The Arkansas Senate race is one of the closest ones this election season. As a Democrat in a conservative state, incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor (D-AR) has tried to present himself as a moderate in tune with his state's more conservative leanings, especially on social issues. He has emphasized repeatedly that he does not support same-sex marriage, but how does he really feel when the cameras and microphones are off? A bombshell new video from James O'Keefe's Project Veritas purportedly reveals that Pryor is a supporter same-sex marriage, and as other Democrats explain, he's hiding his true colors in order to get elected.
From the press release:
“I’m not going to outlaw [same-sex marriage],” Pryor told a small group according to an activist involved with the Stonewall Democratic Caucus of Arkansas. “I don’t think [gay people] should be discriminated against.”
“He can’t say everything he wants to say to get elected,” said a Pine Bluff Democrat in the video. “He has to play politics.”
Paragould, Arkansas Mayor Mike Gaskill expanded on the same theme: “That’s the sad thing about politics. Unfortunately people can’t stand up and say what they really, really want to do and believe in.”
“Whether we are talking about support of the coal industry in Kentucky or same-sex marriage in Arkansas, the pattern is the same. Key workers, donors, supporters and elected officials have an expectation that their Democratic Senate candidates are lying in order to gain votes and it doesn’t bother them one bit,” said Project Veritas Action founder James O’Keefe. “We are talking about a casual disregard for the truth from the grassroots all the way to the top. Voters clearly deserve better than this and the traditional media certainly hasn’t been providing it.”
Additionally, one Pryor supporter jokes "that she will find and kill investigator if he reveals that Pryor supports gay marriage."
Watch the video yourself and see what Project Veritas found:
If Mark Pryor is lying to Arkansas about his stance on gay marriage, then what else is lying about? What else will he be willing to lie about? He pretends to be a conservative Democrat, but behind closed doors, he evidently shows his true Liberal colors. What's worse is that his supporters appear to be absolutely fine with him lying to the rest of Arkansas. After all, he does need to get (re-)elected, and politics is a "lying game" anyways. Arkansans needs to remember that when the head to the polls this November.
Meanwhile, Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR) is the Republican running in the race, and his conservative convictions are true. Let's get him elected this time around.
