Freedom’s Slate

On this Independence Day, it is time to focus on improving the crop of Republican congressmen by examining some of the remaining Republican primaries.

Want the GOP to stand up to Barack Obama?

Tired of the GOP cutting deals?

Want to make sure the GOP doesn’t back out of full and complete repeal of Obamacare if they sweep in November?

Then you absolutely must support these candidates still in Republican primaries.

If you care about freedom, here is Freedom’s Slate.

These are the candidates guaranteed to restore the GOP’s testicular fortitude.

I would also note that Mark Neumann and Eric Hovde are far superior to Tommy Thompson. While I personally prefer Neumann, given his track record when in the United States House, his campaign seems to be having trouble rebuilding bridges burned in the GOP gubernatorial primary. If Neumann can’t repair those bridges and get momentum, Hovde is far superior to Tommy Thompson and I’d have no problem supporting him.

We may add to this list, but it’ll get you started.

It doesn’t matter whether you live in these candidates’ districts or not. The fate of all Americans rides on our ability to ‘take out the trash’ and replace it with people who still believe in the principles of limited government, and individual rights.

We can all help. Contact these campaigns. Find out what you can do to help. Better yet, DONATE to these campaigns. Sadly…money is the best campaign tool these days…and challengers are usually fighting an uphill battle against well-funded incumbants.

Accountability will come when these entrenched incumbants see that we are going to retire them if they continue trampling on our freedoms, and spending us into oblivion.

    Erick,
I asked you and Moe (RS gathering 2009) what we are to do against the lying biased media. I didn’t get much of a response. It is now obvious to me as Conservatives/Libertarians need a plan. We have Big Journalism and Newsbusters/MRC, but those are mostly “defense”. We need an offense against the well-known faces of ABC, CBS, and NBC.
I’m not in the billboard business but have 20 years experience in media. I can’t do this for family reasons, but I can put you in touch with a billboard company and for 2500/month get a board along I-75 that has a 110,000 car count…..daily.
Let’s get Stepphies, Lauers and William’s faces and names on those boards and start the media war against the media.

The Idea that only the local races for Senator and Representative is important to you has to be changed. every Congressman makes decision on a National Basis that affects our daily lives. The Senator from Arizona makes decisions that can change my life in Pennsylvania. It doesn’t matteer what you think a congressmanis doing for you locally it is what he does nationally that is important. Let your local state represenatives take care of getting the bridge repaired or that road paved but be very aware that even if John doe Senator got that new by-pass built around town it is what he is doing to you that matters and what he is doing to the country. I recently had a friend in Ohio’s 8th district, john boehner’s district. he got mad at me for constantly being on Boehner’s case about the way he is handling Spraker duties. seems Boehner was getting a lot of benefits for the District. It was only after I pointed out to my friend what a really bad Job he was doing for the Country that he realized that Boehnere was an embarrassment to the Party and that made his ditrict an embassrasment because they keep sending him back to congress. He now works to get Boehner out. Even though he didn’t make this year in two years he wil be campaigning against Boehner. Again Every member of Congress is a national problem and should be supported or fought against no matter where you live. I personally don’t give to the RNC anymore since they have proven that they support RINO’s for the most part. I give and support the Candidates campaign directly. More money goes to their campaign this way and not skimmed off to support the RNC.

We are having a bit of a time choosing in the R primary for senator to replace McCaskill. Steelman, Akin and Brunner all have decent points, but I’m leaning towards Akin. We HAVE to get rid of our present nutcase, and would like to help put in the best candidate available.

  • ihateliberals

The only strtegy that works is to alwyas be trught with the facts and soonere or later the media wil have to publish it whether or not they like. FOX News forces MSNBC, ABC, CBS,NBC, CNN to sooner or later publish stories they would rather bury. FOX has been a good ally for Conservatives and need to be supported. One thing I learned many years ago is “Never Wrestle with a Pig….All that happens is you get dirty and the Pig likes it”. the media is the Pig. Youhave to beat them at their own game some how. Billboards won’t do the job. 9 out of 10 people riding along don’t even read most billboards anymore. They are mostly just an annoyance.

  • sharp

All these candidates do a POOR job of distinguishing themselves from the others – their websites are vanilla. I sent e-mails asking specific questions – no response from anyone. It makes me want to give ‘em the Hawaiian punch.

Steve King (Iowa) is the real deal, and he has endorsed Akin. I can live with that.

  • spoasteph97

    better than McCaskill.

While Steve King has endorsed Akin, a number of conservative rock stars and organizations have endorsed the two others:

Todd Akin has won the endorsements of Rep. Jim Jordan, Steve King, Madison Project.

Sarah Steelman has won the endorsements of Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Tea Party Express, SBA-List.

John Brunner has won the endorsements of Senators Ron Johnson, Tom Coburn, and Freedomworks.

AND Senator McCaskill most likely has the support of her favorite president: President Obama.

Who are you going to pick? I would support any of the other three over McCaskill!

