Harry Reid’s Pants Are on Fire

Doubtless you have all heard of Senator Reid’s comments on July 31st that he’s heard from a Bain investor that Romney hadn’t paid any taxes for 10 years. Then, on August 2nd, he doubled down, even in absence of any actual evidence, and he repeated those allegations on the Senate floor. On August 3rd, he tripled down. I think the title from the HotAir post says it all: “My source on Romney’s taxes is so incredibly credible that I won’t say who he is,”…Rrright.

Politifact has finally weighed in on the subject, and it’s not good for Reid:

Reid has said Romney paid no taxes for 10 years. It was no slip of the tongue. He repeated the claim on at least two more occasions, at one point saying that “the word is out” when in fact it was only Reid who put that “word” out.

Reid has produced no evidence to back up his claim other than attribution to a shadowy anonymous source. Romney has denied the claim, and tax experts back him up, saying that the nature of Romney’s investments in Bain make it highly unlikely he would have been able to avoid paying taxes altogether — especially for 10 years.

Reid has made an extreme claim with nothing solid to back it up. Pants on Fire!

I suppose this is one of those occasions where a lie is so absurd that they have to come out against it. Even the White House, which has been trying to ply the tax returns issue for the past few weeks, has decided Reid’s forgotten the first rule of holes.*

Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped Reid from quadrupling down.

*=Stop digging!

P.S. Word has it that Harry Reid is a pederast.

I do not think anyone cares what Reid and Pelosi say. Didn’t she back him up on this claim? I think she did but I’m not 100% sure.

Only the lefties care what either of them have to say, and then not so much, since they are both at career dead-ends.

      • checkmate2012

Kathleen Sebelius …the wicked witch. I guess we could do a coin toss & I know geographically you win! Shall we all break out in song when they are both gone. NOTE: this is not to be taking literally!

        • http://www4.webng.com/rickbull/lostlucky/ rickbull

Kathleen Sebelius can be the Wicked Witch of the Midwest, and Nancy can be the Wicked Witch of the Left Coast . . .

Rumor has it that Harry Reid has been excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is now a full fledged member of the Church of Satan, address: It’s located at 8625 W Sahara Avenue Las Vegas, NV 89117

        • allioop

wouldn’t be surprised. Hope Nancy pelosi’s pants are on fire too.
They are both such liars. She needs to smell hers and change them they’ve been on fire so often. Poor Harry is a seasoned liar.

    • tnfriendofcoal101368

She said Harry wasn’t lying because he didn’t say Mitt Romney hadn’t paid taxes in 10 years but that someone had told him that he hadn’t paid taxes….Nancy Pelosi is an idiot.

      • emptybucket

you give her too much intelligence!!

I saw a picture of her the other day that had her skin drawn up so tight you could see her jaw bone jutting out.

Not only is she not very bright, her face lifts have definitely squished out any brain she had left.

Guess I’m not feeling very nice today toward those 2 goof balls.

Will have to ask for extra forgiveness tonight.

      • justperhaps45

If you cut escrement fine enough is ceases to be BS.

    • checkmate2012

since they keep getting elected, someway, somehow. Boggles the mind of sane thinking people.

BTW, she did back him up as seen on other comments. Inane???

      • emptybucket

said and the look on her face….stupid.

We will never get her out and it seems she want to die in office, kind of like a cowboy dying with his boots on, except there is honor in a cowboy.

She is going to die with her face lifted!

      • bbee12

I not sure about the people in Nevada who can see on Reid name on the ballot and keeps him in office. He is one of those who will say practically anything to keep his name in the press.

Checkmate2012 you stated exactly what I have thinking ever since I heard Reid’s speech. Resaying what you wrote, just boggles the mind of sane thinking people.

        • allioop

He knows how to play ball. Where else did a senator make his kind of money over the years. Play ball is how.

