The Con$ultant Cla$$

A few weeks ago I wrote this about the GOP’s consultant class:

can I just say what a bunch of charlatans and grifters most GOP consultants are. We have all these GOP Super PACs sucking up millions and millions of dollars to help Mitt Romney and now in the summer lull? Nothing. But I bet some consultants are getting rich. It’s like the GOP consultant class learned all the wrong lessons from Bob Shrum.

I await the GOP getting Brian Terry’s family on film to respond to the ridiculous Priorities USA advertisement that Romney killed some guy’s wife.

In the meantime, the GOP Super PAC ads continue to be mostly forgettable while the Super PAC’s themselves continue to raid the pockets of GOP multi-millionaires.

Now add two more data points.

David Dewhurst of Texas spent $25 million of his own money to lose badly to an upstart named Ted Cruz who only a year ago was polling at 3% in the polls. It was reminiscent of Charlie Crist’s collapse.

Last night in Missouri, Todd Akin, a man with a congressional record with much to go after, beat John Brunner. Brunner spent $8 million.

Note to GOP multi-millionaires: when consultants are circling you, plying you with compliments, and telling you how awesome you are, understand that what is going on is that you are roadkill and they are vultures. They will pick your carcass clean.

Also, the rest of us should understand that Democrat multi-millionaires seem to do quite well in electoral politics. What’s the difference? More often than not, they are running because they believe in a cause. Most Republican multi-millionaires seem to run because they believe in themselves.

Causes always translate better with voters than egos do.

but I will support Todd Akin…even though with less excitement than I have for Ted Cruz or Richard Mourdock.

I wonder why Senators Lee and Johnson (two of Demint’s closest allies) supported Steelman and Brunner over Akin. I am concerned about Akin’s support for earmarks in which Club for Growth blasted him. But nevertheless, I will support Mr. Akin.

But we MUST defeat Air Claire this November. Read my post in which I announce my support for Todd Akin. I will support the GOP nominee…so that we can repeal Obamacare, cut taxes, balanced the budget, and make America the shining city upon a hill once again.

If consultants had to abide by conflict of interest practices that are standard operating procedure in business, much would improve.

The convoluted web of influence that exists among political consultants is not limited to campaigning but also into redistricting, committee work and governing agendas.

It’s ugly with no sign of reversing course.

Akin has consistently been on the conservative side of the Republican party. Anyone who has been in D.C. as long as he has will have votes that can be portrayed in a bad light. However he has and will continue to pull the party to the right. Let’s not get to caught up in the pursuit of perfection that we run out the very good.

My opposition during the primary was not as much against Todd Akin as it was in favor of John Brunner.

I oppose purists with a great passion. Ronald Reagan said that if anyone agreed with him at least 80%, he would be willing to work with him/her. That is where I get my 80% rule from. If it worked with the great President…it can work for a regular citizen like myself.

Especially the causes vs. egos comparison. Bravo. I can’t help but think that if Mitt Romney loses, all that money flowing to his TV ads is going to be one big stimulus program for TV networks and ad agencies, when maybe it would have been better spent on men like Ted Cruz and real conservatives.

need to send a message to Congress….We will elect you and give you the majority in the Senate and the House…but God help you if you do what you did during the Bush Administration. STOP big government, get it out of private business..in fact…get it out of just about everything because it is a mess and it is costing us dearly. We don’t need twelve different agencies to deal WITH ONE PROBLEM.

We better have a leader that unites us…because if that doesn’t happen…put a fork in the good ole USA

I think Mitt is starting to awake from his passive, polite stupor. He seems to be starting to think about getting hot at the unbelievable BS and stark lies from our president. The man has zero scruples and no shame. He has no experience and has performed on the job horrendously. Yet he simply wants to keep his fat job flying around and being popular.

WE CAN’T LET IT HAPPEN. GET MAD, MITT. AND GET MAD ALL OTHER RATIONAL THINKING AMERICANS WHO CARE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY.
