Think Bigger: What’s Really Behind Democrats’ Attacks on the Chamber of Commerce

We have stated on many occasions in the past that union bosses are in control of the federal government and that today’s Democrats are merely a bunch of puppets doing (or attempting to do) labor’s bidding—a de facto Labor Party.  For the latest example, one only needs to look as far as the controversy the White House and DNC have stirred up. The demonization of the Chamber of Commerce, accusing the federation of ‘taking foreign donations’ to ‘steal our Democracy,’ is but the latest attack in a multi-year campaign to destroy the federation.

This latest round, though, is an attack that is without foundation and one that has many people aghast at the transparency of the false charges.

Despite the fraudulent accusations though, many are also under the belief that this is a new attack on the Chamber, or that it is only being launched because of the election season.  First, it is not a new attack.  Secondly, it is not only for the election season that the Democrats are attacking the venerable institution. And, lastly, it is not Think Progress that is behind the idea of attacking the Chamber of Commerce, but Andy Stern (former boss of the SEIU, who is still a regular at the White House).

The attacks on the Chamber of Commerce go back to the fight over the union-bosses’ job-killing Employee Free Choice Act.  The Chamber, knowing that the union bill would hurt business and create more unemployment, was one of several groups that was vocal in opposing EFCA.  In fact, the union-funded group formed to push EFCA, the American Rights at Work, put out a press release in 2007 (when EFCA) first passed the House (it later stalled in the Senate).

After the election of Barack Obama, in the Spring of 2009, when EFCA was still a possibility, the SEIU’s Andy Stern took the lead role in trying to demonize the Chamber of Commerce. Later, when cap & trade and ObamaCare were heating up, it was the Chamber that stood in the way, eventually to be replaced by what the Democrats feared the most, an angry and organized American populace.

In fact, last year (prior to joining RedState), we wrote the following:

Last June (and perhaps before), the SEIU launched its campaignagainst the US Chamber of Commerce, largely due to its opposition to the job-destroying and delusionally-dubbed Employee Free Choice Act.

As its anti-corporate corporate campaign against the Chamber has progressed over the summer, it has included such Alinsky-likecampaign slogans as “Turn off the Lights at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.”

Enter the White House…

It is well known that the SEIU has put high-ranking union leader Dennis Rivera has been working hand-in-glove on President Obama’s plan to nationalize health care through the so-called “public option.” However, it is still rather disturbing how closely the Whte House follows the SEIU’s lead.

Earlier this month, in what many view as a ‘war on free speech,’ the White House entered the fray, joining the SEIU in attacking the Chamber of Commerce before giving the appearance of easing up when it drew criticism for creating an ‘enemies list.’

While it is one thing for a candidate running for president to pledge allegiance to a particular group (as then-candidate Obama did to the SEIU), it is quite another for the President of the United States to let someone else drive the bus, as the rest of America is shoved to the back.

Although Andy Stern has resigned his role at the SEIU, he is still on the President’s “Deficit Reduction Commission” and ‘recommending‘ public policy, while the SEIU’s Patrick Gaspard is still the White House Political Director.

For those who think this is a last-minute, desperate attempt at trying to salvage the mid-term elections, that’s partially true but, as our friend Kenny S. would say: “Think Bigger.”

While it may not make sense to demonize business during the worst recession in 75 years, they have a bigger agenda to achieve and demonization is the only way they figure they can achieve it.  The attacks on the Chamber of Commerce are all about tearing down the largest and longest-lasting institution of business that still stands in the way of union bosses and their puppets in Washington.

This time, though, Americans (and some in the media) have realized that the Democrats are gaming them and, in a bi-partisan manner, are calling them out on it.

These guys are NOT about repairing anything that’s broken. They want to remove obstacles that prevent them from controlling.

It’s almost as if they have a checklist of things to accomplish, one thing leading nicely into the next, and before you know it, they are ten steps ahead in their persuit of “social justice” and complete transformation.
The idea of tearing at COC during a recession where unemployment is out of control seemed so pathetic even for this administration. They are sowing the seeds, and its all about the Unions. How obvious now after reading this.

However, can this attack actually make any inroads? I ask that seriously because when I think of the Chamber of Commerce it’s in terms of stores and people I know, and not some vague unknown group that can be easily demonized.

    • http://kindlingforcandles.wordpress.com/ INC

they’re going after people and businesses who are personally known to me. I know I can’t be alone in this. The CoC has a local presence all over the country. For me this translates into going after the person down the street from you which translates into the government acting like thugs and bullies.

when I had my store. I only went a few times to the meetings but it was small businesses helping small businesses. We utilized each others services and actively tried to advertise each others services to our customers. I believe there was also a group insurance thing, but I never looked into it. It was a group of everyday hardworking independent people. Business owners. Mom and Pop. The kind of people this administration loathes.

