Guatemalan President Offered to Help the US Deport Illegal Immigrants - the Biden Administration Turned Him Down

It seems like every week, we get even more indicators that President Joe Biden does not want to address the ever-worsening migrant crisis. Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, in an interview with the Daily Caller, criticized the Biden administration for its refusal to allow the country to aid the U.S. in dealing with the swarm of illegal aliens making their way to the southern border.

From the report:

Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei said the Biden administration refused to provide Guatemala with the tools to deport illegal migrants heading to the U.S., in an exclusive interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation from his presidential palace.

Giammattei told the DCNF that he’d requested that the Biden administration move its deportation planes and buses to Guatemala for the country to use in returning illegal migrants to their home countries before they reach the U.S. He said it would save the Biden administration hefty costs of such large migration waves and allow migrants from far away places to go home immediately.

This immediately raises a question: If the president were serious about preventing illegals from entering the country, why would he turn an offer like this down?

President Giammattei basically offered to deport illegal immigrants so that our immigration authorities, which are already stretched thin, wouldn’t have to. He continued:

“Having all of these people in the United States costs the U.S. government millions and millions of dollars. We have suggested that they should keep the airplanes here, so that we ourselves can deport them back to their countries of origin, be it Haiti or be it whatever the country. If they keep their airplanes here, we can send them back. Otherwise, why wait until the people reach U.S. soil to then spend millions and millions of dollars to then send them back?”

Right now, Guatemala already sends non-Central American illegal migrants to Honduras when they are caught traveling through the country. It is one of several nations that illegals will travel through on the way to the southern border. These include Afghans attempting to make it to the United States.

“We have also stated that we could use the buses to return these people to their countries of origin,” Giammattei explained. “And they have told us that they cannot do that because their laws don’t allow it.”

However, the U.S. already provides money and resources to Guatemala to address border security. According to the Daily Caller:

“On Oct. 13, the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala announced that it gave 95 vehicles, including Toyota Hilux vehicles, Hino 5 and 12 ton trucks, Toyota Land Cruisers and Suzuki ATVs to the Guatemalan military to support border security efforts. The donation is meant to support Guatemala’s efforts in combating transnational crime and drug trafficking.”

Nevertheless, the White House still refuses to give aid to help Guatemala deport U.S.-bound illegals before they reach the southern border.

We already know why, don’t we?

At first, I was willing to give the Biden administration the benefit of the doubt. After all, President Barack Obama was stricter on immigration than most of his left-leaning contemporaries, and Biden cast himself as a moderate. Then, I attributed the lack of solutions to pure incompetence. As the maxim goes, “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”

But at this point, it seems silly to suggest that this administration is merely incompetent or stupid. They know what they are doing. If they wanted to decrease the influx of migrants and illegal aliens to the southern border, they wouldn’t have reversed almost all of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. Its officials would not be pushing for a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens during a migrant crisis.

The truth is that Biden and his cronies want the crisis to continue. They want as many people entering the country as possible. Eventually, folks like him in the Democratic Party will want to figure out a way to grant these individuals amnesty, hoping to gain electoral advantages. There is no other way to spin this. Unfortunately, he still has two more years to import as many illegals as he possibly can.