  • gwalt

Remember the George Bush “Miss Me Yet” billboard? It went viral. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a public outing of Liberals like the alphabet anchors. Stepphie is a Dem operative yet there are viewers who consider him a fair down the middle journalist. We come here because we are political junkies. Joe and Jane McMuffin just go to work — eating their McMuffin in their cars—- don’t pay attention to politics but more than likely watch GMA and heard how awful everything Republican is and how great that crap sandwich of Liberalism is. Liberalism is being hoisted hourly as “mainstream” on these soft shows. (My f-inlaw actually believes Tom Friedman is a moderate. Yes of course, a Chinese Communist loving NYT opinion writer is a “moderate”). The 4 Liberal justices ( as reported last week on news shows) are the “moderate” wing of SC. Enough of this—- call these anchors out by their biases.

We need to get to the viewers that don’t pay attention to this stuff.

  • spoasteph97

Todd Akin and Sarah Steelman lead Claire McCaskill several times, while John Brunner has led Claire McCaskill in the last few polls.

    Also:

Todd Akin has the endorsements of Huck-PAC (Governor Huckabee), Rep. Michelle Bachmann, Rep. Jeb Hensarling, and Eagle Forum.

Sarah Steelman has the endorsement of Missouri Speaker Steve Tilley.

Sarah Steelman leads in the recent polls that are not internal. I repeat: ANY OF THEM WOULD BE BETTER THAN CLAIRE MCCASKILL!!! :)

  • votemout2012

Once again I think anyone looking at these candidates in debates Akin is clear winner. I encourage anyone on the fence tune in debate on Friday on KMOV. The last debate for 97.1 was an example. Todd does not stumble over the issue like Steeleman. Todd does not avoid questions when he doesn’t know the answer like Brunner. Problem for Todd is he does not have the Brunner cash. Brunner negative campaign is working for him. It is sad to see once again a lesser candidate will probably win because he has the cash to smear. Todd has an 82% rating from Heritage Action. He is a fiscal and social conservative.

  • debjim90

Similar read to me, we will keep watching, listening, and helping get the word out!
As a side note, we all should be following the local elections and supporting the conservative upholders of the laws. Our local sheriff primary is a good example, as the incumbent is one that is a bit shady, but knows so many people it will be difficult to beat him. Not impossible, but difficult! Money talks.

  • celador2

Its time to up the ante on collaborators and deal makers and to give courage to frontline workers in field who will stand up to Obamacare and its apologists. We constitutional conservatives need another visible big step to make a foot print like a Big foot.

Sen Ron Johnson WI will be a RS speaker in August. I have posted to his leading on the need for budget resolutios after three years of CRs and debt ceiling hikes and his success in shaking up caucus seniority the last time the voted caucus leaders. This man is leading.

Ron Johnson is the man to challenge Mitch McConnell for GOP caucus leader. Surely someone at RS gathering will ask Ron if he is willing to take that step. I think he is ready.

IF he does that line of action would give courage to others in the lists above and beyond.

If Ron Johnson would challenge Mitch that action would shine a light on the need for a new Republican caucus leader , Reps and Senators.

Steve Stockman is in a run-off in TX-36. He is a reliable, authentic, true-believer conservative who was originally elected in 1994. He’s been out of congress a while, but has a proven record of pushing the leadership to aggressively fight liberals.

Stockman’s opponent is trying to buy the race, and while he is saying many of the right things, he has no track record or past involvement. By contrast, Steve has been a conservative activist for decades. Nobody is to the right of Steve Stockman, and NOBODY will push the leadership harder (or buck them more aggressively) to do the right thing.

Not Federal, but also look at Dr. Donna Campbell who is running in Texas Senate district 25 against the RINO poster child (Jeff Wentworth).

Bills is preferrable to oh say Stuart Smalley (uh, I mean Al Franken) or a Tancredo-bot.

#Just Saying – but I might be wrong.

  • spoasteph97

Kurt Bills, Connie Mack, Ted Cruz, and Mark Neumann would be better than any Democrat I could think of. I don’t remember who it was, but somebody called Senators Demint, Paul, and Lee the terrific three!

I personally am a strong supporter of Connie Mack and Ted Cruz…Kurt Bills is pretty good,…I really don’t mind who wins the GOP Primary in Wisconsin as long as he can defeat Rep. Tammy Baldwin (I REALLY do not like her and would hate to see her in congress.).

  • spoasteph97

I strongly support Steve Stockman for TX-36. He has been endorsed by Gun Owners of America, Citizens United PVF, Reps. Ron Paul, Louie Gohmert, Dana Rohrabacher, Young Conservatives of Texas, and so many other great conservatives.

Also, I hope that pro-abortion State Senator Wenthworth is sent to retirement soon! GO DONNA CAMPBELL!

  • nomorekoolaid

Byron Donalds has been endorsed by a Constitutional Scholar. He is decidedly the people’s candidate.