[Repeat that with your spookiest Halloween voice and you'll get the implications that BHO & the unions are trying to instill.]

Seriously, the DC crowd is talking about the DC corwd…

They’ve been in DC so long that they forget that the DC Chamber is made up of your local friends, shop keepers, and bakers, etc., (who are, by the way, all part greedy capitalist bosses).

You clearly think differently and are one of them;)

  • GT350

… that BHO’s administration is profoundly anti-business. And since it’s those business people that create jobs, well, it just reinforces BHO’s culpability for the unemployment rate.

I think going after the CoC is an incredibly ineffective strategy for the Dems. It’s probably counterproductive. I hope they keep it up.

    As evidenced by this exchange-

“Do you have any evidence that it’s anything other than peanuts?”

“Well, Bob, do you have any evidence that it’s not?”

  • cornfed

image has been bothering me for the last few days,a familiar look that I couldnt quite get a grasp on.But after watching the video again,Ive got it-take 3/4 to 1 inch off of both ends of his ‘stach, and do you have?Creepy

  • dmartin

McCarthy waving a handfull of paper anouncing “I have a list”, cut to Axelrod, “Well Bob, do you have any evidence that it’s not”.

I can’t think of a better way for the VRWC to respond to their McCarthyism than by donating to the CoC.

What would you need to legally challenge the results of an election in which you lost Big Time? Illegal sources of campaign contributions. Put the results under scrutiny, then have them declared null and void, hold new elections, or simply hold over the last Congress for another two years. By the way, also have yourself voted president For Life before the next election occurs.
If the Democratic Party is anything today, it is Satanic.
Did the Bolsheviks think twice about throwing Czar Nicholas and his family down an abandoned well?

  • johnt

A very telling moment gifted to us by Axelrod, one of the brains[ ?] of the administration. I think you have the whole bunch in a nutshell right there.

  • jerseydevil

    …to BHO’s campaign!

Okay gang…with all this TEMPEST IN A TEAPOT (like my metaphor? ) with regards to BHO and his minions going after the Chamber of Commerce about ALLEGED Foreign donations (Axelrod to Schiffer after Bob said to him that the NEW YORK TIMES…of all sources…couldn’t find that this charge was VALID!!…in turn questioned Schiffer w/”Can you prove it isn’t true…HEY BOB JUST SAID THE NYT’s said they couldn’t find it for heaven’s sake!… THIS IS GREAT!!!….

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdhP2gqBs28&feature=player_embedded#! <–video

I have an “INSIDER EXTREME” subscription to the Beck radio show and in the “4th HOUR” w/ Pat and Stu they took a caller from MA who said: (and I’m paraphrasing) “We know that Obama did post all the SMALL donations to his campaign that do NOT require that they also put NAMES with those donations…well LOOK at the AMOUNTS that they posted! Things like $99.28, or $23.18…etc LOOK AT THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATE ON THOSE DATES! MOST PEOPLE DONATE IN “WHOLE AMOUNTS”…Like $25.00, or $100.00…”

LOL!!!!! I LOVE IT…YES let’s take that apart! This sort of logic I LOVE! I would think like that (but I didn’t know that these “odd amounts” were posted…didn’t know BHO HAD posted any amounts…) and I have in the past…being approached by a lawyer’s researcher who said that by looking at a chart they couldn’t tell how much of a medication a patient had received…I suggested that the researcher go to BILLING! Request an itemized bill that the patient received because…BILLING would make sure that the patient/insurance paid for EVERYTHING! And VOILA! LOL…the lawyer was able to prove the patient’s case!

OKAY OKAY…who should get that? What group could chase that down? I-Caucus? TPN? Who has the resources for that?

You could do the same in this cycle as well.

  • http://www.havearoach.com Lee Hempfling

And you won’t dismiss the answer out of hand.. here it is…

Democrats (actually its the progressives doing this) are liberals.. so they think like liberals and that means they are not capable of original thought.. they project upon their enemies what they already know from personal experience so they accuse others of what they have done….. its actually very simple…

and what they have done needs a cover story… it needs competition to Glenn Beck’s facts… and since they own the traditional media their story, regardless of how much you point out facts, is going to stick with many people who do not watch cable news and barely know when the next election is…

progressives have offered their defense (the best always being a good offense) by attacking what they THINK is going to be the stink… they won’t admit the real stink as even projection would tip off their knowing of it… but they do know of it… and I know of it because I AM IN IT IN COURT!

