FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

My talk with Brian Walsh (NRCC).

Just to be clear, this is the Brian Walsh who is the political director of the NRCC, and not the Brian Walsh who is the communications director of the NRSC. We spoke for a bit on the recent past and the rapidly approaching future:

To expand on the third question a bit: sites like Reverse the Vote also exist to assist the eventual Republican candidates in a host of Democrat-held districts. As Brian noted, the important thing here is to flip the House.

I think they have some great candidates. One of the Young Guns, Bill Flores, down in TX 17 is going to send blue dog Chet Edwards into retirement- one less of NARALs favorites to deal with.

I appreciated the way the NRCC let the primary run its course without jumping in. There were several good candidates. Now, Flores will win in November.

Bill Flores is an excellent candidate, and has been on the road already, pushing Chet to respond already. I do not think Chet knows what is about to happen this year, he can spend all of the 2 million bucks Nancy Pelosi gave him, Bill Flores is going to pester him now till November.

Also in TX-23 Francisco “Quico” Canseco is a great conservative hispanic that has a real chance at winning this thing. Up against Ciro Rodriguez, a conservative campaigning, liberal voting Democrat in South Texas. This is a tough district, but the combo of a conservative hispanic middle-class population and San Antonio suburban area, put TX-23 on the target for a pick-up.
