Needless to say, the useful idiots of the liberal media are beside themselves in unscientific anguish over a federal judge on Monday vacating Joe Biden’s federal mask mandate in airports and other transportation hubs. Toss in the fact that it was a Trump-appointed judge, and the hilarity could not be better.

NBC’s Lester Holt was among those in the so-called “mainstream” media most wrought over the news, melodramatically commiserating with a random NBC reporter about “small children” being put at risk by the judge’s decision. Holt whined (while lying his face off), as transcribed by NewsBusters:

With the country on track to soon reach 1 million COVID deaths in the next few weeks, this, a face mask, has remained the flashpoint of our (“ours,” as in liberal media sock puppets) anxieties and frustrations, and now tonight objects of mixed messages.

A federal judge set the rule’s demise in motion yesterday vacating the CDC mask mandate, calling it unlawful, but tonight many health experts point out that legal decision may not square with science and an upward tick in COVID cases around the country.

The new freedom to don face masks on planes, they warn, may also put small children and those with compromised immune systems at risk,

In typical liberal elitist fashion, Holt suggested that much of the country is too stupid to responsibly exercise personal choice over whether or not to mask, and as a consequence, “small children” and the immuno-compromised could now be at risk.

The random correspondent (Tom Costello) jumped in to make sure viewers knew that the judge who vacated the mandate, Florida District Court Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle, was appointed by evil Donald Trump (aka “the Devil incarnate”). Costello made a lame attempt to blame violence on commercial flights, in part, for Mizelle’s decision.

Celebration mixed with concern, two years after airlines began requiring masks and 14 months after the White House required them, the mask mandate is now out, struck down by a Trump-appointed federal judge who ruled the CDC had exceeded its authority in requiring masks on public transportation. In train stations, on planes, and in airports, travelers today seemed evenly split on whether they would keep masking up.

Could this guy’s narrative-driven editorializing be any clearer?

Costello told Holt the Biden administration “may appeal if the CDC insists that the mask mandate is needed,” but wouldn’t attempt to “stay” or halt the decision. How prophetic.

As RedState reported on Tuesday night, after first deciding not to appeal Judge Mizelle’s ruling, the Biden administration a few hours later reversed course and announced that the DOJ and CDC will appeal the ruling — after the CDC determined the mandate is still “necessary.”

As we’ve seen over the last 15 months more times than we can remember, Biden’s blatant hypocrisy and mixed messaging — driven solely by his radical-left agenda — is currently on full display on multiple levels, as evidenced by the following sequence:

In late February, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) eased the masking recommendations, saying “more than 70 percent of Americans should be able to remove their masks indoors, including inside schools.”

Then, in late March, the CDC further eased recommendations, saying just two percent of U.S. counties remained under masking guidance.

Then Judge Mizelle stuck down Biden’s mask federal mandate, calling it unlawful and saying the CDC had exceeded its legal powers in issuing the mandate — and the DOJ and CDC will now appeal the ruling.

In other words, the Biden administration, through its actions, despite the CDC’s only earlier guidance and the ruling of a federal judge, is going to die on the masking hill because COVID is still very much a threat.

Just one question: Why then, is the administration hellbent on allowing Title 42 expulsion requirements for illegal aliens to expire at the end of May? (Rhetorical question, of course; we know exactly why.) Title 42 was implemented by the Trump administration at the start of the Wuhan virus pandemic in March 2020 to limit the spread of COVID-19 from illegal immigrants who came from countries with high rates of communicable diseases.

Incidentally, as I was finishing this article, I watched Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin report that border agents have already started ignoring Title 42 with illegal aliens from several countries. Townhall’s Katie Pavlich then said border agents have been ignoring Title 42 requirements “for months” with illegals from Northern Triangle countries. “All of the above” runs contrary to the administration’s claims, including that it has been deporting single males from Mexico; yet video after video continues to show busloads of single males being released into the country on a regular basis.

The bottom line:

In perhaps the understatement of the article, Joe Biden, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and the entire administration have been misleading America from the beginning about not only the seriousness of the Biden Border Crisis™ but about why they created it — and continue to maintain —in the first place.
