Marxist Democrat Cringes As Russian Immigrants Compare Communism to…Democrats!

There is just no way to describe this without a smirk and a chuckle. When you read how some of New York’s Russian immigrants (who know Soviet-style Communism all-too-well) are aligning with Republicans—because they view Democrats’ policies to be too similar to the failed policies of their homeland—there is just something richly ironic there. However, when you read how their never-met-a-Marxist-she-didn’t-love Democrat legislator reacts to be having her party compared to Soviet Russia, now that is just over-the-top funny:

Businessman Arkadiy Fridman said that the newly formed Citizens Magazine Business Club, a confederation of more than 50 Russian-owned businesses here and in Brooklyn, has aligned itself with the Molinari Republican Club (MRC) in an effort to increase the Russian community’s political and economic clout.

CLOSE TO OWN VISION

“We decided we had to support this club,” said Fridman, a former Soviet Army officer who came to the United States in 1992. “They are very close to our political and business vision.”

[snip]

Fridman said that the Democrats “are going in an absolutely different direction,” focusing on “income redistribution” and rich-versus-poor “class war.”

“It’s too socialistic,” said Fridman, head of the non-profit Staten Island Community Center and president of Citizens Magazine, a public affairs publication. “It’s very painful for us to see.”

And, if that weren’t bad enough, the Democrats’ are reminding the Russian immigrants of something they thought they left behind:

The Big Brother approach reminds Fridman too much of what he left behind in the former Soviet Union.

“It’s the same rule like it was there,” said Fridman, who estimates there are around 55,000 Russian immigrants here.

Michael Petrov of the Digital Edge data management firm in Bloomfield, said that he objects to the “micro-managing of the economy” he’s seen from city as well as federal officials.

“Government is affecting small business more and more,” said Petrov, who came to the United States in 1994. “It’s the same as what’s happening in Russia.”

The Russian immigrants seem to know the path the Democratic Party is leading the nation down far better than many Democrats, which is why it seems the GOP is a better fit for the Russians.

Of course, the danger of being exposed is not lost on their Marxist legislator, union-boss-turned-Democrat-politician, State Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn), who just seems to cringe at the thought of being exposed and being labeled either a Socialist or a Communist:

State Sen. Diane Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn) said she understands the Russian aversion to anything that looks like big government, but thinks the criticism of the Democratic Party is off-base.

“You can’t ignore the fact that the Russian population here came of age during the Soviet era,” said Ms. Savino, who counts many Russians among her Brooklyn constituents.

“They have different thoughts on what communism and socialism mean. They are a little more sensitive to it.

“But, that being said,” she added, “you can’t compare the policies of the Democratic Party with communism. It’s absurd.”

Ummm. Does Yes We Can! fit here?

The Russians & Ukranians I know agree 100%.

Since we adopted our daughters from Russia we have come to know many of the Russian immigrants in our area. They can’t believe what they are seeing happen in this country and it makes them sick. Any and everything that can be done to expose the Demoncrats for the Socialists that they truly are must be done.

Most immigrants from the former Warsaw Republic countries, who came after 1950 are Republicans. It doesn’t matter if they are Jews, Christians or atheists. They distrust government.

It would seem that those that experienced the horrors of Socialism/Communism are better informed and attentive to their surroundings. Even Malcolm X realized his folly after living in Communist countries. But, many Americans; although small in number outside the Power centers, should get their heads out from between their legs before it is too late to stop the Marxists, now controlling the Democrat Party, from totally destroying this great country.

Well, sorry, Senator Savino, but if anyone should know what socialism looks like

TNJim (Diary) Sunday, January 16th at 4:34AM EDT (link)

it’s Russian immigrants. I’m afraid this is what is called “being called out”. Oh, and Senator? I’m afraid our side doesn’t have different thoughts on what communism and socialism mean than those immigrants. After all, the Russians showed the world what it means.

I am curious, though, Senator, What do you call government takeover of certain industries and a large chunk of the financial sector? Hmmm?

The Senator is a democrat. She is a liberal. Ergo, she is much, much smarter than other people. If you believe that actually living in a communist dictatorship gives one a greater insight into what living in a communist dictatorship is like, then she can’t help you. You just aren’t intelligent enough to know how great government control of everything (although clearly not in an oppressive totalitarian way,) really is, then you’re just going to have to take her word for it and support her efforts to bring it about.

