Fox News Accuses Trump's Campaign Manager of Threatening Megyn Kelly

Boy, that escalated quickly. In the wake of Trump’s decision to skip Thursday night’s debate, Fox News has released a statement which sheds some light on some of the back and forth that has gone on between Fox News and the Trump camp over the last few days. Specifically, Fox News is accusing Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski of threatening Megyn Kelly in a telephone conversation:

“Capitulating to politicians’ ultimatums about a debate moderator violates all journalistic standards, as do threats, including the one leveled by Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski toward Megyn Kelly,” the statement said. “In a call on Saturday with a Fox News executive, Lewandowski stated that Megyn had a ‘rough couple of days after that last debate’ and he ‘would hate to have her go through that again.’ Lewandowski was warned not to level any more threats, but he continued to do so.”

If you have ever seen Corey Lewandowski on television, this is utterly believable. The man looks like he would be much more comfortable running an organization for Don Corleone than he would running a campaign for a Presidential candidate. We have covered Lewandowski’s goonish behavior with the media on multiple occasions here at RedState, and the notion that he would call Kelly and give her the old, “Nice career you have there. Be a shame if something were to happen to it,” is completely plausible.

The fact that Lewandowski maintains such a high position in Trump’s campaign organization is further evidence of what we have been saying for months – that Trump is not hiring people that make you feel confident in any way that he will run a White House that will be anything other than a disaster. A power grabbing, media intimidating disaster, at that.