?Byron Donalds is the only candidate in this race who can boast of over 250 committed grassroots volunteers.
?He has won 3 forum straw polls by wide margins and the News-Press Poll. http://www.news-press.com/article/20120609/NEWS0107/120609014
?Byron Donalds has been endorsed by Constitutional Scholar Andrew Joppa, retired professor of Mercy College in NY on the air with Bob Harden here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmtgXtmITHs&feature=relmfu.
?He spoke at the Save America Foundation meeting a few weeks ago to a standing ovation. You can hear that speech here http://watchdogwire.com/florida/video/byron-donalds-running-florida-congressional-district-19/.
?Donalds has been endorsed by GOOOH (Get Out Of Our House). GOOOH is a non-partisan movement to elect citizen legislators, enact term limits and remove special interest influence. Byron was selected for endorsement based upon a vetting process of more than 300 citizens who selected him over other candidates in the race. See the endorsement here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJgP5G3S7wM&feature=player_embedded.
?Donalds has also gained the attention of and is being supported by Herman Cain as the Fair Tax candidate. See the article here http://cainsolutionsrevolution.com/S=65e320e40764884a1fd28eee98e5418616df6d5a/news/florida-candidate-now-a-cain-lieutenant.
?He has just received notice that he is a Liberty Takeover 2012 endorsed Candidate. You can see that endorsement here http://www.examiner.com/article/byron-donalds-liberty-candidate-for-u-s-congress.

Do you want a real conservative? Then you want Byron Donalds! www.byrondonalds.com

  • nomorekoolaid

Byron Donalds will give you answers that are thoughtful, historical and constitutionally based. They are all his own answers, so ask away! http://www.byrondonalds.com/issues.html

Byron is the people’s choice, he has won the Goooh endorsement, he is Andrew Joppa’s choice, a constitutional scholar, and he has won 3 straw polls. He is young, vibrant, conservative and brilliant and he is running for Connie Mack’s seat in FL’s CD 19. I don’t know why Erick has picked Chauncey Goss. Nice guy, but not near the gumption and conviction of Byron Donalds, nor near the ability to articulate the vision! Check Byron out…I promise you will not be disappointed!

  • spoasteph97

His plans are very conservative, and he seems like a great man and candidate!

While Mr. Erickson may know some things about Mr. Goss that we don’t, Mr. Goss’s website does not articulate very clearly his plan for America. Mr. Donald’s does.

I’m not officially supporting anybody yet, but I have to say that Mr. Donald’s webpage is very impressive.

(And not trying to say that race or gender is important or anything—if you are conservative, you are a conservative—-but I just love how Reps. Allen West and Tim Scott help the GOP Party fight off attacks of racism (Rev. Al Sharpton is boiling with anger when he watches these two defend the GOP.) :) )

  • davidosborne

I will not comment on the other candidates that you mention, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that your are way off on FL-19 !

Byron Donalds is by far the best candidate in this race and deserves the support of EVERY conservative voter in FL-19.

In fact he deserves support from all across the country as he takes on the ESTABLISHMENT !

    TOWARD VICTORY

  • spoasteph97

He is an inspiration to many. I am still researching each candidate, but I can say for now that he IS the most Conservative of them all.

  • Common_Cents

I think it’d be instructive to have a post on how candidates are decided on, backed, recruited etc…. And how we can recruit even more conservatives to get into races in the future.

  • otis1

It should not be held in or near DC,or Obama will only jump on AF1 again like he did the last times, claiming he had no idea a million “humerous, dangerous, terrorist, and racist people, were about to OCCUPY DC? And the MSM will only video implanted audience members with bad signs to back up that huge lie.

This Convention should be held in the State that has been most attacked by DC since 2008,and only those Congressional Candidates from both sides who want to attend and get up on the soapbox for 20 minutes, should RSVP.

This Convention should tell any candidate that wants to attend and believes in the Tea Parties/America,that they will be notified of the venue just 24 hours before it occurs, and will not know exactly where it is being held until they arrive at the airport, and the buses take them there.

Only a handful of the most proven /trusted 2ND Tea Party leaders should know where their venue is,and there would be no actual audience, just a camera ,a soapbox, and 20 minutes.

It would be fun to see who from both sides of the aisle is eager to attend. And to watch ABCBSNBC trying to find the venue to alert OCCUPY well in advance,or make TEA PARTY demonstrators look bad, would be priceless.

This venue could be a bus ride away from the airport in a vacant private field, Jan Brewer’s backyard,New Mexico,Texas, who knows?

  • gekster

Who would lead it, to then be sumarily attacked by all the leftist hacks.
If you hadn’t noticed it, the Tea Party is doing just fine in the shadows.

    To quote Mr. Brockway:
We are there in the various Tea Party groups, leaderless, but not rudderless.
We steer always toward the Constitutional principles this nation was founded upon

No, a convention is not needed.

  • norino2012

Great pick for FL 19. Goss was the right hand man responsible for all the analytics in the Ryan plans. He may not give the soaring speeches that seem to distract so many voters these days, but he is a roll up your sleeves, hard working, conservative who understands the issues well enough to make a difference for this nation quickly. The other candidate mentioned above seems to be a bit of a flash in the pan and has no record of doing anything except making speeches. He batted for other team until 2010, and as much as I respect his newly found conservatism, I would rather vote for someone who has a record of consistently and successfully working for the cause.

  • otis1

    Would that work?
