It’s Not Too Much To Ask…It’s Just Too Much To Give

[h/t Drudge]

Tag teaming on James’ way excellent piece on Rangel I thought I’d pigpile with a walk down Nancy’s memory lane as she did the snoopy dance on election night in ’06, basking in the glow of victory:

“The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history,” Pelosi said.

Yep…Nancy heard us, but she just couldn’t pull it off. From the video, just for funs and giggles:

Today, the American people voted for change and they voted for Democrats to take our country in a new direction…and that is exactly what we intend to do. The American people voted for a new direction to restore civility and bipartisanship in Washington D.C. and Democrats promise to work together in a bipartisan way for all Americans.

I can’t go on…tears of nostalgia and wistful reminiscence of the first day of America’s return to the bounty and splendor and group hugs we enjoy today because of the work from Pelosi and Reid and Obama just keep me from seeing clearly enough to type anymore.

. . .we try to “clean up the swamp,” or however that duplicitous hagfish phrased it, we might want to choose someone a little further removed from organized crime to carry the banner.

It just makes sense if you think about it.

    Life… Is… Good.

And I fully expect the Dems on the Ethics Committee to try to fully absolve Rangel after this little ‘Show Trial’.

I’d like to think I’m wrong on this. But I doubt it.

        1. if it’s held before the election it will hurt dems regardless of outcome
        2. if it’s held after the election, Republicans will be in charge (unless Dems try to squeeze it in the lame duck session

From the WSJ, 15 July 2010:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is sending private signals that she is willing to support watering down the powers of the Office of Congressional Ethics, the panel she and fellow Democrats created last year to serve as a new watchdog on congressional misconduct.

I guess the Dems wanted more of a lapdog than a watchdog.

she said the American people voted for Democrats to take the country in a new direction, and that they did. Problem is, more and more folks aren’t happy with the direction the country is going in, and this time, Nancy doesn’t give a rat’s tail.

This piece almost had me screaming in laughter, especially the three paragraphs where she heaped praise on Pelosi for being “good on ethics.”

I can’t help but wonder if that woman lives in an alternate universe.
