Meet the 8 Republicans Who Support Late-Term Abortions

From the diaries…

Last night, the House voted on the DC Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which seeks to protect unborn babies who by 20 weeks after fertilization, if not earlier, can feel the excruciating pain, according to medical experts.

Currently, in the District of Columbia, abortion is legal, for any reason, up until the moment of birth.

And just 0.7 miles from the White House, the Washington Surgi Clinic advertises that they perform abortions up to 26 weeks, well past the 20 week point at which an unborn child can feel excruciating pain. The clinic also advertises that they perform D&E abortions – see the illustration at the bottom of this post.

The unborn baby is ripped apart, limb by limb, before the baby’s tiny head is crushed. Imagine the pain the defenseless child feels.

These eight Republicans – office phone numbers included – joined 148 Democrats in effectively endorsing this procedure, and a policy of abortion on-demand, for any reason, up to the moment of birth in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol (see full roll call here):

*Nan Hayworth (NY-19): 202-225-5441
Robert Dold, (IL-10): 202-225-4835
Mary Bono Mack (CA-45): 202-225-5330
Charlie Bass (NH-02): 202-225-5206
Judy Biggert (IL-13): 202-225-9420
Charlie Dent (PA-15): 202-225-6411
David Dreier (CA-26): 202-225-2305
*Steve LaTorette (OH-14): 202-225-5731

*Voted “Present”

Since unborn babies cannot speak for themselves, I hope that you will pick up the phone and ask each one of these offices to explain their vote.

It should also be noted that Roll Call is reporting that Reps. Robert Dold and Mary Bono Mack angrily confronted Majority Leader Eric Cantor on the floor last night for allowing a vote on the bill.

Leader Cantor is taking heat from pro-abortion Republicans, and deserves our support — call and thank him for allowing a vote on this important bill at 202-225-4000.

I do have to credit the 17 who voted for life as well.

The pictures of this atrocity are making me ill – as well they should. They remind me of depictions from medieval times of torture. Now I’ll have to wait before visiting Chik-fil-A.

It will never be introduced on the floor of the Senate so they are allowed to cast a political vote in an effort to protect their seat.

No one who is really pro-life, who actually believes that the unborn have a right to be born rather than chopped to pieces, could be a Democrat. These 17 are the picture of rank hypocrisy.

        Bart Stupak (D) MI-1 (retired)

          Carol Mosely-Braun?
          Mel Reynolds?

Okay, in context, yeah. Stupak’s worse… at least M-B and Mel were willing to admit to being hardcore libs.

            Cynthia McKinney?

As the father of a now 3 year old son born in the second trimester (smaller than the baby in the diary image) it sickens me that individuals such as those 8 would ever be elected to anything in the republican party.

    Good riddance to him.

The last thing I want to do is tell someone else what do with his or her body.

I’m completely in favor of intervening on behalf of an innocent third person.

As you know, this bill contained no exceptions for rape, incest, or fatal physical health problems of the child.

And developed more than the abortionists claim. That is the point of the ‘pain’ legislation, I believe, not whether the abortion itself is painful.

Still, you have a point. Any legislation that sets a point at which it is not ok is also saying it is ok prior to that. Most of us believe that conception is the only rational point to define the beginning of human life. Meanwhile, however, many more babies die and their corpses are handled disgracefully.

It may be from a legislator’s standpoint — trying to enact a law that will withstand court scrutiny.

The issue is human life and whether conception results in a being separate from the woman carrying the implanted egg.

Leftists argue the implanted egg, because it is dependent on the pregnant woman, is not independent of her. They are correct crudely. More finely and correctly, the implanted egg is different from both the father and the mother. DNA differences are substantial.

The Leftist argument is flawed and fraudulent, from day 1. The issue legally might be pain. The issue biologically is settled upon conception.