People, these folks are political magicians, so watch the other hand. This is all a distraction to control the news cycle and prevent anyone talking about what really matters…the economy, jobs, illegal activities of the DOJ and this Administration. It is all a distraction, nothing else. If I can stand up ant tell a lie, and what politician doesn’t, and control what the media is spending their time on, irrelevant BS, then I win. Stop printing this stuff and lets talk about what can return America to its rightful place in the world. Talk about getting people out to vote as that is what it is going to take, not tax returns. It just irritates me to no end when RedState and other Conservative media groups fall into the liberal trap of wasting time and space on irrelevant subject that are designed to distract. Sorry Erick, but you got pulled into this, now get out and lets defeat Zero. REMEMBER in NOVEMBER

      • Lee

Romney’s folks need to counterattack. Every time some MSM dolt asks about Romney’s tax returns or even says anything about it the reply should be “that dose not matter, where is Obama’s official birth certificate” or Where are Obama’s college transcripts? etc. This way they can force the media to start vetting the imposter in chief.

        • MF

No, Lee, you’re totally wrong in your message. Take your approach and you hand the election to Obama. Whether you think there is something fishy in his college records or not (I do), it takes everyone off the point of what really needs to be stressed – the economy is in shambles, the real unemployment rate is at least 15%, not this bogus 8.254% (“it’s not 8.3%”), and the rest of the big picture.

Romney’s message needs to be along the lines of, “I don’t respond to unsubstantiated rumors or claims. If Senator Reid wants to try to provide real evidence, I can address it at that time. Until then, what we need to focus on is the fact – FACT – that our economy is a total disaster, and the recovery that should have occurred at least two years ago still hasn’t happened. This is entirely due to the President’s failed policies.”

Harry Reid is doing the Romney campaign a huge favor. Reid’s allegations are of course ridiculous and a Democratic Senate majority leader of the United States to make such slanderous accusations is beneath both the dignity of the office he holds and also as a public servant who swore to uphold the Constitution. And as such, to refrain from making such baseless claims against people, especially given the fact that the American judicial system deems a person “innocent” until “proven” guilty.

Harry Reid hasn’t proven anything because in reality his claim(s) are false and thus obviously he has no way to back them up with even a shred of evidence. If Mitt Romney hadn’t paid taxes for a whole decade, don’t you think the IRS would have been on his tail long ago and put him in jail for his supposed tax delinquency? Yet Mitt Romney is walking around a free man and the IRS is nowhere in sight. Gee, I wonder why?

Harry Reid could do the country another huge favor if he quit the Senate and moved himself and his entire family to France where his “guilty until proven innocent” views would be welcome by the French, who hold the same view, but don’t really like Americans. I’ll leave it at that.

  • http://www.infobarrel.com/Users/Introspective debw07

Sen. Harry Reid has never released his tax returns. The public has a right to know how much the Senate Majority Leader earns and how much he pays in taxes!

    • pty12300

He will say that he is not Presidetn, therefore the people do not need to know what his tax returns say, and the same with Nan. But Nan was third inline for the White House, so she should show hers. It won’t happen

      • http://www.infobarrel.com/Users/Introspective debw07

Individual income tax returns are private information, protected by law from unauthorized disclosure. U.S. presidents enjoy this protection of their privacy, however, since the early 1970s presidents have chosen to release their returns publicly.

  • checkmate2012

their talking points on the Sunday shows as the campaign spokesmen. And the mouthpiece, Carney, shrugged and said Harry will say what he wants. I haven’t heard the WH back down as your post stated; did I miss something?

And I like your title, just want to add the Liar, Liar words :)

    • http://jakespeaks.wordpress.com/ Jake

…That the White Hourse is trying to distance themselves from him in as polite a way as possible.

      • checkmate2012

coming out against it. Nonetheless, congrats on your first post without the “not related”…glad you dropped it as you saw I did (nr) for short when congratulating you on your earned accomplishment.

Well done on your first post and I like your style. Can’t wait for more as you are well on your way to a good future at your age.

    • Bill S

Because, if you had, you would have seen that the article states:

White House press secretary Jay Carney said on Monday that Reid (D-Nev.) ?speaks for himself? and had spoken on the issue without any guidance from Team Obama.

?He certainly speaks for himself,? Carney said, adding that Obama hasn’t expressed an opinion on Reid’s recent comments.

Looks like a bail to me.

