    this race

this could really help significantly with our push in November on financial and moral front

The Tribune Democrat came out with a story yesterday headlined Local Residents Weigh in on 12th District Hopefuls. Basically, they found six local residents. I’m not sure but I think the question the residents were posed was something along the lines of “Is Burns right when he says this election is a referendum on washington or is Critz right saying its about local jobs.”

And all six out of six people “interviewed” favored Critz. Statistically, that’s impossible given the poll numbers. I’m not sure if they went to a Critz campaign office or what, But it makes our job of getting the truth out that much harder when swimming against shoddy journalism and inept editors who seek no balance. .

As of now, only 3 people commented on the story. 2 burns fans (yes they are out there) and one critz fan.

In the past, the head of the Republican State Committee in PA, Robert Gleason, openly admitted that he supported and voted for Murtha in the past. He also did not support Russell when he ran against Murtha and actually chastised Russell for running so hard. Apparently this has to do with a conflict of interest where Russell makes money for his insurance business due to ties to Murtha. Now there are those of us in PA that are not sure that Russell wants the Republican to win in the 12th.

And keep in mind that the State GOP threw all of its money and support behind the more liberal gubernatorial candidate, Tom Corbet, over the true conservative Sam Rohrer, including funding a last-minute hit piece on Rohrer that we just started receiving on Saturday.

The PA State GOP needs to be completely replaced.

He is just another rich guy, political neophyte, who lives in a multimillion dollar home. He didn’t even vote in the 2000 Presidential election (Bush v. Gore), the 2002 General election (Rendell v. Fisher), or the 2004 Republican primary (Specter v. Toomey). He is not committed to pro-life issues. Although rich, he has not opened his wallet for many other Republican candidates, beyond Rick Santorum in 2006. He simply is the GOP establishment candidate over Russell, a person who gave his all 2 years ago to beat Murtha, despite being opposed by the Chairman of the PA State Committee (see above).

    from Burns’ website..

“I am pro-life and believe there is no question that life begins at conception. But, I don?t think saying you are pro-life is good enough. I think we need to provide and encourage viable alternatives to abortion and work to decrease the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place.”

Plus he’s a “Repeal” healthcare candidate. not just a “tweaker”.
And. my personal favorite.. No amnesty. Not just the no amnesty part but his whole stance on all fronts concernning illegal immigration.

I could go on but why don’t you go read articles, especially ones from leftist newspapers and bloggers.. Oddly enough, everything they hate about the man is what I found appealing two freakin months ago. Lefties have pointed me toward some of my favorite conservatives.

I am a diehard conservative. Apparently much more than you if you support Burns. I and my wife are also very active as grassroots activists in Republican politics in Pennsylvania. To say that I am trolling is bizarre, as are you comments about reading leftist newspapers. I have to wonder if you are trolling on behalf of the GOP establishment. By the way, I have probably conducted over 200 anti-communist seminars and conferences in the 1970s and 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s, So my credentials are well established.

Burns is the GOP hand picked candidate. The same GOP that told us to support Specter over Toomey. BURNS is the ESTABLISHMENT candidate, and mainly because he is a multimillionaire who can write his own checks. Yes, Burns speaks good words. So did Specter election time. So did Senator Casey. So did Chris Carney in PA-10th. People in our district here actually thought Carney was a conservative. The issue is what has Burns actually done? Nothing. He did not even support Bush over Gore. Here is a link to an interview where Burns states he is not sure that he would support a Constitutional Amendment that says life begins at conception.

Russell is true conservative. Yes, I hope that Burns wins the special election, but I hope Russell wins the primary. If you like words, here are Russell’s “I am a conservative, I believe in the sovereignty and security of this one nation, under God. I believe in the sanctity of life and that life begins at conception. I believe in marriage between one man and one woman. I believe that we have the responsibilty and obligation to control our borders and determine who is allowed to live and work in our country. I believe in private property rights and that the death tax should be killed. I believe government economic policies should reward those who build business or save and invest their money. I believe in the right to bear arms and the right of self defense. I believe in rugged individualism and that no one owes me anything just because I live and breathe.”

I”ll leave it to the experts to hash out whether this one is conservative enough or that one too establishment. All I care about is enough “no” votes to stop the Democrats from destroying our country. I’d endorse Charlie Manson if he were a vote against Obama and Pelosi.

