Trump Tweets: 2005 Tax Returns Are "Fake News"

Well, it’s not a story about Donald Trump until Trump tweets about it, I guess. The big tax return reveal last night was… really anything but shocking (other than the news that Trump paid a quarter of his income in taxes in 2005). Still, Trump had to express his thoughts. Maybe it’s therapeutic for him. I dunno.

Okay, so, given that the tax returns don’t contain anything controversial, why lash out and declare it FAKE NEWS. It is news, after all. Someone acquired his tax returns and presented them to a reporter who, as Jake Tapper points out, isn’t exactly unheard of.

Now, Johnston did go on MSNBC and flat out say Trump has to be hiding something, which probably ticked Trump off a bit. But, to label it FAKE NEWS is to render the term meaningless.

You can’t just call something FAKE NEWS because you don’t like it. That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.
