FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

You know what’s a great antidote for a rotten mood?

Because I was having one: long story, but it involved wondering what I’ve been doing lately. Then I see this:

Gov Christie calls S-L columnist thin-skinned for inquiring about his ‘confrontational tone’

(See also: Hot Air, AoSHQ)

…and I realize that one thing I’ve been doing lately is helping people like Chris Christie get elected.

You’re welcome.

to fix what ails this Country!

  • RedBeard

So far, Christie has not disappointed. This was a wonderful exchange, with the media guy being “confronted” and left without an argument.

    Cheers, Governor!

  • MikeWas

…in state houses, and say, 59 more of him in the U.S. Senate.

  • throwback59

    Yeah, I like this guy.

    Thanks, Moe

  • trt1

NJ is damn lucky to have this guy leading the show up there right now. Governor Perry, are you paying attention. This is what we want in Texas! Comprende, Amigo?

  • utahjoe

I love me some Chris Christie!

  • takemccain2

Can we please bus in U.S. Senate and House Republicans so they can see what is looks like to have a spine?

    God Bless Governor Christie!

That is what you call LEADERSHIP and not backing down.

If he ever runs for President of the United States he can count on my vote.

  • jyjacobs

because we do not have a Gov. Christie in the White House right now when we need him.

  • http://www.redstate.com/biggator5/ BigGator5

Too bad he’s only in NJ. *dreams when Chris Christie becomes POTUS*

  • Wing Zero

You better sit at the gates of the Gov’s house with a shotgun. There will be a huge “Draft the fat man!” movement if this video gets more air time.

Christie 2012. He needs to give McConnell and boys some lessons.

    Plenty to go around…

    I. Love. This. Man.

  • JadedByPolitics

:steps into booth pulls lever: I definitely could support this guy for President of the United States because he can do nationally what he is doing locally to the unions just for starters but breaking down the Government to its original intended size for the bulk of the rest of his Presidency :)

Yep, I’m betting we will too.

It’ll be something to this effect: ‘Gov. Christie verbally attacks reporter for no reason other than being asked a question.’

  • rsjt

Definitely refreshing. Reagan however wouldn’t have allowed the conversation or issues to center on himself. I strongly think he would have chuckled, shook his head and responded simply with a “next question”.

Christie needed to say this but now that he has I hope he stays on the subject of saving his state from fiscal disaster. So far so good.

  • constitutionalconservative

Which is about the biggest compliment I can pay to a conservative in an executive office. He is taking on the public employee unions (just as Thatcher did) and he is arguing forthrightly for small government, conservative policies and he is not apologizing for who he is.

It’s very inspiring to see someone standing up for conservative principles like that.

Could this be a rare, rare case of a Republican actually getting BETTER while in office?

  • roscopico

You have been getting us rabble all roused, and that Christie is a man made of AWESOME.

I for one am so sick of being pi55ed all the live-long day… thanks for the red meat.

    bless ya

  • roscopico

He’s not shirked a battle yet, has he? That refusal to continue a meeting with the Teacher’s union muckity-muck after the deathwish post by one of her/his underlings?
    Priceless.

  • d_lamar

Finally, a conservative republican who is not afraid to express conservative principles. We need this guy in Washington in 2013.

  • bhjets

Christie?s press conferences are very similar to another fat Jersey guy who got results, Bill Parcells. Not only does he answer questions directly, he makes the press look like fools doing it. Parcells’ press conferences were always must see TV and Christies are too.

I want this guy in the White House.

  • saintgeorgegentile

    Try watching our country’s AG:

  • http://charlemagne-the-hammer.blogspot.com/ DerKrieger

We need more of this kind of Republican; fearless, direct, and not worried about what the press will say about him. Conservatives are SICK AND TIRED of squishy, go along to get along, pols who are far too willing to compromise their principles, if they have any, in order to make a deal. It is precisely because so many Republicans are squishes that we’ve allowed the Left to make such advances over the decades. Their advance has been relentless and never once stopped, it has only been slowed. I want fearless defenders of liberty and small, Constitutional government to not only stop the growth of government but to actually turn it back and dramatically shrink it. Every day brings another news story about another encroachment on our liberties and I;m sick of it. I’m sick of arrogant, elitist self-styled intellectuals who think they know better how to run the lives of We the People than we do ourselves. I want to be left alone.