Oh, and let me add: the Obama campaign has been flogging Mitt about releasing 10+ years of returns for weeks. And now that Reid puts meat to that demand, all of a sudden Carney and his boss decide to let Reid throw himself under the bus.

      • checkmate2012

bail, as I said in my 1st comment, “Carney, shrugged and said Harry will say what he wants”, which supports your comment and the links that I did take the time to read.

To me, backing down is, WH mouths stating they don’t support Reid’s comments and he should retract them. That is what I call going against Reid’s comments.

To me, they just shrugged it off like a that’s just Biden being Biden. There was no disagreement in their camp that I can see so far, lest I missed some surrogate’s comments.

        • checkmate2012

when he gave his “hostage” do-over. I guess I don’t see Reid under the bus with the WH as you do. Sure they didn’t back him 100%, but they took a pass and not diss him either with their comment that “Reid speaks for himself”.

If Reid was under the proverbial bus, they (WH) would make him retract his statement, Booker style et al, and admit that he didn’t mean to say what he did on the Floor.

Hasn’t happened and I doubt it will as the WH actually does support his baseless claim and are happy to let it promulgate IMO.

  • FlyingTigress

…You’d think he would have a passing knowledge about doubling-down on a low-hand when the dealer is showing an eight or higher?

  • DerKrieger

…but the entire point of his lie is to pressure Romney to release his tax returns to disprove Reid’s claim. Reid, and the rest of the Dems, are continuing to push the “what does Romney have to hide?” attack angle. They’re sowing seeds of doubt. It will work with the petty, envious, class warrior types of which there seem to be increasing numbers.

Not sure how Romney can counter the insinuations without releasing his returns; something I am strongly against because we all know the Dems just want to use them in more anti-rich attacks.

    • renl57

Romney must have an accounting staff to prepare his tax returns.

They can come forward, hold a press conference, and explain just how much taxes Romney had to pay.

Alternatively, Romney can at least provide that last page of Form 1040 for the last 10 years. He doesn’t have to provide every tax return, just that bottom line which states “TAX YOU OWE”.

The point is that there are ways for Romney to provide evidence short of releasing everything. If someone asked me to show how much I paid in taxes, that’s what I would do. Just show them the line TAX YOU OWE on the last part of Form 1040.

      • davesinsanantonio

If he gives them ten years of returns, they will demand twenty.

If he gives them the last page, they will demand details.

If he gives them details, they will demand ten years of breakfast menus.

Their goal is not to see his tax returns, it is to disrupt his campaign and to divert people’s attention from Obummer’s failed policies and this administrations criminal and destructive activities. Don’t give in to any of their demands, or you will never get anything else done.

        • tnfriendofcoal101368

I paid all the taxes I legally owed under tax laws you approved – other than that go fly a kite.

Romney can have his accountants say “he paid taxes”.

Romney can say he would have (and has been) audited by the IRS had he not paid taxes.

It’s BS. I would not release them unless obama released his medical records and college school records.

We need to do to obama what he did to Jack Ryan, get old records unsealed.

It is widely recognized in Washington, that ‘Sen’. Harry Reid is a
congenital, inveterate, consummate liar, so no one is surprised
that he would attack Mr. Romney, a man of impeccable morals.
    Opposites attract don’t you know?
    ‘Sen’. Harry Reid’s current record:
    1. Assistance to a Chinese company to build a $5 billion green energy plant in Nevada. One of his sons is ‘involved’ with the company.
    2. Multiple shady real estsate deals with the Nevada underworld,
making ‘Sen’. Reid a multi-millionaire…..while in office!
    3. Phone calls to Glenn Beck [similar to the call that 'Sen'. Reid
received from an anonymous Bain Capital employee] alleging that ‘Sen’. Reid is indeed a pedophile/pederast.
‘Sen’. Harry Reid has a lot to answer for. And we need to see his
tax returns for the past 25 years. Perhaps the FBI should begin
an investigation of ‘Sen’. Reid on all these allegations.
After all, he is a typical Democrat as he resorts to the same
Chicago-style, filthy gutter politics for which the Axelrod/Obama
re-election campaign is so well known.
The Senate Majority Leader of the United States Senate
needs to be investigated by the FBI.

