Good News: Ahmed the Clock Boy Spent Nine Months Getting Indoctrinated in Qatar and Now He's Returned to Texas

Ahmed Mohamed, 14, waves before leaving his family's home in Irving, Texas, Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015. Ahmed was arrested Monday at his school after a teacher thought a homemade clock he built was a bomb. He remains suspended and said he will not return to classes at MacArthur High School. Ahmed Mohammed was just a kid who liked to tinker with things. The now-infamous “Clock Kid” left for Qatar after his arrest for a clock he’d taken apart and rebuilt to look suspiciously like a bomb, but he’s now back and ready to change the world.

I suppose you could say it was only a matter of time.

In a glowing piece titled “Clock boy Ahmed Mohamed on life in Qatar, what he’s learned about hate,” which announces Ahmed’s triumphant return to “hate”-filled Texas after having undergone 9 months of academic and religious training in the Islamic country, the clock/bomb hoax celebrity explains his goal:  “I want to help change Texas for a better state, and I hope that not just for Texas, but the entire world.”

“People sometimes don’t want to admit their mistakes, and sometimes the best thing to do is to help them change,” said Ahmed, whom The Dallas Morning News describes as returning to the U.S. with “a deeper appreciation for his religion and a thicker skin. “

You see, it wasn’t the fact that he made something that looked like a bomb! It was the bigots in Texas who saw what looked like a bomb and reported it who are at fault. He calls it their mistake. It certainly wasn’t what he did – likely because it was done on purpose. The clock was a mere publicity stunt, as covered by my colleague streiff almost a year ago.

Qatar is believed to be funding terrorism, home to some human rights violations, and even has alleged ties to ISIS. This does not, of course, mean that Ahmed has become a member of ISIS or any other terror cell, but given that he left the country apparently solely to be educated in the Quran and Islam, and now wants to change Texas and America, one can assume he is not returning with the most optimistic view of a place that once condemned him for a potential hoax bomb threat.