Republican's have enabled Democrats

Wayne (Diary) Sunday, January 16th at 9:52AM EDT (link)

Now I know that some of you here don’t like the term or label “enabler”. In the context of this diary’s associating the Democratic Party with socialism and its not so distant cousin, I felt compelled to remind those so blindly loyal to the Republican party that they have contributed as much as the Democratic party to the growth and far reach of government as we know it today.

With the wave of “Constitutional” awareness sweeping the country, I put forth the motion that we all buy a pocket Constitution and get to know it intimately. I specifically encourage our Russian comrades (;-), to pick one up. I did years ago and now carry it on my iPhone as a constant reminder that we are far from the country our founding fathers envisioned. I don’t believe the Republican party truly wants to see us return to our roots. They want to gain power and move forward with business as usual working with the Democrats to continue the slow destruction of the greatest social experiment in human history.

After having said all that, it would appear that the Republican party is our best hope in regaining the spirit of individualism and personal freedom once seen as the hallmark of American culture. However, I don’t have any illusions about the Republican party, its history, method of doing political business and ultimate ability to move back to its conservative roots.

Everyone seems to think moving to the center is best, but in looking retrospectively, the Republican party today resembles the Democratic party of the 50′s and this article has already articulated what the Democratic party is today.

So where does that move the center? Always to the left! My hope is that we will come to our senses, but that is merely a hope. Reality could be seen in the same light as a mathematical formula when it comes to predicting where we will be 5 years from now.

My two cents.

Wayne

“To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.” – Thomas Jefferson -

Center is the same as Left

nhbuckeye Monday, January 17th at 3:01PM EDT (link)

The problem with “moving to the center” is that we cannot actually compromise with the Left. Compromise sounds good and is expected, but it doesn’t work. If you want small government and compromise with a big government group, you just continuously move toward big government and away from small government. Small government loses with every compromise. The Left and the Right are too far from each other for compromise. There are basic values that are not shared. Fifty years ago we could compromise on issues, back when Democrats loved individual rights and freedom. Now they only love control and tyranny because the Democrat party has been hijacked by Progressives. Progressives think the United States, the capitalist system, and we the regular non-elites are all corrupted and evil while they are not. They think we need them to steer us toward “correct thinking” and “right behavior”. They are so prideful as to think that they need to rule over us all. You cannot compromise with people like that. You can only defeat them in the hearts and minds of the electorate, or the United States of America goes down into the annals of history as a remarkable but failed experiment.

I am one of those immigrants from Russia

voicefromthevoid Monday, January 17th at 3:24PM EDT (link)

and I have to tell that to understand what’s going on one should know the operation principles of communists.

Major part of their operations scheme is “infiltration”. They infiltrate the important organizations, put their men on top, them make sure those organizations and/or institutions go their way. Take look at democratic party, take a look at public education and you will see it.

Another part of infiltration is with the purpose of discredit the target. Look at disappearing nuclear materials and centrifuges from Iraq versus “intelligence” delivered to President Bush. That was CIA infiltrated.

Another part of the communist scheme is that the changes have to happen slowly, so that the people would get used to it and at any given time there wouldn’t be enough change to result in major resistance. Steps should be small enough to portray those who see through it and object as a fringe.

Changes in USA started long before Nikita Khuschev was banging his boot in UN shouting “We will bury you!”. And he meant exactly this infiltration and resulting communist takeover, not a military means. He was not stupid, he realized USSR would never be able to take on USA militarily. Yet most of the people on this side of the ocean understood him wrong except those in the know of course.

That’s why we see GOP leaning socialist today, that’s why we see democrats turned communists, that’s why we see public education throwing millions indoctrinated in communism into constituency every year and for the brightest of them it will take decades to rethink and free themselves of indoctrination. In the meantime it practically guarantees majority pro-communist vote and slow descent of USA to totalitarian communism.

Not a very optimistic prognosis, I know.

“sensitive” to it…they are more SENSIBLE about it that you are.

From your statement, it sounds like you do admit that there could be a correlation drawn between socialism and the policies being implemented by the Democratic Party, but you wouldn’t go so far as to say those policies are the equal to communism, is that it?

So, the “new brand” of socialistic policies being implemented now are supposedly better than the “old brand” of socialistic policies?

Your argument is like listening to someone who develops pornographic material attempt to justify it by saying that their porn is “soft” porn, not “hard” porn, so it really doesn’t qualify as porn.