  • renl57

If Romney can’t get the blue-collar “Reagan Democrat” types in Ohio to vote for him, he will lose Ohio–and with it, the election.

By the time of the GOP convention, Romney had better provide some kind of hard evidence to clear his name–just the Form 1040 parts of his tax returns, sworn statements by his accounting staff, or something–or else HE WILL LOSE THIS ELECTION.

This is not going to go away otherwise. I’m sure that the Dems have gotten all the local union bosses in Ohio to keep hammering this with their own membership.

    • http://tomwfox.wordpress.com/ Tom Fox

I understand that John McCain saw Mitt’s tax returns 4 years ago when Romney was being vetted for VP. So, John McCain should know if there were any years where Romney did not pay any Federal Income tax at all, and so he know if what Harry Reid says is true or not. Yet, John McCain remains silent.

      • tnfriendofcoal101368

Which is the point – Mitt Romney has released two years of tax returns and your side called him a tax cheat (while employing a convicted tax cheat as the Secretary of the Treasury). The IRS reviewed Mitt Romney’s tax returns and found them in compliance with US tax laws each year, every year of his adult life unlike Timothy Geitner who blamed TurboTax.

Now if you don’t like US tax law – join the crowd but from 2009-2011, US tax law could have been changed by a Democratic President, a filibuster proof Democratic controlled Senate, and a Democratic controlled House. Not one loophole was closed; not one of the Bush tax cuts were allowed to expire. This leads to only three conclusions:

        1. Obama believes the accountants at
Ernst and Young that allowing the tax cuts to expire at any level would cost the economy about 3/4 of a million jobs. If this is the case, then he is a liar.

        2. Obama believes what he is saying and didn’t move to have the Bush tax cuts expire when he had majorities in both Houses of Congress because it wasn’t politically expedient. If this is the case, he is a coward.

        3. Obama believes what he is saying and just forgot amidst disastrous Obama Care and Stimulus that stimulated nothing but taxpayers being on the hook for Solyndra’s bankruptcy. If this is the case, he in incompetent.

Barack Obama is either a liar, a coward or incompetent. I’ll let you pick, I can sell it either way.

            Moe,

Neither you nor the newly elected gatekeeper (tnfriendofcoal) bothered to read through the Tom Fox blog or his previous dozen RS entries. Had either of you done that – you would know that Tom Fox is no lefty.

Tnfriendofcoal is now taking gekster’s place since gekster is pouting over avagreen’s ban. Gekster has a long history of these self-imposed RS holidays (THANK GOD). His last pout session lasted 6 weeks. I’m hoping for a six month pout this time around.

Also please notice some other conspicuous absences (acat, demsaresatanic, aesthete, etc.). How nice it has been at RS without having to scroll through and see page after page after page of that hideous cat picture. Maybe acat is roadkill (we can only hope).

My point is that most of the negativity left at RS lately comes from the MODS. Can you say streif = strife. What a jackass! Actually, there must be a job requirement of being a major asshole in order to even apply for the demi-god position of moderator. LOL!

          • gekster

No sweat over anyones ban, but anxiously waiting for yours, which will come soon.

            ps: get screwed. ;)

          • gekster

And since I signed up havn’t been away for more than 5 weeks.
This absence was due to lighting hitting my house and frying my computers.
            Just got them fixed.

Any more words of wisdom from you?

Save it for now, I’m going to vote for people who are conservatives, something you would not know about.

          • westcoastpatriette

I am willing to do that for you because everyone needs some lovin’ and companionship, even you.

Now get to work on bettering yourself as so far all you have done is shown just how pathetic it is to be you. The first step is recreating yourself is companionship, and I mean the real thing, not what you conjure up in your mind and relay to your hand.

Don’t want to address the points that Obama, Pelosi and Reid didn’t change tax laws that Romney followed with a little name calling fit. Did I hurt your feelings? Well, tell you what we will go with Tom Fox’s greatest hits on RedState…

            Defends Lisa Jackson
?Even though shale fracking for natural gas has produced an unprecedented amount of jobs in North Dakota and Texas, while producing cheap energy for our hungry markets, EPA Director Lisa Jackson is seeking to destroy it. She is now collaborating with environmental extremists to terminate this revolutionary means of energy exploration indefinitely.?

