Alabama GOP Calling on Republican Governor to Resign Amid Scandal

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is in a lot of trouble. He is accused of using his power to cover up an affair with one of his top aides, and the state’s highest court has green-lighted impeachment proceedings.

Now, Bentley’s own state party is calling on him to resign.

The state legislature could begin impeachment proceedings as soon as Monday, according to NPR, and if his own party is abandoning him, things may not end up very good for him if he doesn’t resign.
