That was an interview? I think Mike Lee was playing videos games while he was having that conversation because it did not sound like he was paying attention to the host.

Personally, I’m agnostic about this particular race: but if you’re planning to stick around here after this primary’s over, what you write now will color everybody else’s opinion of you; and if you weren’t planning to stick around, why should we care what you write?

    Tim Bridgewater

I have watched Tim for over a year, and I believe he is the best US Senate candidate in the primary, and I expect he will be someone that is conservative. I have watched him move consistently for 10 years to the right. I have watched him learn from mistakes of the past.

Tim’s attitude and methods and his actions have impressed me. Words alone are not enough.

  • utah_cares

I Like Tim stating where he is on something. Yes, you can go back 7 years or so and find that he has changed his mind, but I have been having a hard time figuring out where Mike Lee is on issues – just this year.

    N-Testing:

Lee’s Republican primary opponent, Tim Bridgewater, agrees and would support underground tests “if it was deemed necessary by our military experts.”

“I would support that,” Bridgewater said. “I would prefer that we don’t have to move down that road, but nuclear weapons are a deterrent, and we shouldn’t give up our strong position in the world because more nations are becoming nuclear powers and the greater the deterrent the less likely we ever have to use them.”

Mike Lee was for N-Testing before he was willing to sign the N-testing ban, before he realized signing it would also ban using nuclear arms at all.

Why does it take 2 extra weeks for Mike Lee to settle on a position on anything? The first two weeks doesn’t count?

He did the same thing on Afghanistan, Foreign Waste into Utah, Immigration, etc.

Lee also stated all the time before the convention that he would never be stating what the other guy/gal believes. He is doing just that with this video.

I will agree that the audio of this interview was not good at all. It sounded like a bad connection, phasing in and out and popping.

Regardless, there is no doubt that Mike Lee is the best candidate in this race.

Mike Lee is the ONLY candidate for US Senate in Utah who has never worked as a Washington D.C. lobbyist for foreign corporations, has never profited from federal earmarks or stimulus money, has never used taxpayer money to fund risky foreign business ventures, and who never supported non-conservative legislation such as No Child Left Behind.

All the challengers to Senator Bennett worked hard to run positive, issue-based campaigns. Unfortunately, Club for Growth put negative ads on in Utah attacking Bennett. In addition, a mailer that was sent out by an unknown group (the Lee campaign denounced the mailer and denied sourcing it), associated Mike Lee with the Mormon Temple and Senator Bennett with the U.S. Capitol. Most Utahns, including the Lee campaign, believe that these attacks were unfair and unseemly, and may have actually created sympathy support for Bennett at the convention.

Prior to the convention, Senator Bennett went negative against Mike Lee, taking his words out of context and changing his meaning. This was also unfair, beneath the dignity of Senator Bennett, and spoke volumes to the desperation of Bennett’s campaign to continue “my career”.

Cherilyn Eager is an honorable person who would not intentionally mislead the people. However, she did indicate that the Bridgewater campaign had suggested helping pay off her campaign debt in return for her support in the primary. Ms. Eager states that she felt this was not inappropriate, but nevertheless did not agree to the deal. Concerns also exist that Bennett & Bridgewater may have agreed to throw his support to the other if the other should come out ahead in the convention voting. We do not need any more back room deals in Utah or Washington.

Senator Bennett did not make it out of convention this year largely because of his affinity for earmarks and big-spending Washington pork. While Mike Lee has been criticized for being a Constitutional lawyer, lawyers are “small businessmen” involved in the usual business activities of personnel management, making payroll, etc. Despite the fact that Bridgewater talks the talk well, can he be classified as a true ?fiscal conservative? or even “businessman” if his ?business? is feeding off government pork? Is Bridgewater just a younger Bennett?

We need a true fiscal conservative in Washington to help us deal with our current economic crisis, and we need someone with a strong foundation in the Constitution to help us deal with our constitutional crisis. Mike Lee has the background, experience and character best suited to helping us take back our country. Please join me in voting for Mike Lee for the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate on June 22.

Hey ARC, weren’t you banned from Red State? Just because you changed your name doesn’t mean we don’t know who you are.

But here you are, making things up again. Lee has not changed his positions on anything. But let’s figure out where Tim stands. He was for NCLB before he was against it. He was for Medicare Part D before he was against it. He was for John McCain and is still for him. He is for Federal funding of his businesses but against it when campaigning. Yep, you’ve hitched your horse to a great one now that Eagar is out of the race. Nice job.

Again, Mike Lee was for N-Testing before he was willing to sign the N-testing ban, before he realized signing it would also ban using nuclear arms at all.

Lee has done the same thing on Afghanistan, Foreign Waste into Utah, Immigration, etc. Even why he donated $500 to the Bob Bennett campaign within 3 weeks after Bennett voted for Tarp and 3 months before he started looking to get in the race to challenge Bennett.

Lee has been a hired gun. Want to keep hazardous waste out of Utah, get Lee. Want to move hazardous waste into Utah, get Lee.

Yes, Bridgewater changed his stand on NCLB over 8 years. Lee has changed his stand on foreign waste coming into Utah in less than 7 months. Of course, he may have changed it again..

  • utah_cares

    Lee and ES
“As a senator, Lee said he would support legislation banning the importation of foreign waste, provided it gives companies a few years to plan accordingly.”

I guess Mike Lee has changed his mind when he told 40 people on Dec. 5th he thought the bill Chaffetz and Matheson had signed, that had passed the house, that Bennett was sitting on, banning the Italian waste was wrong?

Of course, at the time, Lee was the key attorney representing ES forcing Utah and the associated states to take the Italy waste.

ARC, why are you still posting here when you were banned?

But I am curious. What has changed from this position-

“I don’t think we currently have any need for detonation testing. I think there’s a possibility that need could arise in the future and I don’t want to take that possibility off the table should it become necessary,” he said”

He did not state he was for the treaty, just didn’t think there was a current need but wouldn’t take it off the table. Thanks for providing the link with basically the same statement in each. And as for you stating he changed any other position, please show us some links for proof. Or do we have to take you word for it?

U.S. Senate candidate Mike Lee said Wednesday he would likely vote to ratify an international treaty banning nuclear weapons tests, arguing it would serve the nation’s strategic interests and still provide flexibility to protect its security.

“I don’t think we need [nuclear testing] and I think, on the whole, we as Americans would be safer if that treaty were in place,” said Lee, who last week said he would be open to the resumption of underground nuclear tests.

The Republican candidate said his support of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty hinges on opt-out language in Article 9 of the treaty that allows nations to resume testing if it is deemed to be in their national security interests..

Now watch what he stated in the debate
