davesinsanantonio

you are a patsy and you have been seduced and you will be abandoned when the going gets tough. Or, once the election is over, because they got your vote and that is all they consider you good for. Way to prove them right!

  • davesinsanantonio

Some plan for defeating either the Republican establishment of Obummer. Do you plan to donate the fish you catch? Or, maybe to ask them for donations? Maybe those fish will work a phone bank.

Running away is not a viable strategy. Neither is sticking your head in the sand. Neither is blaming everything on the rich. So, instead of whining about things you cannot change, put away the fishing gear and get to work. We still may not win the White House, but we can take back the Senate and increase our majority in the House, and we can put more conservatives in the state capitals and in our various city halls and country buildings. And in each of those places we are still in the majority, not the Wall Street types.

  • Juggernaut

as are stories everywhere. His new plan is top down fed and state run healthcare similar to Romneycare and it will be almost as bad as Obamacare with politicians and bureaucrats ruining the low cost structure most have enjoyed before Romney and Obama. Its like every other program gov gets involved with, the price goes up as companies set rates to draw in the gov cash.

Won’t be long till the Chinese are selling health insurance.

  • Juggernaut

people complaining of high insurance rates for healthcare, auto and property insurance in Massachusetts. The state is run like a communist country. No joke, you can’t buy auto insurance out of state, if you do, you can’t get your tag renewed. Register the car out of state and Romney has a Commuter Fee aka tax for that plus if the cops find out you live in state they confiscate the car.

  • davesinsanantonio

guaranteeing that our worst president ever gets another four years to continue the destruction of this country, but will also guarantee that the Dims will maintain control of the Senate and maybe get back the House. If that happens, then this time they will not stop the race to the cliff, in fact they will be stepping on the gas!
And don’t forget the state and local races that you will abandon to the Lefties to make sure there is no counterweight to the socialist juggernaut. Good thinking, we really need to help the nuts take over quicker!!! If you stay home, then you are responsible for the destruction of America as much, or maybe even more than, Obummer and his marxist pals.

  • duanej

Would be to include both the language of Santorum (they don’t have to use Santorum’s clip from the debate, just a voice over) and then Mittens himself saying “there is nothing to be angry about” while showing the throngs of TEA party protests when we invaded the capitol on 9/12.

  • duanej

The #1 health problem facing poor people today is….OBESITY. When the #1 health problem facing poor people is being over weight, one has to wonder WHERE DO THEY GET THE MONEY TO EAT if they are so poor? Perhaps going on a diet could not only help them from a health standpoint, but also from a financial standpoint as well.

  • 6t9boss

guarentee no Conservative Judges on the SC, No repeal of Obama Care, tinkering with spending but no real change, No real madate on Energy…just tell how romeny and the Modrate/Liberals in the GOP are any different.
How does voting for Democrate “Lite” do anything but make a hyporcrite out of myself! The results are still the same/ From 94- 06′ we were promised and promised instead we more of the same junk, just trimmed on the sides.

There comes a time when you have to stop backing a team that is not winning or moving the ball forward and look for another team that will get the job done….that day is fast approaching.

  • The_Rebel

Concierge medicine began in the late 1990′s, long before Romney was even thought of as a future Governor. And it is has been taking off everywhere over the past few years, not just in MA.

I’m certainly not wealthy and $1,800/year won’t make or break my budget, but I just do not think it’s worth the price, and I don’t like the consequences for those patients who choose not to sign up.

  • texastaxpayer

That would really make Pelosi happy.

  • Kyle-MI

I knew this guy smelled funny and not in the “ha ha” sort of way.

I will admit he was a very good actor, kept up the facade right until the end.

  • groverc

Gingrich is not a viable alternative to Romney at this point. Santorum is. Newt has monstrous baggage, including yesterday?s column from Joe Scarborough recounting how Gingrich tried to jettison the small government, low-tax ideals of the Contract With America. You?ve got anti-conservative quotes galore by him to be dug up, plus flaky moon-settlement and blowhard ?I am a visionary!? pronouncements that come tumbling out of him like Keystone Cops from a clown car.
With Gingrich out of the race, Santorum would be a strong viable alternative to Romney. He?d be listened to more, and I think even siphon votes from the Romney column that nutty Newt can?t.
No sense belaboring Santorum?s imperfections. He?s standing tall, clean and sensible as a conservative right now. Lose him, and it?s all Romney.

  • stardustsara

romney care us state mandated not government mandated. that is a big difference. i have to wait 44 days to see a doctor here in florida and am not even in a HMO. costs will go up and down. if costs go up to have to examine the plan and tweak it here and there. no one, including me, knows the inner workings of massachussets, so i would think that it was the best plan they could come up with for that state where i believe only 10% are uninsured.

  • noveldog9

Why not advise him to sit down and shut up/ Why not advise him to stop promising the world that he can’t deliver? Why not go even farther and tell him not to promise the Moon?

Why not tell him to stop lying and expecting people to believe his lies? He got caught in his lies on stage in the debates and lost the last two debates. He has bawled and squalled. He has called Mitt a Moderate, now has resorted to calling him a progressive liberal. What next…..a Conservative?

Why not just ask Newt to cool it and maybe Romney will ask him to be his VP? That would never work for someone with an ego the size of an ocean would it ? Well we will find someone Conservative, or maybe Moderate. Either will be better than the Liberal stances of Newt Gingrich.