See the reason I ask is because while looking into the race awhile back I noticed your candidate offered no information accept attacks on Burns. His blog is the first section,

    “tim Burns exposed”
More bad news for Tim Burns
Tim burns and his eleven lives”

Burns said this and Burns is endorsed by that, and yada yada. No mention of Critz, No mention of dems, just attacking Burns. In his news, there are again articles attacking Burns. He should be using the space to tell us what he plans for either a) fixing PA or b) fixing Washington. The more you get into the site the more it appeared dems had put it up to attack Burns hoping to siphon off some of his votes. It was that blatant.

I realize you have two seperate elections, a special and a primary taking place. Obviously your candidate wants to show voters how he is better qualified than his opponent but then where is his issues page? In other words promote himself and his stances rather than attack his republican opponent?

has just been released and its close

    http://publicpolicypolling.blogspot.com/

    48% Burns
    Critz 47%

“The main difference is that negative campaigning has driven up both candidates’ negatives by 10-11 points. Where Burns’ favorability was a net +19 in April it’s now just +8. And where Critz was previously at a net +7 it’s now -6.”

“Critz is holding onto a 73-22 lead with Democrats which is not bad at all in a district where even voters within the party have a negative opinion of Pelosi. But Burns is up 87-10 with Republicans and has a 52-31 lead with independents.”

this is going to be nail bitter

I find these comments appalling. From the outside, it appears to me that nepa. . . . is the establishment person here. I have found it so amazing to see so many new people involved this year. I have worked in the GOP for 50 years this year, since I was 12 years old. I am still doing so, but probably will not be able to continue to do so forever in the future. We need these younger people. And, we must realize that these younger people are our future. They have never been involved in politics before. SD WHAT? They do not have a track record on voting, etc. SO WHAT? What they do have is enthusiasm and deep rooted conviction from having worked in the world, seeing what it takes to succeed, seeing our nation fall apart by liberals and RINOS, and caring enough to do something now. That is admirable. Yes, they probably should have been active all along, but they were not. That does not disqualify them now, but it could have helped us maybe not be so far down the path to socialism we are today is they had been involved before. But, what has Russell done? He served in the military, which is also a job, and we admire him for that. I would have loved to see him get the nomination again, but he did not, so are we going to sit on our hands and allow someone like Critz win? This would make it even more difficult to win this seat in November. So, vote for Burns now. If you like Russell better, vote for him in the primary so he is the GOP nominee in November, but do not cut off your nose to spite your face by not voting for Burns now.

And shouldn’t we take that poll as good news?

  • proudgop

but there numbers were spot on on NJ and VA Gov races as well as Mass Senate

they were off on Hoffman house race

they only numbers in poll that look suspect to me are that they only have negative 55% for Obama in district when every other poll has had Obama at barely breaking 40% positive

Thank you for your clarity of thought. I cannot for the life of me understand why we Republicans have gotten into our circular firing squad (again) over Burns and Russell.

Yes, I know Burns was the hand-picked candidate, but that’s the way the parties nominate candidates for a special election. I also know about all the inside baseball between Bill Russell and Bob Gleason during the 2008 election. Russell was screwed royally by the state committee. That’s a fact, and I have a lot of sympathy for Russell. He’s a good man who didn’t deserve that. That said, I don’t see how that justifies tearing down Tim Burns during this election. He IS the nominee, and by the looks of it a fairly conservative one. Sure, he might be all talk, but we won’t know until he’s in office. Incidentally, the exact same thing can be said about Bill Russell.

So I have an idea. Let’s focus on winning PA-12 which has been in Democrat hands for longer than I have been alive. If we can’t agree that someone who will caucus AGAINST Nancy Pelosi (that’s Tim Burns, BTW) rather than someone who will caucus WITH her (his name is Mark Critz) is the person who ought to win, then we have hopelessly lost our way. And may God have mercy on our Republic.

    Sometimes viciously so. :)

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

But this isn’t Ohio and I’ve seen nobody put together a case for them being wrong in other states.

  • tngal

Moe and Aaron can make numbers dance and twirl like something out of cirque de soleil. Break it down guys. Good bad and ugly. Shoot straight.

one interesting question was # 18. Would you like to see the next Representative from your district carry on John Murtha?s legacy?

    Yes ……………………………………………………….. 43%
    No …………………………………………………………. 44%
    Not Sure…………………………………………………. 13%

They can’t even agree on # 26 involving QB Ben Roethlisberger. That’s just sad.

  • proudgop

Curious if more Indep will vote then if they can vote in either primary?

  • http://www.hakubi.us/ Neil Stevens

You can be sure of that.

Highly likely to xpost it here too.

  • tngal

for some reason I can’t reply to you directly, I get an http error.
