    Is it possible? I was looking at the polls of the southern states and OH-PN. They seem to be able to beat O in those states and that is 218 EC votes. This doesn’t even count the other normal Red states in the Great Plains and AL.

      Of course maybe he’ll change his mind now. I also have doubts that Newt’s ego would allow him to take the back seat especially if he’s winning, if you’re thinking they could switch spots.

        In 1979 Bush said he would never be Reagan’s VP, then at the convention changed his mind and said yes. Neve take a no from a politician as mean no forever.

        Newt might take the VP since without it his career is over. His age and time out of office means this is his last chance. There is nothing in the next 4 or 8 years that Newt could do to boost himself.

        I doubt Perry would take the VP slot. To a Texan only the Pres. is a step up (and maybe not even that). Other states have Gov. run for senate. In Texas senators run for governor. Perry seems satisfied with being in Texas. Next time he could clean the slate from his debate performances, start earlier (assuming he isn’t still the gov.). Performance is his real problem anyway. 4 or 8 years could get a lot of practice. He is plenty young enough to wait.

        I think both should hold through at least SC. I don’t see Santorum holding up once he gets the microscope. Gingrich is vunerable in SC same as what happened in Iowa. Perry’s task is much harder now, but still possible. The only reason Santorum is in the top tier is his late rise didn’t allow for proper scrutinty.
