Former[?] Communist and White House “Green Jobs Czar,” Van Jones, is partnering with Moveon.org in calling on progressives to engage in a massive protest at state capitols in all 50 states this Saturday.
According to Jones, writing in the Huffington Post:
Reinvigorated by the idealism and fighting spirit on display right now in America’s heartland, the movement for “hope and change” has a rare, second chance. It can renew itself and become again a national force with which to be reckoned.
Over the next hours and days, all who love this country need to do everything possible to spread the “spirit of Madison” to all 50 states. This does not mean we need to occupy 50 state capitol buildings; things elsewhere are not yet that dire. But this weekend, the best of America should rally on the steps of every statehouse in the union.
According to Moveon.org’s call to rally:
Calling all students, teachers, union members, workers, patriots, public servants, unemployed folks, progressives, and people of conscience:
In Wisconsin and around our country, the American Dream is under fierce attack. Instead of creating jobs, Republicans are giving tax breaks to corporations and the very rich, and then cutting funding for education, police, emergency response and vital human services. The right to organize is on the chopping block. The American Dream is slipping out of reach for more and more Americans, and we have to fight back.
We call for emergency rallies in front of every statehouse this Saturday at noon to stand in solidarity with the people of Wisconsin. Demand an end to the attacks on workers’ rights and public services across the country. Demand investment, to create decent jobs for the millions of people who desperately want to work. And demand that the rich and powerful pay their fair share.
Revolution? Or, mere progressive petulance?
With cameras in hand, we’ll see on Saturday.

What if we just ignored it?
jstjoan (Diary) Thursday, February 24th at 5:15AM EDT (link)That’s what they did to us when we had over a million people at the Capitol on 9/12/2009.
Three questions that destroy most Liberal arguments according to Thomas Sowell:
1. Compared to what?
2. At what cost?
3. What hard evidence do yo have?
How about a trade
gwalt Thursday, February 24th at 6:02AM EDT (link)Come to the rally and we’ll give you ten lottery tickets for your voting card. In other words, you can’t vote in Novemeber for these lottery tickets. How many people would take that deal?

One lotto ticket would be sufficient!
Greg (Diary) Thursday, February 24th at 8:36AM EDT (link)And you could give out fake tickets where everyone is a winner and all you have to do to collect the prize is to go to White house and collect from Obama stash.
Give us choice - we don't want to be union-istas
mine Thursday, February 24th at 6:30AM EDT (link)Unions claim the right to collective bargaining. This assumes everyone wants a union to bargain on their behalf. What about those of us who want the right to choose not to be a union member. We want to choose whether a union represents us. Union rights seem to be so one sided. They want people forced to be unionists against their will. Their fees are extortion. Like the communists they are, they do not want people to have choice.
Questions: Do unions ever wonder why most workers want nothing to do with them? Do they wonder why they are not strong outside the government sector? And are government workers so oppressed they need unions more than the private sector?
Why play into their hands?
tonitabb Thursday, February 24th at 7:13AM EDT (link)Why play into their hands? Van Jones and others have been calling for the ‘bottom up’ uprising they need since last summer to complete their goal of revolution. It didn’t work for the elections, but the coordinated ‘One Nation’ (i.e.Code Pink, Communist Party USA, SDS-type groups, SEIU, AFL-CIO, Organizing for America) efforts across the globe are counting on chaos here to give Obama the ‘umph’ to clamp down. For the moment, wouldn’t it be wiser to show solidarity among those of us who believe in the Constitution, small government, free enterprise with some type of unifying symbol across all 50 states, be it yellow ribbons, Gadsen flags, without direct counter protests? Perhaps a few cameras in their crowds to show the rest of the world who they really are, but do OUR protesting and support of liberty in a dispersed manner. Maybe even take the position publicly, laying out that violence is the Left’s strategy. We love our country (and our police), so we’re not going to play the game that way.

