Maybe… maybe the liberals were right in thinking electing Donald Trump was the end of the world? It could very well be the case

The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists will hold a live news conference on Thursday January 26th to announce whether the minute hand will be adjusted. It is believed that the minute hand will move closer to midnight due to many world factors, including United States-Russia relations, North Korean ambitions, the Iran Nuclear Deal, and the uncertain fate of climate solutions. Also of note are President Donald Trump’s comments on nuclear arms and climate issues.

According to a news advisory from The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, the announcement will be made at 10:00 a.m. EST on Thursday January 26, 2017 after a decision by the Board of Sponsors, which includes 15 Nobel Laureates.

The minute hand is currently on three minutes to midnight, and there is talk of moving it up to two minutes to midnight. The last time the clock was adjusted was in early 2015.

The Doomsday Clock is a lovely little metaphor for how close we are to nuclear war/Armageddon. While it’s doubtful that anyone would be crazy enough to start a nuclear war in this day and age, Trump’s talks of increasing our nuclear arsenal seems to put some people on edge.

The deteriorating state of the world’s geopolitical stage (Thanks, Obama!) is also a major cause for concern, however, and Russia’s re-emergence as a global pain in the ass has made the fears of the Cold War start to trickle back for some.

Regardless of how you view the news, it’s still a pretty good indicator that we as a people love to panic.
