Michael Williams on the Gulf Oil Spill.

I had the opportunity to talk with Texas Railroad Commissioner* Michael Williams (R) today on the spill in the Gulf:

It’s a shame that he’s not a Senator right now, but it’s always a pleasure to talk with Mike.

*For those unaware: the RRC doesn’t involve itself with railroads; it oversees Texan energy development. Hence the interview subject.

So now I have to wait to see/hear the interview.

The Interior Department exempted BP’s calamitous Gulf of Mexico drilling operation from a detailed environmental impact analysis last year, according to government documents, after three reviews of the area concluded that a massive oil spill was unlikely.

The decision by the department’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) to give BP’s lease at Deepwater Horizon a “categorical exclusion” from the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on April 6, 2009 — and BP’s lobbying efforts just 11 days before the explosion to expand those exemptions — show that neither federal regulators nor the company anticipated an accident of the scale of the one unfolding in the gulf.

I so wanted a Senator Michael Williams. I have absolutely NO respect for that woman at all!

what is she going to do? go back to Texas and count steer? This woman is the beltway insider’s insider. I can’t believe she thought she could win the primary. I don’t even think she really wanted to move to Austin, she just really hates Perry.

Michael Williams is one more BIG reason why I can hardly wait until 2012. I would also like to find a new partner for him in the Senate in 2014 as well.
