Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York, Immigration Hawk

It's been extremely interesting to watch a bunch of Democrats who have called Republicans "xenophobic" and "racist" suddenly realize that there is, in fact, a crisis at the border and unrestrained and illegal immigration into the country is actually bad.

They did not realize this, of course, when the problem was very far away. It was at the southern border in Texas and elsewhere. It wasn't in New York or any of these other so-called "Sanctuaries" the Democrats have, up until now, been proud of. So, when Texas Governor Greg Abbott began shipping immigrants who were flooding into his state to some of these Democrat strongholds, they started to get a small idea of the problem Texas is facing every day.

Keep in mind that Texas is being overwhelmed by tens of thousands of illegal immigrants daily. New York is not seeing anywhere near those numbers, and yet their system is already cracking under the pressure. Democrats are suddenly turning into immigration hawks, urging those flooding into the United States to seek asylum elsewhere. All of a sudden, Hochul and others are immigration hawks, demanding the Biden administration do something about the crisis.

"We want them to have a limit on who can come across the border," Hochul said on CBS Face the Nation on Sunday. "It is too open right now. People coming from all over the world are finding their way through, simply saying they are in need of asylum and the majority of them seem to be ending up on the streets of New York, and that is a real problem for the people of New York City."

It's really kind of adorable for her to claim that "a majority of them seem to be ending up on the streets of New York," because that makes it pretty clear that while, yes, 125,000 new arrivals to New York is a pretty serious problem, but there are tens of thousands arriving daily at a border that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insists is not open.

But the border, if not technically open, is porous enough that our border states are getting overwhelmed, and the situation is getting worse every day. The Biden administration's only actions regarding the border seem to be to make it worse. Such as granting nearly half a million Venezuelan immigrations de facto amnesty and dismantling walls and other deterrents. They've been more active in suing and chastising states rather than actually working with the states to stop the country from getting flooded.

I would like to commend Gov. Hochul, then, on realizing that this is a pretty big issue that needs to be addressed by the Biden administration. Immigration hawks should welcome her into the fold, and perhaps in a bipartisan manner, we can work to shut down the border and get a better handle on the situation. Perhaps this is the beginning of something greater, where Democrats and Republicans alike can finally agree on just how much the border needs to be treated seriously.

Why are you laughing? I'm being completely serious here.
