MEMBER DIARY

Orange Charlie’s Bad Day.

The traitorous Charlie Crist, who has shown himself disloyal to everything except his own election to the United States Senate, has had a difficult couple of days on the stump. In order to win the general election, Crist knows that he needs to walk a very fine line – especially given that the Democrats figure to run a real candidate in the race.  He absolutely must have the support of people who self-identify as Republican, but are more moderate than Rubio.  Which is why it wasn’t good for Crist to be caught on tape (courtesy of shark-tank.net, which is an excellent Florida state-level blog) saying “thank God” he wasn’t a Republican anymore:

Oh, but this wasn’t nearly the end of this particular Series of Unfortunate Events for Mr. Crist. More below the fold…

Also courtesy of shark-tank.net, Crist was asked about his reaction to the building of the Ground Zero mosque.  Crist’s evasive non-answer was probably harmless, but when asked about the permit for the reconstruction of the Orthodox church destroyed in 9/11, Crist’s reaction was, well, not the sort of thing you want in a campaign commercial:

But Crist’s troubles for the day didn’t stop with being unable to stop damaging things from emerging from his own mouth.  Today, former Republican Party of Florida staffer filed a wrongful termination suit against the RPOF.  Presumably, most RedState readers know by now the manifold troubles of Jim Greer (Crist’s personal lapdog at the RPOF). Wright’s lawsuit, however, mentions Crist by name in a troublesome context:

Says Wright’s complaint: “The Republican Party also began to use party money to support the senatorial campaign of Charlie Crist. The Republican Party was not supposed to financially support a candidate until after the candidate won the primary. Plaintiff realized that what the Republican Party was doing was illegal. Plaintiff reported these illegal uses of Republican Party resources to her supervisor (Richard) Swarttz.”

Crist has treated Greer, under indictment in a fraud scheme, like a dear close friend — unlike everyone else who has become a political liability for the governor. Crist just this week agreed to reimburse Greer’s $9,600 campaign donations to pay Greer’s legal fees (more here). Meanwhile, Republicans want their money back from Crist because they said he misled them when he bolted the party because he was being whipped so badly by former House Speaker Marco Rubio.

Crist is either tied with Rubio or leading slightly in most polls right now. If days like this continue, expect that to change in short order.

If Charlie Crist is still good enough for Bob “Viagra and Pepsi smoothie” Dole to give a G to after he split the GOP, then he’s good enough for……….oh, wait……..answered my own question, didn’t I?

Not really odd at all. Dole is a lobbyist and, presumably, believes Crist will be more favorable to his clients wishes than Rubio might be. Whether Dole, on a personal basis, would contribute $1k is an open question.

Never did like Dole’s politics, nor him personally, but I always felt a bit guilty over that.

Now, with this news, I feel vindicated.

Now, maybe the Republican Party will become the home of principled conservatives again.

IIRC – there was some buzz about crist as a 2012 Presidential candidate last year . . . ? Better than al-Bama, maybe . . . but not by much.

He choose to be a Republican and ran his senate campaign like he was Ronald Reagan right up until he figured he’d lose the primary.

Charlie Crist IS THE POSTER BOY for what is wrong with politics he should be at 10% in the polls. Can Floridians not recognize what a scumbag he is?

We must all remember that the number of voters vested in politicians as their providers of jobs, largess and welfare is increasing and if not stopped will spell the end of America as we know it.

Please. Talk often, and to as many people as possible. Chase down camera crews. Beg for radio air time. Opine. Pontificate. Let everyone know exactly what you stand for.

That will assure a Rubio win.

  • Darin_H

You didn’t even mention that Obama is now behind Meek on the D side of the primary! Poor Charlie, a victim of his own ego…

I’m sure y’all are watching the RCP polls like me, so, jokes aside, you know this race is going to be close. Rubio’s going to need all hands on deck to win this one, we can’t count on Crist losing it.

is because Greer knows things about Old Orange Charlie. Given Crists passion for political expediency and doing whats best for himself there’s no way he’s supporting Greer out of kindness or friendship….in my humble opinion.

Now you might ask, why then did he support the Mosque? Because he is pandering to the Left and Obama for votes and financial assistance. He’s just not very smart. Selfish AND dumb.

  • coldair

I heard him say, “Thank you for coming out.” Was there something I didn’t hear?

    What a sleaze ball.

  • Spartan4Life

I don’t get it but I guess I don’t live in Florida. I know sometimes those Seniors brains go a little soft but really, Charlie Crist? If I was to draw up something we don’t need in Washington, DC it would look like Orange Charlie.

  • jackhammer

because I think that is in his future after he loses the election…..