Do we really need a full time legislature any more? I mean really, all it does is give the statists time to meddle in our lives. We get along just fine here in Arkansas with a legislature that meets once every two years for three months.

  • janis

as hearing Christie. The man is having a great time working for Christie and I’d bet he looks forward to coming into work every single day. These people are really making a huge difference, not only to NJ, but to the rest of us.

And they are making it really tough for the squishes in our party to keep a low profile.

  • lineholder

Governor Christie isn’t the least bit afraid to actually earn the respect, trust, confidence and perhaps even the loyalty of the people who elected him into office.
The fact that he is willing to approach it this way commands respect!!! It’s inspiring, which is really rare these days.

It’s above and beyond the kind of attitude we see in most politicians who somehow believe that they should be able to expect respect or simply demand respect without trying to earn it.

  • theolddog

and thank you for helping him get elected! Does my heart good to see a conservative zinging one back to the other side for a change.

  • klondike

I can’t get enough of this man. Just knowing there is someone out there like him calms my nerves. I admit to being in the camp of so many others in wanting him to be our president.

  • Wing Zero

this should perfectly describe your situation with us all wanting to take Gov Christie away from you

  • Scope

I do want him to trim down some because we are gonna need him to be around and healthy for a long long time.

  • SG_Lominac

Charlie Crist, the ultimate escape hatch guy. This is beautiful man, beautiful. Made my day. Thanks.

  • tngal

I’m afraid your big bear is going to leave his den in about 900 days or so. See if he’s not on the ticket for the oval office, I can definately see him getting an important post in the next administration. Even the RNC and other organizations have to realize his popularity. So if you plan on keeping him for governor for a couple terms then tossing him into the senate or something forget it.

About 900 days and he’s ours. Have a nice day.

PS. (we really need an election clock)

For Christie to become just like our Charlie, all he needs to do is paint his face orange and abandon all morality and principle. That’s all.

…any more; I moved down here to MD in 2001. My family and a lot of my friends are still there, though. Also, I miss the place. :)

or country?? This was great. Thanks for sharing.

The relentless search for verbal escape hatches is why politico-speak is persistently meaningless and incomprehensible.

Among the most brazen in recent days: Crist’s words re: donations while he was still a nominal Republican versus his words — and actions — after he went indie.

Christie isn’t shy about telling the truth. Exactly what we need.

  • Martin Knight

I actually was going to put this video up two days ago after the reporter whining about Christie’s “confrontational tone” put up his report about the encounter on nj.com.

It’s amazing how good it feels to see a Republican openly reject the unfortunate chattering class consensus that it’s somehow uncouth to disagree with the other side, that you should not aggressively defend your own views, that you cannot criticize the other side, that you need to put “Bipartisanship” first instead of good policy.

This helped us get to where we are today, first with Bush and then “Maverick” McCain. It seems Christie took a good hard look at recent history, gauged his opponents, realized that there was no reasoning with them and decided to unleash hell.

    And he’s winning – Tom Moran’s question is really begging Christie to play to the “Bipartisan” “get things done” script;

Christie?s plan is to barnstorm the state pressing for his reforms, to pressure Democrats to go along. And he?ll do a good job.

The last sentence is actually less a statement of fact than it is a lamentation. Republican Governors in Trenton are supposed to be demure, meek, cowering, easily intimidated. They’re supposed to go along to get along. They’re supposed to duck fights and avoid controversy. They’re supposed to care what liberal columnists think.

Christie is none of that … and it’s really driving them around the bend.

    All hail Governor Chratos.

His words are wonderful and inspiring. Let’s keep an eye on where his feet go. So far, he’s walking a line of freedom and that give’s me great heart. Hope it rubs off on many others. GOOOH!

Then we should use it against them. Fat jokes have been around plenty long enough for there to be an answer for every one of them.
And I don’t particularly care that he’s a little fluffy. He’s not obscenely obese, you know.
All that matters is that he’s AWESOME!
