In this episode of “Irony Exacts Her Sweet Revenge”…

A 19-year-old, New Jersey high school graduate who said his senior year was ruined by “awful” COVID-19 shutdowns handily defeated an incumbent school board member in his local school board race this week.

Nicholas Seppy, a 2020 graduate of Egg Harbor Township High School, beat incumbent Terre Alabarda by a whopping 17 points, as reported by Washington Examiner. “Parents were not being listened to,” Seppy said, adding that he “wanted to give them a voice on behalf of their children.”

After initially shuttering schools in March 2020, the Egg Harbor Township School District forced most of its students into entirely online learning or hybrid learning models — with very limited, in-person instruction for most of the 2020-21 school year.

Seppy echoed his comments in a statement to The College Fix, slamming the COVID shutdowns as “awful,” and saying he decided to run for a seat on the school board “out of a desire to serve in [his] community” and to “give parents a voice in the district.”

“Hybrid education was not yielding the enthusiasm in students they thought it would. [Specifically young students who missed] out on an entire year of education.”

Reality: School boards and powerful teachers unions didn’t give a damn about what students or their parents thought about lockdowns, nor did they give a damn about the effect on young students in particular, who were denied in-person learning by month after month of shuttered schools.

Finally, in an Instagram post, Seppy said:

My passion for the community of Egg Harbor Township is entirely everlasting, I aspire to set a positive example for our district. EHT shall have an excellent reputation, in both our standard of education and our efficient process of our budget.

I would like to thank all who have supported me over these past two years, without you none of this would have ever been possible. I would also like to thank my opponent, Ms. Terre Alabarda, for running a strong and fair election.

To all of Egg Harbor Township, I love you and will do my absolute best to represent you for many years to come!!

How awesome would it be if this spread across the country? School board members not only getting blistered by angry parents for draconian COVID lockdowns and CRT indoctrination but also by the very students affected — running in school board races and defeating left-wing school board members.

In related news, as we reported earlier, anti-CRT activist Christopher Rufo, in an interview with Fox News this week, ripped “deliberate” media lies that Critical Race Theory is not taught in schools across America.

“We shouldn’t be afraid of them,” Rufo told Fox News. “These people are resting on borrowed prestige from the past. They’re lighting on fire the credibility of their institutions.”

As 19-year-old Nicholas Seppy just proved, neither should parents or students be afraid of arrogant left-wing school board members and their heavy-handed nonsense.

Rather, maybe more 19-year-olds should exact the same sweet revenge Nicholas exacted.
