On Fairness & Moral Cases

Another day, another socialist takes to the New York Times to denounce capitalism. With his criticism — he is a professional critic, which is a job no socialist society would really see value in except as an agenda of propaganda, but he thrives in the capitalist society he condemns — he premises it on some sort of morality. He mocks Christians for embracing capitalism with no understanding of Christianity or even a real understanding of capitalism.

But his critique is filled with the usual, and totally unoriginal leftist pablum about the evils of profit motive, etc. while ignoring arms length transactions, how the free market, unlike any other economic system, has elevated so many out of poverty, etc.

Along the way, we keep hearing something from these leftists, whether it be Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, or the Hollywood crowd is that the rich need to “give back” and “pay their fair share.”

They’re just as happy to quote a secular philosopher as they are the Bible. Elizabeth Warren famously said that the factory owner wants us to ignore the people who built the roads or ran the phone lines, etc. She, however, wants to ignore the factory owner’s idea, success, and hiring record — providing jobs to people to build his product.

But all of that misses the larger point.

Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, etc. have turned the federal tax code into a moral code and designated themselves the agents of moral fairness. They will be the arbiters of what is and is not fair. The free market will not. The collective will of the American people, exercising choice in a free market, will not. They will.

They will quote the Bible as justification for gay rights, higher taxes, government assistance to the poor, but they won’t actually follow the Bible. That moral code only has the Creator, his Son, Moses, Elijah, and many others willing to die for their beliefs.

Instead, Barack Obama would have us reject that moral code — while quoting from it to justify his actions — and instead hand us over to the tax code as a moral code. It’s agents? The President and Congress.

That’s right friends, Barack Obama has decided that he, a former coke head who once supported infanticide and got his political start in the home of a domestic terrorist, should be the arbiter of morality. But he is not stopping there. He wants Congress to be the agent of morality in writing the tax code.

So instead of God and the Son of God, our new agents of morality will be a group of present or former drunks, adulterers, tax cheats, pedophiles, extortionists, liars, and the like. They will decide what is and is not fair. And if you don’t like it, you must be a sinner in need of punishment by the Archangel IRS.

The tax code should not be about either political party’s morality. It should be about funding the federal government. But if the left wants to make it about morality, they should have a rational answer for why we allow Congress to be the agent of morality in the tax code? Because Congress is democratically elected? Well then I guess they are perfectly fine with 32 states banning gay marriage. After all, Democracy!

It truly says something about the hubris of Barack Obama that he could tell us we are our brother’s keeper when his brother lives in a shack in Africa. Practice what you preach, Barry O!.

The Great Society laid the groundwork for installing the culture of indolence and sloth in a wide swath of American society that had previously held to the ideals of self reliance and hard work ie the out of wedlock birthrate among one ethnic group going from 20 per cent when LBJ assumed the Presidency to today’s 72 per cent and “What? Me get good grades? That would be too white!”
Now when times have gotten worse for all and ‘Laissez les bontemps roulez!’ is as distant a memory as working yourself out of your financial predicament, the cry of “You’re mean because you’re not giving us poor downtrodden more stuff!” constantly arises.
“Vote for me and I shall steal from them to give to thee!”

Strap them down and test them, watch out, they bite.
There are various kinds of severe mental illness. I wonder what kind is evidenced by a man who writes this while Europe is imploding? He likes Mandeville’s take on regulation? I doubt Mr M would approve of the mess we observe today, he wasn’t suicidal.

You know, the guy who would have shut down the IRS. Then we wouldn’t have had all this archangel business.

You’re absolutely right, its getting pretty thick in Washington. We will fix things on November 6th.

What a crock! There isn’t an entity on the planet that has left the public with more debt than the Democrat Party!

Has no clue whatsoever about how any of that money that she wants to spend is made.

Those roads to the factory that she talks about were built with tax money taken from either those who were building that factory, or other people who turned a profit or earned some money before them….

All government money is hard working people’s money, which they spend on what they consider an appropriate use of our money….

Or about 1 for ever 577,000 citizens.

Deciding everything. What you eat, what you can drive, what is morally right, what is fair. How much you get to keep, what the minimum (and maximum) you can (or should) earn.

This is not the America the founders envisioned, nor the America Woodrow Wilson inherited.

Too few people, far removed from the self governing states getting far too involved in the responsibilities of the citizens to govern themselves. Lets repeal the 16th amendment and restore the liberty that the founders intended.

The NYT piece is based on a “study” which is actually an estimate by a magazine writer. Here’s the quote from the original:

“One out of 10 Wall Street employees is a clinical psychopath, estimates Sherree DeCovny in CFA Magazine [pdf for purchase], compared with one out of 100 people in the general population.”

So some magazine hack writes about her “estimate” and a socialist hack uses her article as scientific basis for a false claim in the NYT.

I just might buy a bird so I can subscribe to the NYT and use it in the birdcage.

It’s not the government that builds a road or a bridge or a battleship… it’s business.

We have a definite disconnect when the Government thinks they are God. Of course this has been the case since we before we got thrown out of the Garden. Many men since the first one have tried to make themselves God, Egypt comes to mind when pharoah was a demi-god, then of course the Roman emperors were considered gods and even had people sacrifice to them.
Then of course we also have the modern day gods, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, i could go back to Joe Stalin but why bother. Let us face it, we are all on a ride straight to destruction under this group of gods and demi-gods. We can only hope that the “people” will wake up in time to stop this train. If this man wins another 4 years, there won’t be another president after him, he will pull a Chavez and become president for life. Want to stop him? Do it now, vote him out of office, and watch out for him to delare martial law and declare the election null and void!
