FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

And now, a *special* message for all supporters of Alan Mollohan (D, WV).

Ya doofuses.

Seeing as we have now just learned that the corrupt little suckweasel has been defeated in his primary bid. For all of you fighting for that man’s right to batten off the body politic, I just want to pass this along:

I wanted to kick it all techno, but none of them really sung to me, you know?

Moe Lane

PS: David McKinley for Congress. Because if the other guy was a real conservative he wouldn’t have run as a Democrat.

PPS: Enjoy spending money on this race, DCCC!

    …Who’s *not* an incumbent?!

I’d like to see some polling on this race soon, because I’m not encouraged by this turn of events…

  • spainishirish

And this seat doesn’t appear to be a Dem lock by any stretch of the imagination.

WHEELING – Political pundit and columnist Dick Morris predicts a Republican will win West Virginia’s 1st District congressional seat in 2010.

Capito was first Republican elected in an open seat

    the same can happen here

Just lost a 14 term incumbent, to a pro-life, pro-gun, anti stimulus, anti healthcare, anti cap and trade “Democrat”

I’m sorry but this guy is going to be lost in that caucus of loons, especially considering that after November, all that will be left of them is the far left ones in far left districts.

All McKinley has to do to win, is make everyone in this WV district aware that the first vote Oliverio will cast is to make Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House again, because no Democrat can come out publicly and say they won’t cast a vote for the current speaker, even if she won’t be the speaker in the fall. If he does, no way Pelosi allows him to get funding.

I’d love to see this debate, it will be like watching a GOP Primary debate.

  • Richard Mullins

Yep, it’s all down hill from there if the Democrat wins. All the things he pushing will be gone in Jan 2011.

Can someone tell an old lady what (nt) means?

I see it all the time here.. just thought I would ask.

  • septembergurl

Quite the achievement, I never thought this could happen. Obama and healthcare both poll dismally in WV, the Obama attack on coal industry and cap&tax are disastrous.

WVa was once one of the most reliably Democrat states in the US, up there with Mass, RI, Maryland, etc. This gives me hope that, thanks to our *genius* President, we can turn Pennsylvania, Ohio, and other states Red for a long time.

When a very short comment fits in the comment title, you can put (nt) at the end of the title and it’ll let you leave the main comment part empty.

  • smitch61

Thanks Neil, you always answer my silly questions..

  • Adjoran

I guess he’ll have to drown his sorrow in the $6 million or so increase in his personal net worth which came virtually entirely from companies, groups, and persons to whom he directed earmarks – and his congressional pension, of course.

    And they say crime doesn’t pay . . .

Good Riddance to Mollohan, its been a long time coming….however I fear this just means that another Dem will be elected, although WV-01 is a pretty conservative district that has elected a Republican in the past and is pretty reliable to Rep. Presidential candidates. Either way I would much rather have went up against Mollohan in the fall.

  • JadedByPolitics

about how terrible it is that the “moderate” Democrats are being TORN APART by the extremes in their party….NOT! hehehe!

  • Leopard1996

See the Democrats are so “inclusive” that even a “conservative” Dem can be elected. It would not be like the Bennett deal where the common spin is that the Tea Party is pushing the GOP to the fringes.

  • yoyo

They are going to have to run ads in Pittsburg (Ch4, ABC) cuz a lot of WV-1′s constituency live in WV, yet work in PA/OH.

Now, here is where it is interesting (if my geographics is up to date and my flailing memory serves for a few more minutes…). WV-1 buttresses up against Murtha’s old district. The DCCC will have to split the airtime on the ads, if they want to save both seats. Normally, the RCCC would have to do the same, however, with the mood of the electorate souring towards the Dems, much less air time will be required to accomplish an effective counterargument.

The Dems are on the ropes with this one. No incumbent and a whole lotta out-of-work union folk (UMW & USW) with nothing better to do than sit around the house, watch TV, and seriously think about which candidate will provide the best for his/her kids and grandkids.

At least that is my take on it.

  • Leopard1996

It would be nice to have some of these solid, “blue-collar” dems wake the hell up and realize that their bread is not getting buttered by the socialist majority of the Democrat party anymore.

If we win PA-12, it’ll be a signal that we can win WV-01, even against the new guy.

But if we end up losing PA-12, I fear the chance to win back WV-01 will be equally lost.

So all eyes should be on next Tuesday…
