Good Friday 2012

Crucifixion

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.  And sitting down they watched him there;  And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

. . . .

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?  Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.  And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.  Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

The Gospel of Matthew 27:35-37, 45-53

In this time of journalistic cowardice and political correctness, it is thrilling to find a journal that stands up for the truths and convictions that have made our society great.
    Thank you and God bless………

….amidst this crumbling world. In the end, it’s all that matters.

…is that the story doesn’t end with an empty cross but an empty tomb!

He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, was crucified for us.
How can it be that He died for me. He that knew no sin, took on a fleshly body when He didn’t have to.
    But He did it anyway.
Oh, what a Savior. My God, My Jesus, I didn’t deserve it, but He Loved me anyway.
    God is so good.

Jesus bore the consequence of human wrongs slight and large, outrageous and egregious, divisive and murderous, by our mouths and from our guts. Jesus bore eons of wrongs, buried these sins in a tomb and freed us from them forever.
By His wounds we are forgiven and freed to live in hope, loving God and one another.
    So be it. Amen

I have found exceeding joy; Jesus answered when I called
This name that has saved me; pure love that embraced me

Mercy, grace, eternal life; Brought from darkness to His light
While lost in my sin He raised me and made me live!

My soul magnifies the Lord; My heart joys in God my Savior
For He lifts the lowly and He’s done great things for me!
I will sing praising evermore; He is mighty and holy is His name

I will lift my head up high; Praising Jesus through each trial
Though I have not seen Him, I love Him completely!

My soul magnifies the Lord; My heart joys in God my Savior
For He lifts the lowly and He’s done great things for me
I will sing praising evermore; He is mighty and holy is His name

This is my song to the Lord, today and every day.

    Let us Never Forget:

In God we trust; we Are One Nation Under God (since even prior to our Founding), or as President Reagan famously said, “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then will be a Nation gone under”.

Jesus Christ gave everything for us; are we ready to give our all for Him? Defending His Eternal Principles for our future generations?

    Happy Easter, everyone!

Jesus of Nazeria Rex of Juda. This is what was posted on the cross. In fact it was written in three languages, Latin, Jewish, and Aramic Jesus’ native language. What took place after the sign was posted above Jesus is what did get my attention. The Sanhedren with Ciafas the chief preist pleaded with Pontio Pilato to have that sign removed from the cross. Pilato responded by saying “I have written what I have written” and the sign remained. That to me was payback by Pilato. Pontio is chair in Latin and Pilato was the Roman Chair under Ceaser in Juda or Governor. Pilato was deeply concered that he would have an insurection on his hands if he had released Jesus and he tried but to no avail, he washed his hands of it. It was pure jelousy of the Sanhedren and Priest as they felt that their authority was being challenged and they stirred up the people to a frenzy and then they Crusified our Lord. I do not blame Pontio Pilato nor the Jewish people as a whole, I do hold Ciafas and the Sanhedren to blame but did not the old testament predict these events?

of his sacrifice, that he is the son of God, that our sins can be forgiven, that physical death is not the end, and that good will ultimately triumph over evil.

Further, that Christ is a living sovereign. When Christ appeared to John on the island of Patmos some 60 years after his death. he said: ?I am the first and the last, and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore.? (Revelation 1:17-18)

While it is good that the world turns its focus toward Christ, we should follow the example of the N.T. church and remember his life, death and resurrection every week. (Communion)

May God have mercy on us all and continue to bless us with his grace and love.

    Thank you, Erick.
