The TMM* Memorial Monday Open Thread

Life is hard when you’re an idiot, and you’re on television surrounded by people who can speak in complete sentences. It’s like starting out in a hole, and when you’re in a hole, it’s very important to remember the First Rule of Holes. The one thing you should absolutely not do is try to use a big word – or at least something that sounds sort of like a big word you heard once – when you’re not sure what it means.

Things then proceeded to go from bad to worse for our heroine. I mean, at least we can all figure out which word she meant to say in the clip above, but then… this? What the heck is this? Anyone have any clue as to which word she was even going for?

And then, things got even worse still. Observe:

Two things: a) you said “emoticon.” You said it twice. We all heard it. b) “Waking word”? What’s a wak… know what? Nevermind. Open Thread.

*According to the lawyers, I can’t tell you what this means.

I find using the word emoticon or emoticom in a sentence to be very funny. I would have snickered and snorted at a minimum.

Seriously, did you just say emoticon??

I thought the lawyers busted you for posting under a faux-MM username?

  • Marcus_Traianus

    Good Lord.

Oh, and trust me nobody is obsessing Meg baby. We are simply laughing at your ignorance. It’s hilarious.

… thinks that making some kind of a living stabbing conservatives in the back while pretending to be one will ingratiate her with her Leftist masters. She has no idea that while she earns the contempt of conservatives everywhere, she is being laughed at with even more contempt and derision by those whose favor she seeks.

  • notpropagandized

This brick of an intellect appears to be mimicking Paris Hilton to become some type of political celebrity. John McCain must be wholly embarrassed or equally a brick-head if he thinks she has any relevance.

  • notpropagandized

    Meghan McCain says:

“Thanks everyone, was talking quickly and said ModiCOM instead of ModiCUM this morning – Thanks for obsessing over my every waking word. :-)

The only reason this empty-headed twit has any celebrity cache is because of her famous last name. And Leon is right — life IS tough when you’re stupid.

She winds up looking like a political version of Kim Kardashian… I bet that if she turned her head just right, you could hear the wind whistling in the space between her ears… emoticon.. :-)

    • Bill S

Some friends and I were arguing about whether she deserves the title “Kim Kardashian of Politics”. The consensus was that it would be an insult to KK.

And by that characteristic, she contributes something to the culture, at least.

I stand corrected… maybe the political equivalent of Snooki, then?

    THe
Urban Dictionary says that TMM has four meanings. Tell me more ( the opposite of tmi), too much makeup, too much milk, and an Australian phrase, which I will not repeat. Your lawyers sure are sensitive.
I vote for too much makeup in this case.

  • Jack_Savage

And thanks the Good Lord Meghan McCain is on this earth.

Interestingly, the point she was trying to make is as stupid as the verbal gaffe – that the Obamas, while in office, should have an emoticon of privacy and not be called to task while pissing away taxpayer dollars during a recession. When they are out of office, and it doesn’t make a bit of difference and no one can do anything about it is apparently when we should all find this stuff out.

She should really stick to sorority parties, ten counts on the keg and advocating for the morning after pill to be sold in the snack machines.

Norm Crosby called. He wants his schtick back.

  • bardamu

I have no great love for Ms. McCain, but please tell me how everything Mr. Wolf says about her doesn’t also apply (and to a much greater degree) to Sarah Palin, whose gift for malapropism is matched only by her tortured syntax. Partisan hackery is no fun.

    • jakeofalltrades

      • bardamu

Fair enough. It’s true that Palin’s reaction to the whole “refudiate” freak-out was humorous and tongue-in-cheek enough (“I’m like Shakespeare! English is a living language.”) as to make the haters seem ridiculous while subtly conceding that she might have misspoken (which, as she has also said, is hard not to do once in a while if your every word is being recorded and analyzed).

      • macbookben

GWB’s “strategery” and “newkuler.” I use them around my liberal co-workers just to draw them into a political argument. But “emodicom”? Sounds like one of those off-the wall,-as-seen-on-TV product spots during late, late, late night broadcasts. “Ladies, just point your Emodicom XL at your spouse, pull the trigger, and presto! you get a sweet, attentive, and romantically inspired lover!

  • spainishirish

And TMM’s sacking probably would violate the ADA to boot.

    Priceless stuff.

and look how far Katie has gone. Say the right things and stupidity doesn’t matter. Just another shill living a lie while defending Democrats. She is getting fatter though, the pay must be good and Dad must be proud.

    • spainishirish

While I take a back seat to no man in my disgust with TMM, isn’t the comparison to Katie Couric a bit out of bounds? I mean there are some things TMM won’t do.

      No, wait.

    • http://impudent.edublogs.org/ kyle8

She is less serious than Katie. And does not work as hard, so in reality she is worse than that other left wing idiot.

  • http://www.nighttwister.com NightTwister

I knew this would happen. Way to make yourself less relevant, Virginia GOP.

    • Scope

of what is happening with the VA election issues. The VA legislature still has no redistricting completed, which, by law, was to have been completed by Jan 1. Guess who is the leader/head on the redistricting issue, yes, exactly, Bill Bolling, the Lt. Gov. Every single federal VA House and Senate race is now affected by the lack of a passed redistricting plan. Since some of the redistricting lines can affect the ballot signature petitions, also required by anyone running for those positions in VA with the same 10,000 signature and from all districts in the state (same as the presidential race, maybe) has now been thrown into a tailspin. The House and Senate candidates cannot even begin collecting those signatures, as the State Election Board has issued the ruling that if the redistricting lines change, the candidates have to abide by the new lines. They were allowed to start collecting signatures, by law, on Jan. 1, 2012. Since Bill Bolling has not been able to corral the R’s and the D’s, that has all but thrown every single one of those races into a tailspin. Whatever signatures they have collected since Jan. 1 may be thrown out. There have been no emergency calls for legislation to come back to town, and get back to working out the differences. It may mean that every federal Senate and House candidate in the state may have very little time to collect the signatures required. That affects both parties in the state. Some R candidates have asked Atty Gen Cuccinelli for a ruling on the signature collection. He cannot possibly rule without knowing the lines. Gov. McDonnell’s appointed State Election Board official has said that the new lines must be obeyed, even though they have not been determined.

Now, Because Atty Gen. Cuccinelli has had the nerve to run against Lt. Gov. (boring as hell) Bolling, even though Cuccinelli is representing him in the Senate tie breaked going on here in VA, Bolling will not return his calls, and will not speak to Cuccinelli, at all. How id Cuccinelli supposed to represent this guy, when he won’t speak to him, not even through spokespeople.

You really need to pipe down with your armchair opinions until, or unless you study what absolute mess is going on here in VA with respect to election laws. I promise you, the Perry lawsuit is almost looking like a minor issue here at this time.

The total and complete incompetence of both Bolling and McDonnell promises to sink both any higher aspiration either have ever had. McDonnell is now becoming quite well know here in VA as the “happy face conservative.” That’s what happens when you try to micromanage things, including throwing elections the way you want them to go.

      • JSobieski

Too bad the new unknown lines won’t impact the Presidential Primary ballot issue. All of the screwups would help the legal case.

      • http://www.nighttwister.com NightTwister

I thought it was bad in Colorado, and we have Democrats in charge.

The VA GOP is worse than I thought.

And you can stuff your righteous indignation.

It’s been a tough year for the folks in Tuscaloosa and other areas of Alabama. I think a lot of motivation for this team was winning the game for those who had lost so much back in April. What a great win!
