Just What We Needed: The One Thing to Make the Tragedy in Newtown Worse
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | December 17th at 09:00 AM |
Another mass shooting and our nation once again mourns. This one was the worst because of all the little children murdered in cold blood. And right on schedule, before the grieving community can even bury their dead comes the usual arguments from both sides. We need more gun control! We need prayer back in schools! It’s the violent movies! The breakdown in culture! Bad parents! | Read More »
I’m Betting This Has Something To Do With Obamacare
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | December 12th at 09:13 AM |
The brilliance of the implementation of Obamacare is that it was designed for all the goodies to hit first. The bad stuff will be doled out in bits over the coming years. I’ve been warning my friends who thought it was so wonderful that their 26 year old kids could now be covered on their insurance that they would see a downside eventually and by | Read More »
First on the chopping block: Karl Rove
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | November 10th at 09:10 PM |
The one thing we all seem to agree on here is that changes must be made. And we’re going to spend the next couple of years deciding what they’re going to be. I say first thing, we oust Karl Rove. Business Insider has a column today that Rove was using Rick Santorum as a stalking horse for Romney. According to them, Rove encouraged Republicans to | Read More »
My Veteran’s Day Apology
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | November 10th at 03:28 PM |
I don’t remember who said it. I wish I did because I owe them a big apology. I think it was one of my high school teachers. But someone, when I was young and naive, suggested to me “You should think about applying to one of the military academies.” I couldn’t have been more horrified if they told me to become a stripper. Or a | Read More »
OK, So We Lost
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | November 9th at 10:52 AM |
Well, it’s been two days now. Still working our way through the 5 stages of grief. Right now, I’ve gone past denial. I think I’m still stuck on anger. I’ll get to bargaining later. I kept thinking about the old joke McCain repeated to Leno after his loss. “I slept like a baby. I woke up every 2 hours crying.” For the first 24 hours, | Read More »
Both Sides Need to Lay Off Christie!
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | October 31st at 05:50 PM |
I don’t know which is worse: the liberals using Christie as a rally flag for the failing Obama campaign or the conservatives bashing him for daring to say something nice about the president. One of the first things I read this morning was the insipid Susan Estrich praising Christie. Usually, if Susan Estrich agrees with a Republican, he must have done something wrong. Later, the | Read More »
Voting for Obama is like having sex!
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | October 26th at 05:52 PM |
Some cool dude talked you into doing it, but later you’re sorry. It was over in two minutes. It was four years ago and now you’re ashamed to admit it to anyone. You thought it was going to be like totally awesome but in reality it was disappointing. He didn’t keep any of the promises he made to convince you that he was the one. | Read More »
Trudeau Does It Again.
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | October 10th at 09:25 AM |
I don’t know why I’m surprised. And I don’t why I keep reading Doonesbury (or the NY Times) when it just elevates my blood pressure. Maybe because they’re important or other people at least think they’re important. I know Gary Trudeau is a leftist and is out to get Romney. But I thought some things would be off limits out of human decency. Silly me. | Read More »
Why does this news make me so nervous?
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | September 13th at 11:12 AM |
This week, the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force announced that after years of study that they do not reccomend that healthy women be tested for ovarian cancer. Their reasoning? Women screened did not have a lower death rate from the disease and there are risks from having the tests. OK, that sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Don’t want to subject myself to any unnecessary medical | Read More »
With Facebook Friends Like These, I Sure As Heck Don’t Need Enemies
By: merrie7137 (Diary) | September 7th at 08:55 AM |
I started getting really depressed last week because I came to the realization that we’re pretty much doomed. Why? Because of the posts I see on Facebook. Yeah, I know. It’s my own fault for reading all this drivel and having stupid friends. But I really love Facebook and use it to stay in touch with old friends and family. At first, I would gleefully | Read More »