  • sharrondeer

That it was the conservatives justices, not the liberal ones, who turned on the tap of unlimited money in politics. It does give one pause, doesn’t it?

  • cwfoster

Let’s see, the Corporations are donating money to Romney, yes, but before the Supreme Court Ruling they were making donations as individuals and they supported Obama.

The Unions were never under any restrictions, They ALSO supported Obama.

George Soros has said that there would be little difference between an Obama Presidency, and a Romney Presdiency, but there would be. Obama will back bailouts, and Crony Capitalism, and so would Romney, but Romney wouldn’t be a lame duck. Further Romneys cronies might be closer to the oil business and things like Keystone XL wont get sacrificed on the altar of any Romney constituancy. Romney wont be beholden to the Sierra Club, or wacko environmentalists, we see that Obama is. Romney would try to deregulate business and free up capital for investment, without killing Obamacare this may have a limited effect but better than four year of a lame duck communist who has NO concern about needing to run again!

  • sharrondeer

The issue, by and large, isn’t about going them going on a diet. It’s about changing their diet. Healthy food costs a lot more than stuff that makes you fat. Food that is mostly sugar, fat, and carbohydrates is cheap. McDonald’s is cheap.

  • sharrondeer

As dajeeps said, most people are too busy working (or looking for work), taking care of their families, etc., to have time to pay a lot of attention.

At the end of the day, they relax in front of the TV and see all of the attack ads. And maybe they watch the debates. And that’s about all the information they’re getting.

Also tells the Republican establishment that we can be bought. That in the end we will abandon our principles and fall in line.

I’m not going to vote for Romney. I’m not going to vote for Obama, obviously. I will vote third party or write in a name.

Then there’s something wrong with the medical system in Florida. Don’t know what it is, but that’s terrible.

It’s actually about 5% uninsured in Massachusetts. And only about 11% want it repealed. I’m not saying this to support ObamaCare, mind you, just being factual.

stabbing Conservatives in the back then has the gall to ask for my vote!

Besides..”The down ticket”….”Has already CONCEDED the whitehouse” in favor of saving the “House and hopes of gainging seats in the Senate”.
So I am supposed to vote for quiters!……right?

  • acat

And, as he ain’t, I’ll suggest that you’re arguing in poor faith.

I am just responding to the statements made by GOP leaders. Even they don’t think Romney can win but they believe Romney can help the down ticket as opposed to Newt. Why else would all those politicans show up in Fla. and bash Newt like they did if they were not behind taking out Conservatives?

Is the car I drive and I am not really sure what else you can make of it?

    Dear Speaker Gingrich:

I would like to get your explanation of the content of several YouTube Video’s that show you describing yourself as a Progressive Republican and a “Wilsonian Progressive.” I am confused because you profess now to be a Reagan Conservative. Curious. Everyone who has studied the Woodrow Wilson era knows that a “Wilsonian Progressive” is NOT a Conservative.

You also baffled me when you stated on these Video’s that our sacred Constitution is “obsolete.” What did you mean by that? Comrade Obozo has said the same thing! This idea is NOT embraced by most Reagan Conservatives. They revere our Constitution and think it is the most perfect Document every conceived by man. Explain to me why you feel it is “obsolete,” please.

I also need to know how you can declare so firmly that you are the only REAL Conservative, a Ronald Reagan Conservative, in the race for President. Could it be simple hyperbole or something more sinister, like a LIE? I am really baffled by your fluctuation in ideologies over the years. Quite a drastic change. And yet you have criticized Governor Romney for his “flip-flops.”

Of course these are all rhetorical questions because I know you will never give me a satisfactory answer. Maybe you have seen the light? Or maybe you are just an Opportunist who grabbed hold of “lightning in a bottle” and rode it out as far as it would take you.

Oh well, as long as you don’t worm your way into our nation’s highest office under false pretense, I don’t have a problem with it. I really don’t think that is going to happen, do you?

    Sincerely,
    A REAL Reagan Conservative

Eric, your right. For a candidates short of funds, the bankroll can’t take a hit in a a message rhat does not address voters priorities. Candidates bickering take their eye off the ball.

Voters arre not asleep. Keep it short and sweet. It’s all about who, how, and why we can secure the white house-without Obama!

it is moot. I don’t really care to force them to eat healthy foods. If they want healthy foods, they can make that a priority. The POINT though is THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING HUNGRY.

From a diet standpoint, it is far and away more about caloric intake than types of food. Math is math, and it is a simple mathematical fact that the number of calories eaten less the number of calories burned is your net caloric value. That value can be positve, negative, or 0 depending on how much you eat in terms of calories and how much you burn off in a given day.

A person could subsist on vending machine food only (moon pies and twinkies) so long as they eat the requisite number of calories to keep up with their burn rate. Obesity comes, not from sugars or sweet foods, but from eating more calories than you burn. Reducing the amount of caloric intake so that you consume and burn an even amount of food will insure you don’t gain or lose weight. Burning more than you eat (or eating less than you burn) will guarantee you lose weight.

The point remains that we can’t point to starvation and privation as a legitimate concern here in the US when our #1 health problem for poor people is obesity.

McDonalds is cheap, but it won’t make you fat, unless you eat more calories from their food than you burn. PERIOD.