It?s a bold assertion. Is there any basis in fact for it? If so, what?

            Defending Barack Obama’s failure

I enjoyed Robert Heinlein?s science fiction when I was a teenager, but his exceptionally opinionated fictional characters didn?t understand economics any better than some exceptionally opinionated bloggers I?ve seen. Oil prices spiking up 25% from February to May this year because of the events in Egypt and Libya had no effect on the economy? And the near total disruption of the world?s third largest economy due to natural disaster was just an isolated and inconsequential event, with no impact here? Right. Who doesn?t understand economics?

Telling me you voted for Bob Dole in 1996, only tells me you are ashamed to admit, you support Obama now.

      • tnfriendofcoal101368

That he did not deny and in fact his spokesman called cute. No one else has supported Senator Reid as well in addition Senator Reid has refused to supply phone records and tax returns that would prove his innocence. This can only lead reasonable Americans to believe Senator Reid has something to hide.

      • Bill S

If you’re implying that McCain’s “silence” is an implicit accusation, then you can just walk away right now. If not, then what makes you think he needs to stick his nose into Romney’s business? And what makes you think anyone would actually believe him?

There are ten’s of thousands of stories on the left’s lies and media bias.

We complain and highlight them to no end, they drive us crazy.

But we have to look at the big picture to see how they can be perpetuated.

The left “owns” the MSM. The MSM is a propaganda too for the left. Until that changes this will keep going.

I liken it to you are on a boat, the boat is leaking, you keep bailing, but never plug the leak. The boat will continue to leak until you address the hole.

I don’t get why the Republican party hasn’t woken up to this, that the media is the distribution channel for the left’s lies. The media is the infrastructure or supply line if you will.

We don’t even talk about talking about making some plan to combat the media, let alone have a plan, or implement one.

Most often our Republicans in DC march off to get slaughtered one by one in TV interviews, falling for every biased line of questioning by hack propagandist reporters.

There are only maybe a handful that can and do punch back. Gingrich, Sununu, West, Rubio, Christy, Giuliani etc…Pathetic in this day and time.

Why don’t Republicans have a plan to take on the propaganda media?

Let’s focus on plugging the hole and take the left’s megaphone away, instead of continuing to bail and letting them get away with blatant lies.

I have been in positions of authority within the Church over the years and I have dis-fellowship and excommunicated people from the Church. From what I know of Harry Reid just in the media and his voting Record in congress it makes it hard for me to feel i did the right thing. Harry Reid is a first class liar just like his boss Obama. Reid stands for so many things in congress that are absolutely against Church teaching including the Welfare system Harry is so proud of. I work in the DC temple from time to time. If i were to ever be working and Harry came into the Temple I would have to leave. I would be suspicious of any Bishop or Stake President that would interview harry and give him a Temple Recommend.

I totally agree with what you said and fail to understand how he could be considered a good Christian, a good practicing Mormon, or even an even handed decent person. This man has crossed the line continuously but this time he has exceeded himself. The good thing is that when the final judgement comes he will be held accountable for his behavior but it would be welcome to see him finally get his comeuppance in this life as well. He gives the church, it’s teachings and it’s standards a bad name.

Mr. Reid (doesn’t deserve title of Senator much less Majority Leader) as well as Ms. Pelosi can be correlated to the lowest spectrum of the assessment of Congressional credibility now approaching 10 percent or less. Let’s just petition for a financial disclosure rule which compels all elected Federal officials to submit previous 3 years of tax returns annually. This would be a sure fire way to reduce incumbency………don’t you think?

Since Hirsute Harry brought it up, I have a legitimate question: “Would our current ‘Demander In Chief’ pass a congressional conformation hearing for a cabinet post? Well, Harry? Would he?

but just in case O wins, Nevada should begin a recall election for Harry now. Even if Romney wins, Harry will be as much a pain in the Senate as minority leader Nancy.

      Recall Reidiot!!
