For Conservatives, August Begins and Ends in Florida

At the end of August, Republicans will gather in Tampa, FL to nominate Mitt Romney for President. But at the beginning of August, Conservatives will gather in Jacksonville, FL for the RedState Gathering.

We’re going to have RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, Florida Governor Rick Scott, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Senator Ron Johnson, former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel, along with a number of candidates including Joe the Plumber, Ted Cruz, and more.

There’ll also be a few big names attending who we will announce in the coming week. We’re also going to throw in, free of charge, activist training from American Majority. It is, bar none, the best training you can get as we try to take back the Senate and White House.

You are not going to want to miss it. I’ll be there as well.

Remember, unlike any other conference, the RedState Gathering happens because the politicians and candidates want to meet you. There is no fancy stage. There is no big divide between you and the candidates. Every person who speaks is required to take 15 minutes of their time to answer your questions. The candidates and politicians pay their own way and answer your questions because they value the authentic grassroots conservatives who make up the RedState readership. It helps us keep your costs down and your access up.

    The gathering should discuss a possible third party. My take on today’s Wall Street Journal feature article is, the GOP will aim to remove the mandate, but leave the rest of the Obamatax monstrosity in place. If this is really the game plan, we need to ditch tyranny-lite now, and gear up for a third-party, which in time will supplant the GOP and at least give us a sincere, fighting chance at liberty. We resent being used.

    Redstate is explicitly a site to promote conservatism and GOP candidates. The mission is “conservative in the primary, GOP in the general”.

    If you want a 3rd party, go somewhere else.

    Have been a faithful reader of Red State for a bit over a year now and as a matter of fact come here each day before hitting DrudgeReport. So many incredibly intelligent and articulate writers and thinkers!!!!

    We are one of those older couples living a bit below the poverty level and sinking fast YET hopeful for better days ahead despite the nonsense spewed by the left lately. Living in New York State makes any conservative feel like there is NO hope. Now we have a second Cuomo who has removed himself from the political fray and to be frank, here in Upstate (the real Upstate area) New York we never hear his name! Oh yeah, he’s been busy getting a portrait of his father painted for posterity.

    There really isn’t anything I, as an individual can do that will effect the outcome of the election in November – except. as a prayer warrior I can continue to ask the Lord to keep His hand on America. To not let us diminish, to not let our country become yet another godless society.

    Eric, thank you for this wonderful Internet site, it gives me insight every single day into the political arena and most importantly, the truth of what exactly is happening in matters I care very much about. Meeting you and other stalwart conservatives in Florida is beyond our finances so what I am going to do is start praying today until your meeting for those who are suppose to attend to be able to attend. For those who should NOT attend, be kept away, and for those who wish to disrupt from the outside to be so small in number they end up leaving! More Blessings are coming your way Eric. Have an incredible “pow wow” on August 2nd.

    Is Governor Perry coming to the Red State meeting? He has been one awesome Governor. I really miss him since I now live in Florida.