Document Everything.
lewbrown Thursday, February 24th at 8:10AM EDT (link)One day this will be over, but in the meantime, document everything. Take videos, take pictures, and then post them. The day will come when selective memory will begin. Then you will hear “I didn’t do that”,”No, I was never there”. Post them to a Historic web site for future people to know what happened. One such site is “http://www.archive.org/”. Just the ramblings of an old Man who sees the day when my great-great grandchildren will say “What’s a Communist?”.
Is it just me.....
NeoKong (Diary) Thursday, February 24th at 8:23AM EDT (link)Or does it seem that all the left now does is speak in Orwellian double talk where every thing they say is the exact opposite of what it really is….?
So apparently now the American dream is having a juicy set for life public sector job with gold plated benefits at tax payer expense. Instead of the land of the free we have become the land of the freebie.
Giving tax breaks to companies that actually produce jobs is some sort of scheme that takes money out of people’s pocket because as we all know all money belongs to the govt. workers first.
They are saying the right to organize is on the chopping block but they will ignore the last time Americans came together in organization in a little thing called the November to Remember. Or does that not count because they didn’t like the result…?
Fighting back is now some huge sick day scammed public employee walkout that is nothing more than a show of force that says if the taxpayers don’t give in to the public sector unions then they will punish you. Remember New york with the snow down slow down ?
People died because of that.
When they mobilize it is noble and courageous and sometime a little (cough..ahem) violent. When the Tea Party organized it was some sort of right -wing hate fest filled with racists and terrorists.
Obama told us that we all have to sacrifice. We all have to have some skin in the game. But while many people can’t afford to pay their bills or their mortgage his family goes on a luxury ski vacation and the public sector unions can’t even cough up modest benefit concessions and live like the rest of us poor slobs that pay their well above average salaries.

conservativecurmudgeon (Diary) Thursday, February 24th at 8:40AM EDT (link)And one of the things I noted was what a strangenheimer Van Jones is. Not just the 9/11 turther bizarro-world stuff, but the Star-Wars morph into the Kennedy’s bizarro-world stuff, and the intertwined, ever-flowing bilge-pump of leftist NGO’s and Non-Profits the man has started or been involved with in his vast 42-year experience… and how he’s been starting “movements” since he was 24.
Yawn…

Socialism & Liberty
Wayne (Diary) Thursday, February 24th at 9:08AM EDT (link)Yesterday while I was using my allotted time to browse various news articles, I ran across one that struck me.
The article was comparing the Nazi regime to the Republican party. It describe how Hitler outlawed all unions (making the obvious connection to the Wisconsin’s demonstrations). However, the article didn’t mention that the Nazis were a socialist movement that became a Fascist government. Like the Communist government in Russian that eventually became the USSR, evolved into the most brutal dictatorship in human history, the U.S. ally Joseph Stalin. And we continue to support brutal dictatorships in the name of our National interest which draws a road map that leads to the Constitution.
It is worrisome that so many of our young are constantly being faced with attempting to separate twisted truth from facts and if one is not armed with the knowledge of history, they are easily manipulated. Refer to Noah Webster’s quote before.
My two cents…
Wayne
“To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.” – Thomas Jefferson -
History Has Devolved To The Art of Enlightened Polemic
Repair_Man_Jack (Diary) Thursday, February 24th at 10:09AM EDT (link)History, always written by the winners, at least used to have a petina of analytical respectability. Even the brazen Karl Marx and Jingo Publius Vergilius Marro worked off of specific analytical theories that drove their historical conclusions. Marxism, however dialectically immaterial to modern existence, could be viewed as a process of accomodation between failed systems and radical uprisiongs.
Vergil preached a dogma known as “TheGreat Man Theory” where rare, exceptional individuals could mold the world around them. In a sense Aeneas was the 753BC version of John Galt. Thus, you could agree or disagree, but the entire anlysis was based on something a little more intellectual than say “The Richard Nixon is a Poopy-Head Theory of Human Evolution.”
Today, it’s just sewage poured into print. Even fairly Liberal Historians, such as The New Republic’s Barbara Tuchman would turn over in her grave and upchuck worms over what modern historians describe as intellectual discourse.

How about one you state attorney generals subpoena someone like Van Jones and ask him “why” about everything he is doing… if he answers honestly then arrest him for sedition (or whatever is appropriate) etc and tamp down the union b.s. some before the rest of the country decides to teach the unions what majority rule means when they demonstrate/intimidate one to many times. Or not – it’s a win-win either way… never mind…

It not about finances - it's about freedom
mine Thursday, February 24th at 4:01PM EDT (link)Governors haven’t addressed the issue when they say they merely want to balance the budget. When unions respond that they will give on their members conditions – you know, throw their members under the bus – they look to be reasonable. The arguement needs to be extended to trust busting as you call it. People must have a chjoice on whether they belong to a union or not. They must have a choice on wheather a union represents them. This debate cannot be just about finances.