Why do you think Elana Kagen’s cases. all of them some 50+ cases have been moved to the front of this court’s session? Many cases are older than those she argued yet they will be heard later in the year. It can only be to keep her from casting a vote in a friday conference. No foul.

There will be progressives from both parties going to jail for a minimum of 10 years on each count. Beck has been telling you all about it without mentioning a legal case.

So the truth about what progressives think they are doing with baseless accusations and mentally insane talking points is the offense taking the place of the defense they can’t step into yet. If enough people listen to Beck, the resulting shock to the nation won’t be so bad, but if they listen to the progressives , we will have a civil war on our hands. It will happen in major cities anyway, but the nation could be spared that problem if enough understand what Beck has been teaching.

You can now ridicule the ‘conspiracy’ all you want. Read the damn thing. http://rollovermartin.com and get used to it. There is no conspiracy theory. But there is over 9000 pages of evidence and a case file over a foot thick of filed papers and you might learn what Stuart Libby was really charged with.

with the middle class who still think Democrats are on their side because their grandparents were Dems. Although many have ignored the attacks of high taxes and over-regulating which I take very personally, people identify the Chamber as a hometown group so this could cause a huge backlash. Sorta like when somebody else talks about your mama.

Charge them of doing what you do!

This is the Revolutionary mind in action, twisting the universe!

You have recovered! You can admit it, you can identify it, you can stop it from being a bother. All you need to do is become aware that you are aware that you are you, and not that mind-set. Congrats!

Democrats are incorruptible prevaricators who simply cannot tell the truth.

They lie and accuse the Chamber of Commerce of breaking the law, and say “well do you have proof you are innocent?”

Democrats do what they accuse others of doing what they do, with a stupid look on their lying faces … all the time acting like they don’t.

If you are not a stupid lying POS then do not be a democrat, because everyone will think you are a stupid lying POS if you are one.

  • dws1151

But is the charge true? That’s the real question, and nobody’s talking about it! I’m only saying . . . we know from the Chamber’s own reports that many Mumbai companies pay tens of thousands of dollars each year in dues, and we know that the Chamber buys political ads. Maybe THAT is why the Chamber has been so active in supporting the ongoing outsourcing of US jobs to Mumbai.

So Indian companies pay the Chamber to lobby Congress and the American people to increase the outsourcing of jobs to India. And all anybody can talk about is nefarious schemes and hidden agendas? Does nobody want to even discuss the issue itself? Because if it’s true, then I’m worried! I remember how worried I was when we learned that the Chinese were funding the Democrats in ’96. And look what it got them!!

Is that what you do when you disagree with somebody’s post? Replace it with some stupid video? I thought this was a place for serious discussion of serious issues. Was I wrong?

    • JSobieski

Mere disagreement does not result in a video replacement. There are well established guard rails on this site. You can disagree with those restrictions, but you aren’t going to be allowed to violate them.

Are you familiar with the struggle between the Birchers and WFB in the 50s?

Lets just say that if WFB had a blog in those days, the Birchers too would have had their posts replaced with something that prevent beclowning the ideological right of the country.

      So serious discussions? Absolutely.
The issue in question however is hardly serious. The recent testimony by 6 airforce officers of UFO encounters is far more serious than the topic at issue here.

      • dws1151

The problem is that I did not break ANY rules or guidelines. All I did was ask a question that the moderator (apparently) found it inconvenient to consider. So he replaced it with a stupid video.

Is the moderator so insecure with his own opinions that he is unable to even deal with the thought of somebody not agreeing with him on every single detail? Is he so insecure with his position that he cannot allow a simply question to remain on his website? Is he afraid that his readers might be infected with such impure thoughts?

In any event, I stand by my comments: Foreign money should NEVER be permitted to influence US elections. We know (from their own records) that the Chamber collects money in the form of dues from many foreign companies, and we know that the Chamber then uses money to buy political ads. WHY IS THIS OK???? Why would ANY conservative support such a thing . . . except for the fact that it’s the Republcans who happen (this time) to be the beneficiaries of such foreign money?

  • notthenews

the Chamber of Commerce’s books are open for all to see, and NOT one cent of foreign money pays for any campaign. On the other hand, the unions use union dues they collect from those who do not want it spent that way and pump millions into liberal campaigns, not to mention the foreign bucks they and Soros collects everyday to fund campaigns and to conduct ludicrous attacks such as the one on the CofC.
