The Smart Girls ‘Get It.’ How About Giving Them A Hand by Getting Involved?

There are a number of RedState contributors who are involved with Smart Girl Politics who could have posted this, but it seemed apropos to post this as a way of saying ‘thanks’ to SGP for taking the lead in starting a National Voter Registration Drive.

In an e-mail sent out on Thursday, SGP outlined the goals:

Year after year, polls have shown that Conservatives outnumber Liberals almost two-to-one, so why is the number of those actually registered to vote so much closer?  Because Liberals do a great job at getting their boots on the ground and registering voters. Let’s face it, they elected the Organizer-in-Chief by doing just that.  It is time that Conservatives get on the ground and begin to build new voter rolls, an essential factor in securing electoral gains.

Smart Girl Politics Action is ready to take action and we are starting TODAY. SGPAction is proud to announce our new National Voter Registration Training and Campaign Program. Over the next few months, we will be training hundreds of conservatives how to succeed at registering new voters and we need your help.

The zombies of OFA are already out there working to win in 2012 [they just took their first scalp in NY-26] and you know the Left is hardly finished ‘fundamentally transforming’ America.

SGP could use your help. They need boots on the ground to help register voters, and they need the financial resources to do it.

Consider making a donation, as well as getting involved*.

[*An added bonus when helping SGP: They don't wear patchouli.]

To those of you at Smart Girl PoliticsThank You for taking the lead on this.

Good group, and this voter registration endeavor is of major importance. It’s amazing, actually shocking, how many people out there are not registered to vote or are registered but have moved and not changed their registration.

In 2008 my son had moved into a new apt. I stayed on his back until he mailed in the form to change his address and then jumped on the backs of his two roommates to get them to register.

But it doesn’t stop there. Once you’ve gotten someone to register, you might have to jump on their back AGAIN to get them to the polls, especially some of our younger voters, which is what I had to do. But, they did vote so my nagging was worth it.

Thank you Smart Girl Politics for undertaking this project. It’s imperative that we help them out. So, if someone you know is not registered, get them registered. And then follow up by making sure they vote. You can’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket, and you can’t win elections if you don’t vote.

During 2010 midterms I called the local county Republican office to get the background on all candidates city, county, district and judges. I myself would get frustrated when at the voting booth and go— who do I vote for?

So I called and called and called until I got a comprehensive list of Conservative candidates. If there was a liberal with no opposition, instructed to write in Herman Cain. At least it made us feel good.

A Libtard neighbor of mine sent out a “well thought out” (in her feeble mind) list of candiates as a “guide”. Gee, not one R—- just all D’s. Nice try Libtard. She tried to cloak herself and ended up looking like a buffoon.

I received a call from a good friend who thanked me for the list and told me she had NEVER voted in a midterm because she had no idea who to vote for once she got past Gov and Congress. I had made it easy for her to go and do it confidently to vote for people she knew shared the same values as her. She got her sisters out, co-workers and parents. Her mother printed out fifty copies of my list and had the door man hand out as people walked out in the morning.

There are TONS of people out there who do not vote. I believe I got at least a dozen people out to vote. We need to make it easier for them. It works.

Lets get it moving now and not play catch up or have to worry about the recounts.
