Rasmussen: Nikki Haley vaults to lead.

The word ‘dramatic’ comes to mind:

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary voters shows Haley earning 30% support. She’s followed by State Attorney General Henry McMaster who picks up 19% and Congressman Gresham Barrett with 17%. Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer captures 12% of the vote.

[snip]

The new findings mark a dramatic turn of events for Haley who ran fourth in March with just 12% support.r McMaster earned 21% of the vote at that time, with Bauer at 17% and Barrett at 14%.

We at RedState have long favored Nikki to be the next governor of South Carolina, and it’s a pleasure to see our work start to pay off.  The next step?  Getting her over 50% and with no need for a runoff to distract her from crushing the Democratic candidate in November.

So. Nikki Haley for Governor.

I hope she only serves one term, though. I’d much rather see her in the Senate than super-squish Lindsey Graham.

Do not ruin her by sending her to the Senate!

Just watched her debate, from her website…you are right…she ROCKS!!!

This proves what talent we have on the downballot ranks, she has got to pull this thing out. On this she really does have the MO.

I’m currently undecided between the top 4 GOP prospects for this seat. What makes her different from the others and why are the differences important? Just curious.

    :)

She fought the RINO’s in the state legislature and was an ally for Governor Sanford’s tax and spending cuts. She is a businesswoman and understands what a burden government can be to the small businesses of your state. She doesn’t just talk a good game like some of the others running – she has put her votes where her mouth is.

Yeah Right. Haley was in Last place in last poll. Today well she has 30%. Oh and that Erick Erickson endorsement didn’t hurt either

As for the Sarah Palin endorsement, that is terrific, but the candidate herself needs some credit here too. I like being on the winning team. Since joining Red State I have contributed to some who have lost (most recently Burns and Stutzman), but that is part of the game. We can’t all be like Romney and wait for the battle to be won to throw our support behind the candidate.

In other news: You know you have become a serious contender in the SCGOP Gov race when other GOP candidates file injunctions to get advertising in your favor pulled from the airwaves.

I don’t know what Congressman Barrett is scared of – I mean, he is still ahead of Lt Gov Jeff Gordon, er, I meant Lt Gov Speed Racer, ACH!, I mean Lt Gov Andre Bauer.

After watching the depressing and evil leftist witch-hunt of Rand Paul (another excellent Palin and Erickson endorsement, who will win this seat regardless ) this morning, I definitely needed a pick-me-up.

A Haley victory would be absolutely huge. Hopefully these latest poll numbers will help her fundraising.

McMaster is an establishment guy and Bauer is a loose cannon.

  • Adjoran

Inviting me to “join the Tea Party movement” – and incidentally to do so by voting for him!

    IMHO, that’s just deceptive.

Go crash a plane or something, Andre . . .

    Banker Bailout Barrett? No Thanks

Thanks to Romney, Palin, Eric Erickson, and Mark Sanford’s PAC for backing Haley.

Meanwhile, Rick Santorum is coming to SC to stump for Congressman Barrett

Snow White vs The Seven Dwarfs

The GOP will soon be known as Snow White vs The Seven Dwarfs with Sarah “Snow White” Palin leading such GOP Dwarfs as Huckabee, Gingrich, Pawlenty, Thune, DeMint, Romney and Ron Paul. When Snow White leads, The Seven Dwarfs follow.

  • rrreaganite

Thune and Demint are both really strong conservatives, not “dwarfs”

  • Adjoran

An eccentric, sort of libertarian, “out-there” guy. Not a bad guy, but we need to know him a lot better. Especially after Thomas Ravenel . . . we’re more cautious these days.

  • Adjoran

That’s the only “bailout” he voted for, and it was necessary. The cost of a financial meltdown would have been far more expensive and economically devastating for years, and since the problem was created by the Federal government, it was up to the Feds to do something about it.

As it turned out, the first half of the money

Educate yourself, or dwell in ignorance.

Haley: small business owner/operator for many years; 2 terms in S.C. House; only Republican in General Assembly to introduce legislation reforming the way the legislature operates by increasing transparency. 98% of Senate votes off the record and 80% (around that) in the House off the record. When she introduced it, Bobby Harrell and other Republican leaders in the House told her to pull it because they said they would decide what votes their constituents knew about (on an ad hoc basis per House rules). Nikki forged ahead and introduced it and they stripped her of all her leadership positions. She persisted pushing it and a year later 100% vote in support in the House. She is a conservative before a Republican.

Barrett: career politician for the last 15 years; lock step with the Republican Party leadership; introduced trade legislation incorporating a VAT tax on imports; supported first TARP which a majority of economists have said has done nothing but spend billion of tax $$. Republican before conservative.

Bauer: S.C. legislator and Lt. Gov. for lat 10 years (or more); many establishment friends in the General Assembly including Jake Knotts, a major opponent of the transparency legislation requiring votes on the record. Speeding tickets for speeds over 100 mph while in office. Republican before conservative.

McMaster: Father in General Assembly; Chairman of S.C. Republican Party for years including ethics investigation of his expenditures of Party funds; elected office and S.C. Attorney General; VERY supportive of and loyal to Republican leadership above all else. Republican before conservative. Loves spending taxpayer $$ for corporate welfare/economic development. Nikki Haley wants to eliminate corporate income tax across the board so small businesses also benefit and not just huge corporations from tax incentives.