Russians as conservatives

commonsensecolorado Sunday, January 16th at 2:24PM EDT (link)

My daughter is a ballet student and her teacher, as well as several other teachers, members of the ballet company, and staff, are Russian immigrants. They are ALL conservatives.

Some came here during the 80s, some more recently, but they are all conservatives, the Dems remind they far too much of what they left behind. They also love this country and the opportunities it affords.

Colorado in general has a large Russian population, my kids attended school with many of their children. They also love this country and what it stands for.

As a side note, every one of them speaks English well.

I know a dear girl from Siberia,

avgjo (Diary) Sunday, January 16th at 2:26PM EDT (link)

very beautiful and intelligent, who got a lucrative job in this city. She wants to become a U.S. citizen and open a business here one day. So, in ’09, I start telling her all the stuff BO wanted to do and was doing (at the time, I know there’s plenty on his burners). After each ‘program’ I detailed, she’d object, ‘But that’s like the Soviet Union!’ I kept responding, ‘Yeah, I know.’ At the end of the conversation, she was talking about moving out of country. I told her about this little thing I had just joined millions of my fellow Americans in called the Tea Party. I told her, as a future American, she should remember, we don’t just sit down and take oppression in this country.

Thank God November confirmed my belief.

At any rate, I posted this little story because the word of these immigrants, who saw first-hand what this trash does to life on earth, is and always will be gold to the democrats’ dog poo.

But I am afraid, with the recent election of Priebus, that we are just a different flavor of big government.

Would like to hope that we can change that in our party, so we can roll back our government, preferably to 1950′s levels.

it isn’t “our way”, meaning the conservative desire to follow the Constitution and have a truly free market, it will be failure. Just look at all those countries that tried socialism or some form of despotism to one degree or another. They have almost all collapsed or are on the brink of collapse now. The exceptions are those that are so repressive that they can still manage to retain their control for a little while longer. But, at least some segments of their population are suffering a great deal either politically or economically. That is the only way these control freaks can manage to look even a bit successful–force some of their people to suffer so that the rest do not want to become part of that group and earn suffering as well. That is not the fate I desire for this country! You???

There are many other immigrant groups that agree

betty0224 Sunday, January 16th at 8:27PM EDT (link)

Its not just the Russians. I am a daughter of Cuban immigrants, and I know many Cuban immigrants and children of Cuban immigrants that feel the same way. It is absolutely painful to see what is happening in this country at the hands of this new brand of marxist democrats. I know what my family endured under the iron fist of communism, and all the sacrifices they made to immigrate legally, luckily before that option was removed. I dont know why they call the GOP anti immigrant. I find there are many immigrants,. particularly those that have escaped overbearing, over controlling tyrannical goverments that find themselves clearly more aligned with values and principles of the GOP. The GOP should more aggresively reach out to these groups. There are many. The only reason why they get the label of anti-immigrant is because they believe in securing our borders, and stopping the abuses of one particular group of immigrants, and the fact that they have been successful inportraying a border issue into an immigration issue..when its a national securtiy issue.

betty0224, thanks for speaking out on this

when did this happen?

mutantone Monday, January 17th at 12:59PM EDT (link)

Having recovered from brain surgery and losing a hell of a lot of my past memory I am still at a want to know just when the Marxist became an acceptable alternative to democracy in this republic? I do remember when there was an out poring of the vitriolic paranoid session in congress when McCarthy was seeking out communist in America, every one was against him, it was a non issue for we were America and freedom was not something that was going to be easily circumvented by communist in our Republic. But now it seems that it is an acceptable alternative to democracy when did this happen? It use to be if you called some one a communist it was a dirty word in in America, conjuring up all the restrictive controlling regimes seen in Russia and China where individual freedoms were relegated to the Politburo those in charge and the people were the workers, the drones to the greater good of the party, when did it become acceptable, to the point of being acceptable for election into our government. I for one am surprised that our constitution has been ignored and relegated to a suggestion and little more by this administration they now have czars in charge of controlling issues that affect the people. It use to be we would watch with anticipation as people escaped from Communist controlled areas of Germany or else where and call it brave to see them escape from the oppressive Communist, So I guess my question is where do we escape to? Sure there are no Berlin walls yet but then again they are talking about doing away with borders through out the Americas.
